Glad to see your moving up the ladder from cheap boxes, expensive roll carts to a nice big quality tool box. You've pretty much shown how hard work pays off in divine timing. I have been rocking my little Cornwell 5 drawer slide top but Im looking to step up towards a double bay 4S or Cornwells Pro Series double bay box since my carts filled from top to bottom. I hope it all works out for you at your next job and all your tool reviews have been really helpful
Dude you straight up inspire me and help me stay motivated to keep pushing. Im working as a service tech for the countys trash company so i deal with a large fleet (140+) trash trucks. at 23yrs old working 12hrs 5 days a week for the past 3yrs..i can say im worn out of this place lol. BUT, like i said you keep me motivated to keep pushing and remind myself fo just get experience and time under my belt and hopefully move to a better job with more opportunities soon.
Yes sir. Keep grinding keep getting after it and when you’ve heard what you feel like at some sufficient time doesn’t hurt to put some feelers out there. Maybe hand in that resume see what comes of it maybe you get something it has a better schedule or they could potential he have better pay. 🍻😎🤙
Nice Box Justin! That's a 3 friend box, by that I mean it takes 3 friends to help move it!! When I left Buick to start Trucking it took my cousin, my shop foreman and me to load up my 50 inch Craftsman box onto a trailer to bring home!! 😁😁😁
Hey Justin I have basically the same service cart you had and love that thing but damn your new box is nice. Love the black on black and the American flag logo is a nice touch. Love the layout of the box. Thanks for sharing. Cheers brother 👍🥃
Ehhhh!!! What’s going on my friend 🍻Cheers! Bumblebee took some beatings. Yes see at that time that dealer had multiple shops in the area so when they needed somebody at one shop they would Iny Meany myknee mow it and at one point everyone had to make the swap from one shop to the other. So that little DeWalt tool box made its way back-and-forth between those shops three roundtrips I think the last round trip is really what did it to where it wouldn’t lock anymore. But that thing sure did take a beating and kept on ticking. Not bad for 250 bucks. I remember it being a $600 toolbox and from the moment I shared it on RUclips someone reached out to me and told me it had gone on sale for 250 I went back and got the difference in price back. 🍻😎🤙
Me too brother. I’m killer hoped to be falling underneath the diagnostic mentor they can show me the side of automotive that I haven’t ordered yet. I am very adequate at the nuts and bolts side not so much on side B lol 🍻😎🤙
Congratulations man there nice boxes co worker has same box with the hutch slightly short look into getting the big top drawer on it to raise it up not sure if that’s something you thought of at all. Congratulations again
I know how it feels to get your box with a hutch, I'm currently using a HUSKY with the Tool Chest/Hutch/Locker that you can buy from Home Depot for around $1299+tax...$1500 delivered! LOVE IT and CONGRAT'S to you, well deserved!
Price & Availability. My MATCO Guy showed me what he had. I liked the Black on Black Best & the Drawer configuration works for me. He was able to deliver it within a few days. If I would have wanted the same color in the deeper option price goes up and could take 2-3 weeks. Not ideal for my timeframe
The Jamestown is a must keep. If you sell the Jamestown you’ll probably end up buying a harbor freight cart in the future, and then selling the harbor freight cart just to re-buy a Jamestown.(ask me how I know about that...lol)
@Jacks Journale completely agree with everything you just said. When I was at the dealership before you had one spot most guys had big boxes most everyone here knows what box I had when I was at the dealership. A Rubbermaid cart was all I really needed ducking underneath the lift and for quick service work. Independent shop little bit different. There nobody has a bay to himself. You get to put your box somewhere in the shop and you work everywhere else.
Justin is leaning away from heavy line work and into diagnostic. I have a krsc430 that I use as my toolbox right now at a dealer. I am keeping it as I am doing a back and forth with heavy line, diag, engine repair and transmission work. If I was only doing diag I would probably be looking at a big box and a more maneuverable cart. But he's also one of us that have a problem with tool hoarding and if he gets good and makes the money he deserves you're right, he will probably be buying another big cart later on 🤣
Saw our Cornwell rep today. He had a real nice blue on blue Platinum series on the truck. 84 inch, triple bank. Had a 45 a week sticker on it. I asked a couple questions. Turns out it was a trade in. The guy used it for overflow. The box, outside and inside the drawers looked brand new. The drawer liner looked perfect. He was 8 grand for it. Thought hard, real hard. Finally I told myself a few things. 1. I'm a truck driver, what the hell do I need with a box like that. Here's the big one.... 2. How the hell am I gonna sneak that by my wife. I'm gonna stick to my Hope's that HF will make all the US General boxes available in white. And go that way. I want a 72 in top and bottom, or at least a 56 top and bottom. That Cornwell box was bitchin, but not practical at all.
Your second thought what is my favorite. You see I didn’t even have the box yet but it’s not easy to pull that kind of money out of savings and not have your wife see it. So instead I told her I did a thing (shortly after I got home and had talk to my MATCO Tools dealer) and I need to take some bricks out of savings. Oh she was not very happy. I totally thought she was going to murder me. In fact I think the words kill you came up once or twice. LOL I said sorry honey I already made A verbal deal and the box will be at the shop on Friday. Yeah it’s probably gonna be a month or two before the cookie jar is unlocked LOL 😂🤣 totally worth it 🤣🤣🤣🍻
Same here Clayton!! I was a GM tech for 10 years at a Buick dealership then left to go Trucking and now I've got 15 years under my belt and 2 million miles but still love my tools!! Like I told Justin tools to me is like jewelry to my wife!!😂😂😂😂
Not on this one no. There is going to be a lot more computer work going on on the top of the box. Not practical for a work bench like the US General was.
Back in black yeah. I still like that Jamestown, I been eyeballing one for a service cart, also I've never had a professional tool box ever I'm still running my craftsman stack at home a husky at work and and a small service cart, professional tools I'll buy first.
Because u have owned both a 4s is IMO better than a KRA snap on model. Very sturdy box that will last throughout a career. Best entry level box of all brands.
Damn it Justin! I was going to wait until I certified. Now I got the itch for a new box again! Call the divorce lawyer! You save quite a bit of the retail price by paying cash. My rep told me it’s the best way.
I knew you was gonna buy a pro box going back to the dealer lol also I might sell my matco for a snap on krl 1001 if you know anything about that model

Sweet box, and awesome ya saved and paid cash money....don't let them get that interest from your hard earned money!!! Woot.. Nice of matco to give full refund on trade in but man, that goes to show how marked up these boxes are. They can afford to give full refund on used box and still make enough money for the factory and tool truck owner on the new box. There's no way they can sell the used box for what they gave ya for it. Big boys definitely make higher quality boxes but the value will never match the price. If I had to guess, I would assume it costs the factory $40 to $50 to make each drawer, $400 to $500 to make the box, and $100 to $200 to paint it. Then $100 or so for casters. So less than $2,000 all in. Throw in marketing and indirect costs per box and let's call it $2500 Then they sell the fuckers for five figures .... It can make sense for pros that need a big box.....but they could really open up their market if they priced in a manner that might draw in other industries and DIY folks....

Does the price drop significantly if you pay cash in full?
It drops a fair amount. Each Rep is deals differently, but Cash is King & can save you thousands.
Did you shop around with Garrett for tool storage too? Or is he not around anymore?
I did. Would have been closer to 20K for what I wanted and he hasn't been around in over a month. Not sure what's going on there.

Spend the money and get the tool grid system from matco. It will organize your box and give you the most usable space.
