    This video helped me clean and repair a Winchester 1300, while not exact, it has most of the general mechanical configurations.

    Just used this to disassemble and clean a sears and roebuck model 200 in 20 gauge. Never woulda figured out that bolt reassembly without you. Much obliged. Shotgun was bequeathed to me from a friend.

    My dad bought me that gun in 20 Gauge when I was 10 years old and like any 10-year-old first thing I did when I got home was take it apart. It took me 3 days to get that spring back in that magazine tube. Those guns came with a wooden plug to limit how many rounds you could put in the gun for duck hunting. You take that spring stick it in the tube then the retaining cap and use that wooden plug to stop that spring from going all over and it helps push that retainer clip in place. I didn't dare tell the dad I had those parts out of the gun under my bed he would of beat my @$$. He used to get so mad at me for taking everything apart. And yes, he told me when I got DON'T you LOL

      That's a great story and I can really relate to the taking everything apart. Although I was usually just taking my own things apart so I mostly got in trouble for getting into my dad's tools. I'm pretty sure when he passed away in 2015 he thought I still had some of his tools from when I was a kid.

    my m200 hasnt been taken apart in the 20 plus years ive owned it. i guess its about time for a good cleaning. still works great though, and super smooth even after only cleaning it from the outside.

      As long as you're not having any issues with reliability or fouling you may never need to break it down that far. Although there are people that would certainly disagree with me.

    Cool , I never handled one , I think a JC Higgins model 20 is one of the finest shotguns ever made.

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  Год назад

      The J.C. Higgins has a couple things going for that I prefer over the Ted Williams. Disassembly and reassembly is much easier with the Higgins, the action is smoother and the variable choke device looks much cooler.

      @@Alloy211 I have 3 at the moment .. had one in HS and shot countless ducks , quail and grouse with it… as with most teen boys my muscles were much bigger than my brains(didn’t take much) and I would sit and rack the slide vigorously for extended periods of time , causing the action bar to break. I’ve heard it was a weak part of the gun and I suppose it is , although my others are holding up just fine.

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  Год назад

      With only having one action bar I could see how that would be considered a weak point. My Model 20s internal parts have all held up well but the two tabs that hold the trigger guard in place have broken off. I'd like to just get a trigger guard with the tabs still intacted to replace it but they cost more than I paid for the whole gun. When I bought it one side was already broken and after I had let someone borrow it for a film the other broke off shortly there after. I think I've figured out how I'm going to repair it but it's a project I have yet to start.

    • @guaporeturns9472
      @guaporeturns9472 Год назад +1

      @@Alloy211 Yeah I’ve heard that can be a weak point as well.. never been a problem with mine so far. Ithaca 37s ,Winchester model 12 and others have only one action bar and they seem to hold up fine , might be that funky dogleg in the Model 20 that’s the weak spot? Can’t remember exactly where mine broke, was a while back(early 80s)

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  Год назад

      That's probably the ticket right as to why it might be a weak point when compared to other single bar pump guns.

    I unscrewed my Poly choke off. I can't get it lined up properly. When i tighten down and then click counter one click it should be set to FULL but it's blank. I have started the choke at all six locations and still can't get it lined up like it should. You have any tips. It is driving me crazy

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  Месяц назад

      That's an interesting predicament. The Mdl. 200 is a close friend of mines and is not in my possession at the moment so I took a look at the adjustable choke on my J.C. Higgins Mdl 20 last night to see if I could gleam any insight from it. Unfortunately I think I'll need to look at the Mdl 200 itself before I can be of much assistance. Although I would suggest dissembling it again and seeing if there's something you missed that might index it to the correct position. This weekend I'll try to get a look at the 200 and get back to you.

      You're welcome, I'm happy to help. A couple tips for a new pump shotgun user off the top of my head, take time to learn the controls as they're not really similar to other firearms, dry practice cycling the action so you can get a good feel for the pump, make sure to keep it tight into your shoulder to help mitigate recoil and try a variety of loads to see what seems to pattern best out of your shotgun. I'm sure there are more but that's what comes to mind.

    Nice video, Alloy 2/11. Question: Your demo didn't show the 2-shot (wooden) plug that makes the shotgun "legal" for fowl shooting (most states). Do you know how that piece installs into the magazine tube? Larger end towards the muzzle or towards the breech? Many thanks.

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you, I believe the narrow end of the plug should go through the center of the spring. So the larger end would be towards the muzzle.

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  9 месяцев назад

      Depending on condition and other factors on the low end $150 to a high end of $375 or so. Again depending on different factors. But I'd say in good condition $250 wouldn't be unreasonable.

    What a terribly designed bolt… at least you don’t need a special tool to break it down like my M1 carbine🤦‍♂️

    • @Alloy211
      @Alloy211  Год назад +1

      If this were a semiautomatic shotgun I would understand the rotating bolt head but as a pump gun I think there are better ways to do it. For maintenance it's kind of a nightmare and I believe it contributes to the stiff action.
