It’s always an option. But only in emergency scenarios for me. I’m not comfortable wild camping or stealth camping in some settings, especially in the US where property rights are strict.
Great intro to the Katy! A friend and I did our first bike camping trip this past summer. We Amtraked from Chicago to K.C. then biked across Missouri to St.Louis using the Katy trail plus a couple of spurs to connect. Great fun for sure!
Good overview of the trail. A nice trip for someone new to touring. I have biked and canoed the Missouri from Sioux City to St Lewis a number of times . Always an enjoyable time.
Thanks for all your time an effort in these wonderful videos. We were on your Gap video ,we were heading to Cumberland from Pitt, which I thought was cool,we had the American Flags, then we did the Ohio/Erie trail ,went through the same storms of storms, heading to Cleveland, we were in Millersburg when it happened. You were right about the wonderful people you meet and sticking together.Trail angels!! The wife and I heading to ...Katy trail in Sept., starting in Sedelia to St. Charles. Looks like we are following you Ha!! All the best to you and your family. Thanks again. Jim
Wow that’s awesome that we’re doing the same trails. Can’t believe we were on the GAP and OTET the same exact time just different directions. Hope y’all love the Katy. Hit me up if you have any questions while you’re planning.
Thanks so much for sharing. Your videos have really inspired me to get outside more. I live in Kansas City and I’m slowly getting prepared to tackle the Katy Trail. Probably a bit differently as I’ll start here in KC and follow the Rock Island Trail to Windsor where I’ll pick up the Katy. Pedal to the end and Amtrak right back home. Love your videos and outlook on life. TY
Oh wow, that’s awesome. Thank you! Glad my videos inspire you. You’re gonna love The Katy. The next time I do it. I’m taking the train to Kansas City and do the Rock Island spur. I’m also going to add and extra day and take the Columbia spur too. Enjoy your rides!!!
@@DeniseLookingOut fantastic! I did it as part of a much longer trip and the Katy was the highlight so far. I rode from Nebraska on the Cowboy Trail, the Homestead Trail, the Chief Standing Bear Trail, the Flint Hills Trail, the Katy, The MCT and the Pennsy Trail. I'm heading out on the Ohio to Eerie Trail tomorrow
You can check out my gear set up here: ruclips.net/video/DvCEozdcm64/видео.html Good luck on the bike hunt. My bike is an eight year old Motobecane Turino I bought on BikesDirect. One friend had a Salsa Marrakesh. I’m not sure what my other friend. His was a commuter bike.
I just camp on the side of the trail as long as you’re up early you’re good I do it all the time

Now there's an idea a round trip bike to Boonville and canoe or kayak to St. Louis!
Thanks for the overview of the trail. I am going in 2 weeks. Please try HIGH TRESTLE TRAIL in Iowa!
@@Rottingboards you’re welcome! You’re gonna love it! Thanks for the recommendation. High Trestle is definitely on the list!!!

Awesome! Y’all are gonna have a great trip. Enjoy!
Nice video. Great trail.
Thanks! It really is such a great trail!
Well-done video. Thank you!
Thank you!
Really want to do this Denise. What were your camping charges per night if you recall? And is use of bathrooms and shower included in that cost?
Do it! The camping fees varied from $10-$25 per night and yes we had a shower at every place we stayed.

Thank you for this video. Going in 5 weeks - this is helpful
You’re gonna have a great time. HMU if you have any questions.
You going to put up more videos of the Katy Trail.
Can you give me a rough cost of the camp grounds, as a solo rider I like to keep the costs down.
Looking forward to your videos of the trip.
For sure, they varied from $10-$30. I do believe at the ones we stayed at, it was a per site rate, not person.
Could not find the Katy Trail bike tour videos ????
The daily experience will start next with Starting the Katy Trail.
Coukd you ride this on a gravel bike w 35s? Thanks for the overview
Absolutely! I was on a tour bike with 35s
Did you self shuttle or is there a shuttle service?
We shuttled with Bike Stop Cafe in St. Charles.
I was hoping you'd put Katy Trail videos out before I went- I was on trail last week.
Sorry. Rough work/life schedule. So how was it!?!?!

@@charlieromeoone5302 that is so cool. Those trails are on my list too. Have a blast on the OTET! Safe travels!
Are you going to be mentioning your gear set up? I’m especially interested in what bikes you are riding since I am looking for one myself. Thanks

Wonder if I can get a shuttle ride back to Clinton from St. Charles ?
I don’t see why not.
Yes
Bike Stop Cafe - great people and great service
The Katy videos coming out soon? Just curious. Thanks for your information!! Its inspiring!
Hey there sorry for the delay. Life happens. Day 1 on the Katy is now up: ruclips.net/video/kEdsugK4M00/видео.html
Might be doing this in May 2024. 😂
Did you camp at Dr Johns Kaboos camp site
Noooo!!! Gonna have to plan on that next time!
Machens - pronounced "mock ens"
Ha gotcha. So easy to mispronounce local pronunciation.
What is the name of the taco place
Taqueria Morelos!!! That little taqueria was amazing! Still think about those 🌮!!!
It's Machens (pronounced Mahk-ens) not Mansions.
Promo SM 🙏
You forgot the bathtub
Where is it? I’ll catch it next time.
Nice
