Comparing Uncle Funky's Daughter AND The Doux | Type 4 Hair Gel Only Wash and Go| No oils or butters

Today I am comparing Uncle Funky's Daughter Curl Magic Curl Stimulator and The Doux Big Pappa. These are two Black-owned hair care companies with great hair care products for type 4 natural hair. In this video, I am comparing their gels for a 3-step method gel only wash and go which means I am only using 3 products (shampoo, conditioner, and gel) and no oils or butters.

Try using the uncle funky’s first as a base product (you won’t need a lot at all) and then use the doux gel on top! You’ll be surprised by the results 😮‍💨

I’ve tried both. Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic is my regular gel that my hair stylist uses. I’ve only used Big Poppa in 2 back to back washes so I need to give it another try but my hair was very dry on day 2 with the Big Poppa which it’s not with Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic.

I like the big poppa side too. Uncle funky is better with a topper gel to me. But i also love UFD for slicked back bun look. I also use big poppa for twist outs. I rarely do a wash n go, my hair takes too long to dry and I loathe wet hair. 😩

The Big Poppa side seems to have much more definition, but both are rockable wash n gos.

I've used Uncle Funky's Curly Magic but I plan to try Big Poppa next. Big Poppa is way cheaper in the UK where I live.

I have a love hate with Uncle funkys
I pretty much just started substituting it as my leave in and then putting a stronger gel (like aunt Jackie’s) on top. I get a soft but firm hold but sometimes I still add too much uncle funky and it comes out too soft and doesn’t last more than 2 days. But then sometimes it comes out amazing. I tried it with Design essentials cream gel a few times and had a few good wash and goes over the summer too. But yeah it’s def not a 1 and done for me with uncle funkys. I might need to try out the big poppa or mix them and see what’s upz

So far Big Poppa hasn’t worked for my wash and goes but I live in a dry climate and I have gray hair, medium density, low to medium porosity so Curly Magic adds more moisture to my hair. I workout 4 days a week, sweat a lot and wash my hair 2 times a week.

I get AMAZING wash n gos with Uncle Funky’s Daughter! However when I saw this new Big Poppa gel in Target I just HAD to try it lol! I plan on using it on my upcoming wash day. On you The Doux (pronounced Doo, rhymes with “you”) side definitely looked better. Btw, I tried to click the link to take your survey but it’s no longer available.
