I'm not understanding why when a certain way to apply a styler is suggested folks veer away from the suggestion? It's like making a cake and saying instead of butter you'll use margarine and then Wonder why its not as buttery tasting. Ive seen people use the mouse and I think that helps with the frizz and application. Just saying... 🤔🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️. I thi k your hair looked amazing by the way.
I preferred using big poppa for my twist out. To me, the pop lock is better for a wash and go. I do believe this brand is underrated. What I had to learn in using all her products is that you absolutely have to follow the directions for each one. You should definitely give the mousse a try but use the leave-in with it.
I was eyeing the pop lock when I bought this one, I wasn't sure which one to try! I will definitely try the mousse with a leave in. Thanks for sharing!
I think the glycerin as the 2nd ingredient is too much..glycerin is moisturizing however too much of it causes frizz.. might work better in the winter as you said. Also it's important to use products as directed on the instructions to provide a fair assessment of how the product performs. As this gel stated on the instructions-use with mousse def or use gel Alone, and apply to Wet hair. The mousse def paired with the uncle funkys curly magic produces a bomb wash and go.
I like this gel for puffs b/c of the volume, curl definition, and soft fluff. It reminds me of Kinky Curly b/c I have to use it the same way. Both are very moisturizing, no cast, and sticky when drying. I have other gels if I want a real wash and go that last, this does not last past day 3 for me either. I have tried The Doux products and most of them are a miss or just o.k. for me, but I am glad they worked for you!
It reminded me of Kinky Curly too, but I love Kinky Curly (I'm a 4cdefg girly, and very coarse). But for WashnGo, I need something a little crunchy on top like Wetline.
I did my first ever wash n go 3 weeks ago since going natural 2 yrs ago. I used the doux mousse def alone and it turned out BOMB 💣❤️🔥💥😆 I have dense, bra strap length 4b hair and it lasted for a week in Floridian weather 😌✨💕
Everything was sticky and gummy except for the Bonita Afro Balm that's also moisturizing and i love it for my Afro a little goes a long way. The Balm I'd definitely repurchase but not the other products. That foam was sticky and gummy too.
Yea that AP gel had your hair on 10! That mousse def is hella drying so idk if you want to use that underneath but it may help with hold 🤷🏻♀️ great honest video girl 😉
@@AllThingsMoElle it would be a good idea for you to do one side with it and one side without because you never know it may work for you and it’ll be a good comparison video plus if you don’t use it ppl will say you should have followed directions 🙄 although when I ordered it directly from The Doux the card that came with it said use it alone. Not sure why the card and directions on the jar are different
I have no idea what you are talking about on the second day, your hair looks GREAT lol. I literally cannot stand crunchy wash n go’s. I rather have no curl definition if its gonna be hard and crunchy. Thank you, I will be picking this one up to try.
Imma try Bee Girl bcuz I don't want sticky hair & I found that Mousse Def is defining and has hold, but it's extremely drying, which leads to breakage... Yet the directions are not to use other products so it's like you need to break the rules to get a HEALTHY wng 💁🏽♀️
My hair enjoys the doux. I have a wash and go with this gel on my filming schedule so I think I’ll either follow their directions or use their leave in (not sure lol)
I love the gel. I use it without a leave in. It last me 5-7 days just because I wash my hair every 5 days. I use it outside of the shower with a water bottle.
Finally someone felt the same way I did. Glycerin is high on ingredients list so for me it has to be the perfect weather conditions for it to work. First time my hair was sticky, 2nd time I did it in the shower. Stickiness was gone but my hair was dry😖 I rewet and put a cream on top to twist it up. It came out soft, so maybe I’ll try that next along wit a leave in. 🤷🏾♀️
Hey, like your channel! The Doux products are a NO for me. Tried the Mousse Def, “hated it!” Hard to describe how bad my hair looked and felt! Truly turned me off... that I can’t bring myself to try this Brand again...and I bought two. Can’t even give them away!
I loved your day 3 hair!! You looked beautiful! I love this wash and go series! I tried this gel when it came out last year and I agree its very moisturizing, but girl my neck was below sticky! lol
Thanks for review! I did apply in the shower without a leave in ( per instructions on the bottle ). It was too soft so I knew it wouldn’t last. After 2 days my hair was puffy and I knew I needed to wash it. I think I need to pair it with something else.
@@AllThingsMoElle I also live in Georgia and I believe the gel can't stand up to our humidity. I redid my hair this morning using Big Poppa and my diy strong hold gel on top. So far, less frizz.
Thanks so much I wanted to try this but ummm ion know if I want it now based on this although your hair was beautiful baby if it ain’t gonna last me a week or at least 5 days Ion want it🤣🤣
Great video, love the results! I have been natural since July 2020 and I'm afraid to do a wash and go. I will probably try this summer 😁. I have these products in my stash though lol.
You should definitely try it at least a couple of times! I was scared for years to do wash n go’s because people like to say that you shouldn’t do wash n go’s on type 4 hair....but after practicing its become one of my favorite styles!
I'm way behind on this gel. There may have been a change in the formula since this video because I noticed the instructions no longer advise to use with Mousse Def(or anything else). I've done 3 WnG with this product and I love it. I will say I prefer rubbing it through out large sections of my hair for a more defined/curly afro than shingling. It's like having day 2-3 hair on day one. There is a little stickiness but it goes away over time. My hair lady for about a week with just putting it in 3 twists at night and fluffing the next day. Right now it's my first choice when doing my hair.
I had the same issue with this gel, it looked good until Tuesday and then it was dried out, buuut, I didn’t use a leave in because they said you didn’t need one, so that was a mistake, don’t do it without a leave in! I took it back though, I don’t want to deal with it. I can’t seem to find that African Pride gel anywhere!!
My hair definitely did not like The Doux products. Over time It made my hair super frizzy even when in the shower my curls were just not clumping together just this “wet frizz” and “webbing” before I could even realize my curls couldn’t even hold their shape. It’s a no for me
Hey Mo... This is my first Doux purchase. Have not used the gel yet, but will definitely use a compatible leave-in of my choice underneath. Your results looked good to me! Thanks for the tips on how to apply.
Hey boo! The shine is popping but I can definitely see the potential issues with it. I have it but I am worried about how it will play in humid weather. I've only used her co-wash mostly because her other products don't really fit into how I style my hair. BUT now that she has this and the wash n go collection I've grabbed them all. I love the co-wash so I have high hopes. Great vid as always girlie!
Thank you boo! I saw that you got the wash n go collection! I didn’t pick it up but I was definitely on the fence, so I’ve been eagerly awaiting your thoughts lol. Thank you for watching! 💗
@@AllThingsMoElle Since watching your video I tried the Doux products. Not a fan! My hair was not happy. I threw them out, cut my losses and sticking with what I know works for my hair.
The gel with the hardest cast that I’ve tried so far is the styling gel from Style Factor Edge Booster! I also hear that the Jello from Eco Slay has a super hard cast too but I haven’t tried that one.
Do you remember where you purchased the hair sectioning clips you’re using at the beginning of the video? I’ve been searching all over for these specific ones and can’t find them.

@@AllThingsMoElle so I did that and it’s actually nice. But it won’t hold during long periods of sweating. So here’s what imma do. I’ll try a mousse on top of the gel and see what that does also
The only gel that I’ve tried that gets close to that is Kinky Curly’s Curly Custard. You still get a cast, but the curls aren’t super crunchy. I have yet to try a gel that does all of those things while still leaving the curls soft, for my hair type.

The Mousse and gel together works really well. And it's best used in less humid weather.
