    Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your experience. Glad to hear you are doing well in your recovery. It is a scary road that I must go on shortly. I have 3 issues with my heart - ascending thoracic aorta aneurysm, 2 blocked arteries and a moderately leaky valve. I’m still in shock about my condition. Again, it has been very assuring and helpful in watching your videos. Thank you again…and, hopefully, no more those episodes.

      You'll do great. It's not easy to come to grips with, but there are many of us that have gone through it. Recovery has it bumps, but I feel like I've turned yet another corner 14 months out and rarely have anything that feels off.

      Thanks for the kind words. So far, the metoprolol seems to be helping. I'll have another update at the 6 month mark.

    I so feel your struggle. I’m one month post opt open heart had my aortic valve replaced for the 2nd time and when I came home I had some anxiety for the first couple days when I lay in bed when I had the oxygen on like I couldn’t breathe, so I took the oxygen off and also had to have a night light on to sleep or I couldn’t breathe and that’s a Horrible feeling. Thank God that’s over!

      It has definitely been the worst part of recovery for me. Being on the beta blocker for the last few weeks seems to have helped me a good bit with the anxiety. I hope your recovery goes well.

    I’ve just been told I will need open heart surgery to fix a bicuspid valve with aortic stenosis. I’ve watched all your videos to date and want to wish you well with your ongoing journey.
    I estimate I’m 1-2 months from the actual surgery as I’m getting Dental clearance finalized and some additional testing so I will continue following you.
    I’m 28 years older than you so I anticipate a tough recovery as well just based on my age but as you said each person’s recovery is different so I’ll just have to wait and see.
    So have a Merry Christmas and hopefully 2024 will be a good year for the both of us!

      Merry Christmas to you! I hope all goes well and you have an easy recovery. Just know that there are more of us out there that have gone through it and hopefully that encourages you on your journey.

    Thank you for your videos. I was born in 1993 with a congenital heart defect called Tricuspid Valve Atresia (I have no right ventricle) and had what is called a Fontan open heart surgery in 1994. Starting in 2017 I've struggled with atrial flutter, nearly died in 2020, and just this year started having more episodes of flutter as well as bradycardia and low BP from the meds I was on. I just had a Fontan Revision (an update to my old surgery), a maze procedure and a pacemaker placed on December 5th. Our surgeries may not be the the same but seeing your recovery and story has been an encouragement to me as I move forward after all this. You are in my prayers and I hope that your doctors are able to get the V-Tach situation figured out. God bless you.

    I had aortic valve replacement and 3 way bypass. I did not have his problems. So if you get this surgery, dont worry, you may not have this mans issues.

      Thank you for watching. I'm glad your recovery went well, I have several friends that didn't have these issues along the way either. I can only share my experience and hope it encourages some.

    Thanks again for sharing and posting these video…so I had the exact same open heart surgery as you, and got the on-x valve. What you are describing I have experienced the same feelings and symptoms. I also see my pulse in my vision every now and then. I’m about 6 weeks out from surgery. Thanks again man for all these videos it really is useful and even reassuring in some ways too

    Tough recovery Jeff but gotta keep pushing. All your symptoms you are experiencing now I've experienced after I had an episode with a blackout. I've never experienced anxiety especially when I have to drive until recently. I've forced myself to not let the anxiety to take over my life. I've done some tests for my heart and found out I need open heart surgery including an aortic valve replacement. I've been booked in for early January for the operation and let's see what happens after that. All the best for the festive season to you and your family and I hope all goes well moving forward.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. My son is 16 and he has Bicuspid Aortic Valve. We are torn in between 2 opinions from major hospitals. One side is telling us we have to do surgery as soon as possible (within 3 months) and the other opinion is not recommending surgery at this time and would wait if numbers are stable. As a parent, I feel like both opinions made sense but I don’t know what is right? From your experience how bad your numbers were bad before you had to do surgery?

    • @bicuspidaorticvalvereplacement
      @bicuspidaorticvalvereplacement  11 месяцев назад +1

      Everyone is different. Multiple opinions are definitely smart. My numbers were monitored for 21 years so there was lots of data that pointed toward this being the right time for me. I hope all goes will with your son.

      I tune it out most of the time. I can make myself hyper focused on it sometimes though. It's a part of life now and for the most part, I doesn't bother me.
