Obviously there is a demand for this career but its not one you will get rich on IMHO but I dont think people choose it to get rich anyway. Kudos to those that work this field. The respect and open mindset & Maturity regarding Artist,Art is more in the Europe or the north americas OR Far East Asia & Kangaroo lands , I have seen people grow in life in those societies.
      In my country no one gives a shit, to sustain in such society you have to be an Engineer ,Doctor ,Government Employee,IT guy etc.
      because we are taught to run before marksheets, marks , degrees. WE are taught to Compete , you pull others down and move forward
      it is what it is .
      _I won't mention the country obviously , we can't take the truth_

    3D modelling will be necessary for a long time to come however, the advances provided by photogrammetry will likely render 3D modeling, at least when it comes to hard surface modeling of real world objects, less relevant except for the retopology stage in which case, it may or may not become a full time job. Modeling 3D prototypes of concept art or anything that has no real world equivalent will be the main emphasis for 3D modeling fields in the future.

    If you're just starting, you will need determination, and you need to be able to learn things by yourself. Then, you will need to have good skills and a good portfolio to get a job, or pure luck. Also it's true that you won't make much money making games. Architecture or industrial 3D is profitable though.

    I'd say the job market for 3D modelling is quite scarce outside of the USA, Canada and England.
    If you live outside those countries, you'll be more likely to end up at an architectual studio or applied games. Atleast if you want job security that is.
    It's very unlikely you'll end up doing cool things like for gaming or cinematography and the pay can be very diverse.
    If you don't live in the previous countries I mentioned prior, i'd suggest becoming a VFX artist and learning 3d modelling on the side.
    Do not specialise and become a general artist being able to do multiple things.
    This way because the job market is so small, you can apply for jobs in multiple areas; VFX, ArchViz, Gaming, Applied games etc.
    For example I am a 3D artist and live in The Netherlands and get paid about ~€27K a year before taxes, which is a normal pay for Dutch standards but you can earn 1/3rd more in other countries I mentioned prior.

      Should I learn to code instead of modeling? I'm 18 y.o. and don't know what to do in my life. I love draw, but I can only make money of it by taking comissions online lol. I think about web (html, css, java), web design (ux/ui) and 3d modeling. Can't decide which one should I do

    • @ishitrealbad3039
      @ishitrealbad3039 Год назад

      @@funkypossum6403 it actually really depends on where you live and what you're really passionate about.
      If you don't live in a country where being a 3D artist career pays enough, best thing to do is study abroad and get an internship in that country too.
      Also Web frontend and 3D modelling are two really seperate things.
      And yeah there's not a lot of money in 2D art unless you become a concept artist and study at FZD in singapore.

    Current I'm 16 year old and i have been using blender for the past 9 months. I live in an Asian country and i think I can earn a living only by getting a job in big companies like rockstar games and Ubisoft. I want to be a 3d modeler and an environment artist too so I can have multiple options to work on. So I don't know if I will make enough money to live cause I have a really low end pc I am working on.

    • @AlanisCastellanos
      @AlanisCastellanos 2 года назад +6

      just do a looot of sesearch bro, look for one specific area you are interested in (ej: videogames, 3d animation for tv, vfx) and choose between realism and stylized. Get to one specific thing (ej what im looking forward to is 3d environmental artist for videogames). And that way your research job will be much easiear and you'll have to learn only the fundamental. What should be in a portfolio? what the pros have, look who are the people that already work on the big industries, look the artstation profile for the people that made the arcane characters, who are the people that did the vfx on game of thrones, and analize them, see what they do and what they use and you do the same. Im no expert to talk since im currently not able to make a living out of it, but i do think it will make things much easier and straight forward. And above everything, always stay focused.

      Only if you do freelance work.
      The amount of pay you get for being an artist is very different from country to country, you can almost get paid double in a neighbouring country for example.
      Also in some countries the job market is bigger.
      The best countries to work in for CGI/VFX/Gaming stuff would be USA, Canada and England. There the job market is plenty and you get paid the most in those countries too.

Now ai is comming, it is targeting mostly photorealism and vfx so forget those fields. Getting job ecen in england, us or canada is near impossible unles you are senior modeler. Well to add on top of that i cant find a job, my health is fucked so im on the verge of becomming homeless. Merry fucking christmas fellow 3d artist. @@nonametrigger hello, well... let me start here. After some time when I posted that message above I got a job a lt a startup (3d artist/graphicdl designer role) at a crypto/ai company. My main tasks were to help make websites, make models, help build online simple game and many similar projects. After working in there for 6 months they really started pissing me off. There was np sttucture at all, communication level was very bad inside the company. It even got to the point where CEO literally told me take a project do it yourself alone or hire someone. Well trash. Iverall it was a scammy company (they had over 200, lawsuits in the last year) yes crazyy.. so I worked there for like 6 months then my salary was delayed for people in the company for like month, they kept promising me that they will pay, anyway I said "ni salary, no work, ill continue working after you pay my last salary". Thats hiw it ended. I was scammed few thousand, never paid me. (Can't do anything from legal side too) that's real life.

      @@nonametrigger Anyway, few weeks ago I got a job, in a respectable furniture making company "Vilmers". Role: "product graphic designer". I will be making 3d visualizations, as well as creating technical sheet for furnite etc. The company is great so far. Tho I am not putting too, too much hope. U will work there for as long as I can because the company seems really good. However the AI is really coming fast at us, 3d artist and graphic designers. Probably best choice for me would be to start learning something else (something that won't be taken over by AI soon) luke: doctors, phychologist, government officials, etc.. there are some branches which won't be taken over soon, however I hate all that shit so for now I'll just work here, and hope that AI does't replace me. Or at least does't replace me too soon. I mean most jobs will be replaced anyway so governments will have to implement some kind of new laws, the whole system will chane how people get paid, how that works because whole world won't rely as much on manual labour. Anyway I guess best thing I can do is seach for something that I like and won't be replaced by AI soon.
