Elden Ring is my game of the year and perhaps in my top five of all time. I got addicted to that game at launch like no other game ever before. I skipped meals to keep playing it.
23:13 I agree. I’m kinda sick of open worlds in general. The caves and dungeons were by far the highlights of the game. I hope the next fromsoft game is more linear.
Great video as always :). In my opinion Elden Ring is game of the year, but i get why it isn't for some people and it doesn't make me upset or personally mad like it does to other people.
Albino have you ever tried the Xenoblade games? Xenoblade Chronicles 3 came out in July and it is a standalone story and great game with good combat mechanics you could check out
Disagree completely. Just another dull collect-aton open world in the same camp as most modern Ubisoft games, uninteresting and unnecessarily convoluted story. and a dull boring and frankly stupid protagonist. The only enjoyment i had was in the first game discovering what happened to the humans everything else has been super repetitive and uninteresting
Great video. Thanks for the effort! I always pick up a couple games based on your videos and really enjoy them. You should get affiliate links if that’s even possible
My top 5 1. Xenoblade chronicles 3, it not only met my high expectations but it exceeded them. 2. Horizon forbidden west, the only bad thing I can think of is that it takes too long to get to San Francisco but I’m hyped for burning shores. 3. Legends arceus. The best Pokémon experience I’ve had in years. 4. God of war ragnarok, the story was great but the gameplay was underwhelming. 5. Splatoon 3. This is here because I didn’t know what else to put
Temtem is a ridiculously good game. Common battles are dangerous & money isn't handed out like candy. The double battles can quickly wear your team down & force you to make overexertion plays that damage your tem significantly, which can force players to constantly back track to restore them. Items actually have more value because everything good is expensive & you have limited funds. The type chart is really balanced. I recommend anyone get TemTem.
Omfg the longer I listened to this the funnier it got. Great vid! 'Hello... that's all I'm getting tonight?' Had me dying (And that has emulated so many real life experiences as a gay dude you don't even know how accurate AF that was)
God of war Ragnarok is also my game of the year. I haven't cried playing a game in a long time. The best story in the franchise hands down, I love the fact that kratos isn't looking to fight anyone but when he has to it sucks to be that god, monster or whatever. It's just a masterpiece.
Played the hell outta Horizon Zero Dawn, my GOTY 2017 and loved every minute of it. Whilst I did enjoy forbidden west, it just felt like something was missing to me, and i still cant figure out what :( tho it still broke my top 3... 3: Horizon Forbidden West 2: Pokemon Legends Arceus 1. God of War Ragnarok
@@acebreaker7 I remember reading somewhere that digital downloads weren't counted towards the forbidden west sales numbers I think it was due to it being a big sailing bundle item due to the scarcity of the PS5 but even still forbidden west has done well to
If you're noticing less interest in your God of War Ragnarok boss ranking, I personally chose to avoid the risk of being spoiled. I'll watch your FromSoft boss rankings immediately because there is no story to be spoiled by ranking bosses. I'll watch when I beat the game, but I WILL watch. Just not right now.
I don’t know why Ghostwire wasn’t a horror game when Tango literally has so much survival horror talent. Evil Within 2 had an interesting small open world so it sucks that they made Ghostwire’s so lame
Rogue legacy 2 was soooo fucking boring And the combat and level design was soporific Nobody saves the world however was fantastic. I wasn't crazy about stray Did you not play Infernax? I always hated Ubisoft game design
I honestly can’t help but feel that Elden Ring only beat Ragnarök at the Game Awards because it was supposed to. It was touted as this grand undertaking and revitalization of the Souls genre and it most definitely was, but I also felt like at least part of its appeal was in articles and magazines saying it was good and that sort of just being the expected opinion to have lmao
I feel another reason is that GOW4 won GOTY in 2018. Even though Ragnarok is better in almost every conceivable way than GOW4, it still uses it as the foundation and therefore it would make more sense to give the award to the game that "revolutionised" the gaming landscape.
@@stormblade2895 But by that metric, Elden Ring used Dark Souls as a foundation, yeah? They didn’t invent any mechanics in that game iirc, just improved and innovated the ones that were there
@@ICTheAlchemist I did think of that, but as you said, it revitalised the souls genre by adding mechanics that, while were already invented, were new to the souls series. I wouldn't say Ragnarok adds any new revolutionary features, just improves on what was already there. I'm not even saying that this makes Elden Ring better than Ragnarok, just that I believe this is the reason why.
Ragnarok is THE game, and my favorite game of all time, it definitely deserved GOTY, amazing gameplay, narrative, art design, graphics, characters, enemy variety, bosses, a bigger meaningful semi open world… there is no doubt that this game is at the top of the list for many and near the top for others. Masterpiece!🤌🏽
23:20 “I want to know where to go so I can go somewhere else” lol I feel that
Elden Ring still has that though, just don’t follow the light of grace. Elden Ring does open world exploration far better.

Neon white placing so high is glorious.
My favorite game of the year by far.

What were your thoughts on Sifu? It would probably be in my top 5 of the year.
Based on what he said in his Game Awards video, he probably would have ranked Sifu as a Notable Exception
Albino have you ever tried the Xenoblade games? Xenoblade Chronicles 3 came out in July and it is a standalone story and great game with good combat mechanics you could check out
Really happy with the Neon White placing
I know it was a GA nominee but I felt like I was talking to a wall when trying to recommend it to people
Absolutely agree with your points on Horizon. An amazing game being shitted on for no reason.

You’re the reason I gave Neon White a chance. Loving it so far. Seems like a gem of 2022.
Your videos are the reason why I decided to try out Teardown. Immediately became one of my favorite games of all time
Holy Shit seeing Midnight Suns in the top 3 is not what I was expecting. I didn't think anyone knew that game existed tbh

Wells since Grounded is number 6 he should be continuing the play through, right?

Salt and Sacrifice was heart breaking!

3: Horizon Forbidden West
2: Pokemon Legends Arceus
1. God of War Ragnarok
My favorite games god of war god of war and elden ring I did not play everything else I liked the Callisto protocol but not as much as the others
You should check out an indie game called Yomi Hustle. Came out recently too.
Did you play Evil West? It's my GOTY.
My goty is xenoblade 3
Horizon just had terrible luck with their release dates. Didn't they release the first one the same week as breath of the wild?
Yeah. Whoever is making those calls needs to have their job reconsidered lol
It wasn't their call botw got pushed back as did elden ring
Horzion 1 still sold incredibly well regardless so it didn’t matter that much

Surprised that Tunic wasn’t mentioned, although I may have just missed it cause I was half listening to the video half working
Great list. Of the ones I played my top 3 would be gow, horizon 2 and pentiment
Next year though, my wallet and brains will burn.
I also liked eastward
Game I hated that everyone else liked was inscription
The ending pissed me off after the gameplay frustrated the fuck out of me
Salt and sacrifice was such a let down for me
I want you to raise my kids.
Rogue legacy 2 was soooo fucking boring And the combat and level design was soporific
Nobody saves the world however was fantastic.
I wasn't crazy about stray

To be fair people were also saying ragnarok would compete for game of the year before it even released which biased many ppl toward it as well

Ragnaroks story disappointed me. Great game, but the story left me with a lot more to be desired. I won’t post spoilers.. it was just meh
