    Both sound killer but Dual Rectifier is that goddamn modern tone !
    Liked these tones, Cheers Brother !

    Rectifier all the way baby, that 90s crushing metal tone. You got some great riffs and tones here

    I am fortunate enough to own both amps . love them both . Hard for me to say which sounds " better " . I feel they sound equally great , just different .

    My eyes choose the mark , but my ears choose the rec. People aren't kidding about the 2ch vs 3 ch rec debate, this one sounds bone crushing.

    • @Guitarsthatkill
      @Guitarsthatkill 7 лет назад +3

      The Mark can be set close to the Rec sound. Its just down to the specific choice of the Vidmaker which tone, EQ wattage speaker etc etc Trying to sum up an amp as versatile as the Mark V in one subjective clip of one mode is like trying to describe the shape of the T-1000 in T2 just by it's 'cop mode' appearance. Select Extreme mode: Jam the 2200hz slider to full along with the 80 hz, scoop the 200hz slider to just under Mid, Keep the mid slider all the way off, the 6600hz down to halfish and you start to get there. In pentode. Especially with the V4 mod.Dial the preamp Eq bass heavy and with loads of gain. Prescence like half way. Then theres not much in it.

    Definitely the Mark V. I like the mid range presence.

    • @jmcsquared18
      @jmcsquared18 6 лет назад +4

      Yeah it definitely sounds more modern, like the bottom end is tightly saturated; whereas the Recta sounds more classic.

    • @isodoubIet
      @isodoubIet 5 лет назад +3

      @@jmcsquared18 Good ear; the recto is essentially a modified SLO-100, which itself is basically a hot-rodded plexi. The Mesa Mark series is derived from some blackface fender amps, and you can still see the influence in the tone stack for instance, but it's had to change a lot to accommodate the high gain. The graphic eq is part of that, because the tone stack is pre-gain just as in a typical Fender, and that allows for a lot of flexibility in shaping the tone and the distortion, which can sound 'modern' if you dial it that way. Another cool thing is that the lead stage always has some clean mixed in, which helps to keep the bass from getting muddy and the treble from getting fizzy.

    Both are so different..I do feel like there is nothing like a boosted rectifier ,that almost cannot be beaten..however the Mark V is so versatile and still sounds incredible.

  • @Stubz_Perez
    @Stubz_Perez 8 лет назад +10

    The Mark V kinda has that swept sound (mainly bc of the 5-band eq) but it also has that pretty polished and naturally compressed sound that I like. The Dual Rectifier has that more raw, grittier sound that I also like a lot. Both are amps I hope to get in the future.

    • @parksoo-kim6908
      @parksoo-kim6908 Год назад +1

      When I owned the mark v, I didn't like the sound with the mids pushed or even flat on the 5 band EQ. It sounded very honky. Sadly I also got lost in the live mix when playing with a band with another guitar player.

  • @vidmohit4684
    @vidmohit4684 6 лет назад +10

    Both sound great. I feel that the mark v could have been dialed in better though and in this video the rectifier sounds better.

  • @ivenstein
    @ivenstein 6 лет назад +6

    the Mark when youre the only guitarist in the band, because of the midrange it has more this sound of wall feeling. definitely the Recto when 2 guits are playing because of a better assertiveness and more (agressive) clearness.

    • @icurededs
      @icurededs 8 лет назад +1

      +DimeWyldeSynTremonti Keep screwing around with that head brother. They take a LONG time to dial in. That being said, I have a modern 3 channel Voodoo DR head. I'd sell my balls before I parted with that thing. It's killer. I'm thinking of trading my Orange rockerverb 100 mk1 for an offer for a MkV. You can get some killer tones dialed in with one of those suckers.

    • @DimeWyldeSynTremonti
      @DimeWyldeSynTremonti 8 лет назад +3

      +Adrian Stock yeah I know what you mean. I wasn't sure I made the right choice for the first few weeks, but I've learned my way around it and can get basically every sound I want out of it. It really needs some volume to shine, but oh man can it shine. I LOVE the DR's tone here, but I've reached a point where I don't believe I'll ever part with my Mark V. I'll just have to get a DR to put next to it. I can't quite get the Mark to do the rectifier sound; it's just voiced much too differently, but with an eq in the loop and a boost out front, I can get scary close with Mark 1 mode on channel 2 and Mark IV mode on channel 3. Stupid good modern metal tones, and of course the lead tones are to die for; so expressive and dynamic. Boogies are fricken awesome.

      the mark is alot less sharp and more throaty, sits tight and fat in the mix withotu being overpowering

    • @guitarwhores753

      The mids are scooped in the vid on the Mark. You should be able to get a closer sound by boosting the mids.

  • @juztinking8813
    @juztinking8813 5 лет назад +3

    I just sold my dual rectifier and kept the Mark V. It is far more versatile and can be just as brutal without being scooped or loose.

  • @Aint1S
    @Aint1S 4 года назад +1

    The Mark V actually has the same frequencies in the output, but the Dual Rectifier has cut some of the cut mids out. Compared to an orange, they have the mids in...
    At this point, either one will do the job unless you really want the all of the mids. Mark V

  • @youztuber5000
    @youztuber5000 2 года назад +1

    In my experience, the dual rec is more muted sounding and loose and sounds old compared to the mark v which is extremely clear, open, and tight. More modern high gain sound. Also more versatile.
    If you want that particular loose and muffled vintagy character, dual rec could be for you.

  • @grantrobinson4537
    @grantrobinson4537 9 лет назад +4

  • @GuitarsAndSynths

    Both sound awesome............... The dual has a little more energy but the mark V has a more vintage classic metal tone to it. With the Mark V I think kinda of Metallica. I think Metallica used the Mark IIC+ with a Marshall cab for a while

    Put a gun to my head I'm gonna go Dual Rec all the way everyday, but I have a platinum Voodoo modded 3 channel, and it smokes the road kings and anything else out there. Still....I would love to own a MkV. They both sound great, again instant "desert island for life" amp head...gotta go Dual Rec, but that MkV kills it. They take a WHILE to dial in though, be patient.

    The Dual sounds more loose and warm with more punch just wished it had the fast attacks and tights of old school Marshall otherwise the dual rect owns.

    Stating my bias now because I have a dual recto.
    Though the rectifier seems to have a sloshy and looser tone, I still like it more due to it's distinctive sound. The mark V sounds great(perhaps better) but both are so versatile and hard to compare with one setting on each. I just know that the recto no matter what setting your on seems to have that delayed, almost chorus effect that I love and defined the late 90s and early 2000s.
