That Memorex ad was from the days when the company actually made decent quality recording tape. Arthur Prysock was the singer on those classic Lowenbrau commercials. I love watching old TV commercials Fred. Thanks for giving me another excuse to watch more of them!
Good stuff Fred! That Paul Anka song should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the longest earworm in history, 50 years later and I'm still singing it! 😂❤
On one hand, I’m glad I lived through the 70s, even if I was just a kid. On the other hand, I’m glad it’s over too. Cause some of that stuff was out there. 🙂
I had On TV when it first made its debut. It showed rollar derby shows (local) and showing a mesh of old movies scenes with a top 40 backdrop . And W4 FM was a powerhouse station for rock back then . Great memories indeed . 😄
0:12 - The woman in the background is likely Anka's wife with 2 of his 5 daughters. Their names all started with A, like his wife Arlene's, and 1 of his daughters is married to Jason Bateman. 0:42 - I remember the earlier Memorex ads where Ella's voice shattered glass both live & on tape. I remember when Ray Charles hosted SNL back in 1977 (I saw it as a rerun.), "Ella" (Garrett Morris in drag) shattered Ray's glasses in a "Mamorex" ad. 1:12 - The MASH clip is from S6's "War of Nerves", OAD 10/11/1977. Claudette Nevins, in this night's LOU GRANT promo, made a MASH guest appearance in S8. 5:30 - it's made to look like a bigger deal than it is, but Space Mountain to me was just an indoor roller coaster when I rode it. 8:17 - The TV GUIDE seen is from Mar. 31, 1979. If I can find my copy, maybe I can find this contest. 10:17 - I remember a show on NBC with this same slogan about Americans (not America) sending its athletes to the 1980 Olympics. I think Gary Coleman & O.J. Simpson were among those who appeared. I hope the donors got their money back, as the US boycotted those Olympics. 11:17 - The ABC promos are from May 8, 1979. That LAVERNE & SHIRLEY episode provided a bit used for the final season's opening after Shirley left. Since Shirley was submerged in the beer first, she pulled Laverne under in the opening, so she was still in the opening even if not seen in person.
Great memories again Fred: Remember when the SCTV cast did a parody of the Memorex commercial. Kind of tough to watch the Bill Cosby pudding ad now though.
The guy in the _Bell Rocket Pack_ notwithstanding, _Celotex_ never did make any roofs in the 21st Century. They declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1990 only emerging in 1996. The roofing part of the business was sold in 2000. Seems that most if not all _Celotex_ products contained asbestos.
Whaaa, Sharp calculators! 🧮 Funny how only Mr. This and Mr. That flew United Airlines. 😏 But never mind, it all still "Feels so Good". Thanks, Fred. 💜🤟
Who would have thought, commercials that were actually interesting to watch. 👍

Sure thing, Ernest.

Those Ad men had no shame or taste, naturally they produced fantastic work. Every one a gem.
Never get enough of the 70s, a great time that will never come again, sadly!
I miss the 70s
Me too!
Fred has a singular talent for bringing a little joy to a lot of people
Then I'm serving my purpose, PNW.
@@FredFlix you certainly are my friend

Great to see an upload from you Fred! Grateful as always for entertainment that distracts from the crap that comes with life! LoL!❤❤❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Chantelle.
Loved learning shorthand
Im 60 now and I still don't get any respect!😂
What a screwy time for TV commercials.
Thanks, FredFlix. 😉
You're welcome, Luis.
Shorthand and an IBM Selectric.
That was a fantastic video. Thank you.
You're welcome, l j.
Loved those Miller Lite commercials. So weird to see Bruce Jenner. "Subscription TV" seemed so new and exciting. How things change.
Thx Fredflix!! Even the commercials were better 📺👍🗽🙏🇺🇸
And far less of 'em, wheeler.
I love my life today, but I do miss being carefree and having no responsibility.

More great info, Jon. I didn't know Bateman married an Anka.

It has a whole new meaning now, Scott.
Thank you!
You're welcome, Tom.
I loved the On-Tv segment! Back then "we" built bootleg box kits and watched for free. WOW Great time's!
Another great one, Fred 👍
Thanks, 3luckydog.
I have to know if the jingle on that United Airline commercial was inspired by Paul Simon's 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover?

Thank you Fred. Kodak commercial hit a string
You're welcome, Joseph.
Tastes great! Less filling! 😂
This stuff is better than therapy. And cheaper. 👍
You said it, dgm.
Both Kodak and Chuck Mangione are from Rochester NY.
People in our area heard him a lot on the radio.

Re: The Betty Owens School: Is Gregg shorthand (or any other shorthand method for that matter) even taught anywhere these days?
That Jenner commercial was hilarious knowing what we know now.
Detroiter Fred ?
Not a bit, dace.
Bruce Jenner..... hahahahaha!
