The 4-Arch concrete viaduct bridge you showed was built using the same technique that Henry Flagler used to build the Key West extension for the Florida East Coast Railroad.
Kovolchick Salvage company bought this RR during the early 1960's to tear it all out and junk it but the owner Nick Kovolchick fell in love with it and couldn't do it and began restoration of it and make some of it functional again
@MissRailfan thanks for sharing this information I knew Joey didn't want it but I actually thought that the historical society acquired it I'm glad it got saved!! I knew this because my father worked for Kovolchick and as kids we got to ride for free and used to take a picnic basket along and eat in the park childhood memories stay with us forever and thank you again for the extra information I didn't know
Reminds me of my first expedition out to search for EBT remains almost a decade ago. There is soo much more to see out there. If you're ever feeling like seeing some other neat landmarks give me a shout. I'd like to hike into Rocky Ridge this year.
There wasn't much of the EBT that was dual gauge, just the Mount Union Yard which interchanged with the PRR. The end of dual gauge track is roughly halfway between the fiberglass tank factory and the big grade crossing. About where the break in the video is.
If you ever feel like coming up to Yankee land, I know of a good rail trail you might be interested in, an old rail line that ran from the Forest City Pennsylvania area in to New York State, the line was originally built by the Erie Railroad then sold to the Delaware & Hudson (D&H) , it ceased rail traffic in 1986 and the line was formally abandoned and the rails removed by 1989/90 the Pennsylvania side is a rail trail, the New York side is now private property per the land owners along the right of way
Im from the Southern Tier of NY, the Starrucca Viaduct is at the one end of a rail trail. I been up and down us11 a lot along the old DLW. :) Erie, DLW, PRR, and at one time LV ran in my hometown :P Now all thats left is a portion of the PRR and Erie/EL now NS.
They've rehabed from Orbisonia to Colegate Grove; the old tourist line. Now they're working southbound; better scenery and less legal troubles. See the videos here. @@MissRailfan
My thoughts also. Southwest of Orbisonia around Broad Top City it appears (on Google Maps) that active mining and quarry activity is going on. Trucking product out to market must be costly when a rail line may be able to serve the market.
The more interesting line goes to Robertsdale and Rocky Ridge Branch. It has nice ruling grades and tunnels. The Mt Union portion of the line is flat and not as interesting operations wise
Interesting history, thanks for sharing..😊
Thanks for watching
great view of jacks mountain at the end of the video, i spent summers in mt union in the 70s at my paps house, great times, still have family up there
Glad you enjoyed it

Im glad he saved the RR. The son/grandson didnt want the rr anymore, if i remember right. So three millionaires bought it. :D

I finally saw EBT on my birthday 2yrs ago, I posted a video of it on my channel. Worth a wait!
Excellent video, this is part of the line no one ever seems to visit, at least on camera!
Thanks! Very true!

Roger! My bf and I hiked the 1k steps to the tip top this past yr. That rr was interesting.
That's interesting at 5:16. I haven't seen much of the EBT that was dual gauge.

@@MissRailfan lol yeah, the Starrucca Viaduct is just a few miles from me, love that monstrosity, when was the last time you were in the area here?
Could the line be acquired and made useable. Looks awsome.
Idk what EBT foundation wants to do going toward Mt Union.
