    You, sir, are a blessing! I always hear that Orléan is a fantastic game but I would always lose track in reviews and explanations what the game really is all about. There are dozens of channels who present and explain games, some of them taking their sweet sweet time but you always manage to deliver a coherent and comprehensible overview in a very reasonable time! I always enjoy watching your content and I hope I can count on future How To Play's from you!

    At 17:00 what's the difference between leaving a piece on the board and leaving it in your market?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 лет назад +4

      If it's in your market, you can freely assign it to a space (as long as it could go there). When it's already on a space on your board, you can't just reassign it to another space - it has to stay there (unless you use the option, as detailed at 17:00 to reclaim a piece from your board to your market, by drawing fewer tokens).

  • @catzilla80
    @catzilla80 3 года назад

    Hi Rodney, thanks for your great videos, anyway, I think you made an error in regards to coins, it says in the rule book that they are not limited, so even if they run out you can use something else as money.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  3 года назад +1

      Unfortunately there are different printings of the rule book, and this instruction was given differently in the different printings - so it's right, or wrong, depending on which rule book you have. I'm not sure if they ever finally gave an official ruling on it.

    • @smackhead
      @smackhead Месяц назад

      @@WatchItPlayed Which is exactly why 'house rules' shouldn't be frowned apon. I can list of the top of my head over a dozen games whose rules have changed one way or another - and sometimes back again - whilst introducing new rules.
      But you still get the die hards saying 'but not in the rules'
      Root is the prime example of this - everyone 'knew' that changes had to be made as soon as it came out.. as it stands they've change the 'rules' over 1st, 2nd, 3rd... 99th printing. Leder even has an errata page on their website for those who constrain themselves to the 'official rules' they received when they bought the game.
      Whatever makes the game sensible, fun, and competitive for *you* and your gaming group is what matters.

      +George “Crazy Spaniard” Morgan I tend to avoid commenting on my personal play experience, as I think a lot of that is going to come down to how a person interprets what is "too easy". That said, when we played, we did tend to play with the events in mind, to ensure we were mostly prepared for their effects. Losing a monk during a plague certainly hurts though :)

    Can someone explain exactly how the Gunpowder tower works? Can you send one of the two place followers to the beneficial Deeds and used the other for an action?

      Hey there, I avoid getting into specific card effects in my videos, as that's a level of detail I can't really cover with all the games I feature. I'd recommend checking the BoardGameGeek forums.

    Are you allowed to do the same action twice?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  8 лет назад

      I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You can take an action once you have it's followers filled in - but then you remove them - so you can't take that action again until it's refilled again (the one exception is the Town Hall, where you can remove 1 of the followers at a time to take the action).

    When undergoing torture, i was under the impression that you dont choose to give up a resource, you have to follow the list in the manual until you pay whats owed

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  9 лет назад

      +Mohammed Al-Ateeqi Glad we could help clear it up :) From the rules: "You may replace missing coins with any mix of items from this list (e.g. if you owe 5 coins, you may replace them with 1 Follower, 2 Trading Stations, and 2 Development Points)."

    Thanks Rodney. I recently picked this up, but my rulebook says coins are unlimited. Is this wrong or an updated version?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  4 года назад

      This is difficult to answer as I shot this long enough ago that I don't remember what I said in the video, and I don't know if they changed something in the rule book (or if the rule book is wrong, which sometimes happens - making the video the more correct version). I did work with the publisher on this though, I can say that :)

      @@lexodius Did some digging back through time, and when TMG released this, there intention was that the coins would be limited, which is why I said this in the video. But as you can see there is debate over this still: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1294845/money

      I've heard that different languages had different rules for this. This video is teaching the English rules, and coins being limited was the intention of the English publisher at the time.

      @@lippifi3941 Correct - the English publisher had a different ruling. Not sure if that's what they are still sticking with, but it was at the time of this recording.
