there was something strangely entertaining about this sketch, despite the absence of laughs
samy said
I agree
Portlandia type humor maybe that audience isn’t used to
Most cut for times have little to no background laughter despite being kinda funny
it's a comment on how fucking stupid ppl are. I quite enjoyed it.
I think the cut for time sketches are usually recorded during the dress rehearsal, which generally get much less laughs
i feel like cecily’s ‘wow okay’ lines sound like something aidy’s characters usually say
Or kyle and beck when they worked at pogie pepperoni's
Good call - she even said the line exactly the same way 👌
I was gonna say I could see both Aidy or Kyle Mooney saying that!
I love how Cecily's voice starts cracking when she's trying not to laugh. It's so cute.
Cecily trying not to break kept me laughing. Fred is one of the funniest people ever to be in SNL.
"Are we that annoying couple?" Yes. Yes, you are, Fred. And I'm here for it.
Cecily's cute struggle to suppress her laugh @ 2:51 & 4:22 is why I'm here
"I see why this was cut."
One word.
Subjectivity.
I'm so glad for RUclips. This was so ridiculously funny to me
Do all cut for times include Kyle Mooney or does everything Kyle does become cut for time
it felt like he was improvising the description of the coat, and someone in the back was making it as it got more and more ridiculous
that took faaaaar too long to get to the punchline
and the punchline was blah
there was a punch line?
That's then point
Some jokes take time to tell. Your life story for instance. BAM!
Hey, I LOLed a couple times.
I know why it was cut ..........KYLE CUT FOR TIME MOONEY !!!
Lmao I’m sorry but I loved this 😂 I thought it was hilarious. Especially when Cecily started laughing.
2021.
The coat with goggles is a real thing now.
With a face mask hanging.
If Fred had his lines better known, the skit would have had better pacing and worked.
Aw why are they unironically cute together
SNL is nothing without the fab 4:
Hader
Wiig
Sandberg
Sudeikis
Their 2 coats are really beautiful!
0:06 when u say the wrong word on TV ....😂😂😂
Ahh yes, NOW I see why this particular scene might have been cut ...
I hadn't watched this video till now because of the negative comments but I just did and to be honest, that's on my favourite snl list now. Loved it.
I ate me a pizza while I watched this. It’s the little things in life.
"It's like Big Bird..." "Who?" 😆
"The Armisen Affect" in full swing
The fact that someone put so much work into these coats and then the sketch good cut! That must be the worst part of working on SNL lmao. At least it got some love on here!
I liked this video for only seeing Fred in it. Sorry, SNL
My beer came out my nose funny..
this is like two sketches in one
I know Sully...🤣😂🤣
I just love Fred and wish we could date
ya this one deserved to be cut lol
Actually her coat looks like it would be very effective in the rain, with the full hood and goggles thing going on.
Fred Armisen makes gold of even the worst written skits
why the hell are they looking at prompters so much. Can't they remember a few lines atleast
I don't think this sketch was just cut for time.
They are really reading lines.
Ground. Chuck.
I can't get over how terrible SNL has become. It's all political propaganda and terrible sketches.
Not even Fred can make these things funny, and that's saying something.
Watch any of the other sketches from last episode
+Evan James I was pleasantly surprised
I'm you can leave now.
you base your decision off one sketch that was cut for time...
He is def not funny . Portlandia is awful cause of him.
I would liked to have seen what they would have done with this skit if the yellow coat had been his.
That was funny. :-D
Who else sent here by the Dana Carvey / David Spade podcast?
This seems like a Steve Martin skit...not Fred
I love the use of the word "friggin'". I've only heard that in New England. .... similar to the modifier "wicked" but a little bit dirtier.
Cunninglinguist in the house! I only toot my own horn{y} cuzz no-one else will.
Lmao this shit was funny. Cecily wanted to laugh so bad when they found his coat.
Man, that woman was just barely holding it together. She was edging the entire clip.
So was Fred he was so ready to laugh omg that final coat was awesome lmao!
Fletcher DeMaine I wouldn’t really use the word edging
joe rogan sent me here
Fred Armisen is so delightfully weird and offbeat. I weirdly love him. His eyes are gorgeous. Cecily Strong can just do no wrong anyway.
Cecily is highly underrated
100% agreed
"I look like some giant, yellow bird" "A big bird!" "WHO?" lmaooo
Boo boo ba ba ba be ba ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ka ek ke ka ka ka ek ek ek koe ka ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ope ope hj hj hj hj bj bj bj bj ui ui ui ui ui ui ui ui ui ui aeu aeu aeu aeu aeu aeu aeu aeu
That's going to be the sticking point in their upcoming relationship...
I like the idea of the goggles on the rim of the hood on her jacket. I hope that's a real thing.
i hope you aren't a real thing
I'm more of a composite.
+525Lines same dude
Came for the appreciation of her jacket, stayed for the surprise foray into ontology.
it is, if you ever see this, look up Massimo Osti's CP company jackets
I feel like someone found that coat in the snl wardrobe closet and they decided to make a sketch out of it
"A pilot would wear to his office at the airport"
Ya duh... Where else would pilots perform their work?!
I’m a flight attendant and that “I know Sully.” line is so accurate when talking to pilots lmao!
I think fred wrote this sketch it was hilarious yet extremely SUBTLE
Oh yeah, I get the feeling that this is a Fred-written sketch.
I think he said Cecily Strong wrote this. Fred mentioned it on the Fly on the Wall podcast.
@@crystinamarie1 Damn you are a scholar of all things nonsense, aren't you darling
I think the long wait until he finally puts on that ridiculous looking coat was worth it. lol
oh shut up.
@@edunoeduno4980 hbu
It was so worth it! I died
Cecily puts her coat on by herself Fred let’s the guy put his coat on lol
Producers: “how many props do you want to incorporate into this sketch?”
Writers: “yes”
"I know Sully" literal sleeper line
I love a sketch that feels written by writers, if that makes sense.
OK, that had a lot of potential but it just went downhill. Maybe it was Fred's delivery, which is surprising, because he is usually on point, no matter how zany the sketch. It's like he was reading the cue cards for the first time. Clunker, guys. Sorry.
This was an okay written sketch but the performance was off, it seemed underprepared so delivery was off
Little known fact: the legends in the costume department at SNL made the final coat while Fred Armisen was describing it in character.
Who knows how they were able to pull it off but they really are a talented bunch.
So true bestie
@@downbythewillow2728
_why thank you captain obvious_
Am I the only one that thought this was actually somewhat funny?
no
sadly yes
The skit was completely saved by the coat.
JLBrandsProduction it was funny! Anything with Fred is !
JLBrandsProduction *** Fred n Cissy are so funny!
Cicely Strong has to be one of the hottest SNL cast members ever.
some weird guy McKinnon is hot but (don't take this as homophobic) she looks like a lesbian which makes sense because she is one.
some weird guy She's the first openly lesbian cast member. Not the first openly gay cast member the was a gay guy on the show in the 80's but I can't remember his name.
Hottest SNL cast member! Um...wow! OK!
Cicely, Victoria Jackson, Christine Ebersole, Jan Hooks, Julia Louis-Dreyfus would be my top five.
msminmichigan
*Joe Piscopo
When he was describing it, I didn't think they would actually come up with this bizarre design of a coat! But they did! And now I want one exactly like that!
I’d be the idiot in the crowd who claps at everything and everything Kyle Mooney does. I love Kyle Mooney.
same 😂
I’m with you!
cecily strong is so beautiful xD and when she says "Ummmm Okayyyy" makes me laugh everytime.
“Now let’s go start our lives” is such an absurd line but for this sketch it works perfectly lmao
It looks like they're ready to fight crime.
LOL!
Looks like they are wanted by fashion police^^
I was waiting for the punch line to be an explanation for why they were acting so badly. This was just weird.
I was just waiting for there to BE a punchline - not the sad whimper of a conclusion this sketch got.
southrules that's not it, it isn't smart comedy. It's an incomplete joke, and fails to finish. And btw I hate dick in a box.
southrules I haven't watched DiaB 100 times, but I have listened to it at least 200 times according to iTunes.
Emmett Del The ending is the funniest part but I wont explain. good luck
They always act like this in 90% of SNL, no nothing exceptionally bad about the acting in this episode.
Gotta love Freddi; "I AM YOUR MOTHER!!!!"
The staring at the cue-cards and the staccato reading makes this weirdly off-putting.
Yea.., I didn't know what was going on. Thought that was part of the joke or something...
agree . just very , very weird ... odd ...
It's a "cut for time" piece so it was probably filmed during dress rehearsal.
Yes, really bad reading. No chemistry between them.
I actually thought he was blind
it was a little dry yeah but it was awesome. the dude is upset about strange coats and he has a ridiculous coat. it's humor 101.. it's just a good creative concepts for a sketch. I'd call it a fine sketch. not the greatest sketch I've ever seen but definitely not the worst.
Cecily, oh, Cecily...so perfect....
This was bad, but also oddly entertaining
Any sketch with Cecily and I'm in, honestly.
It looks like they're ready to fight crime.
3:09 "...I think I'm falling in love with you" As soon as Cecily said that, I would've been like. "You know what? Screw the coat. I don't care if I freeze outside. Let's get out of here and invest heavily on that wonderful feeling you're having about me".
I love how the whole skit is wholesome and sweet
Cecily deserves praise for stifling her laughter to finish the sketch.
Great acting, great writing, and a great mistake cutting this skit.
Considering how hilarious the skits were that actually aired in this successful season finale, there was NO GREAT LOSS IF ANY for that skit being cut for time. Funny concept, but it seemed like Fred Armisen's cue cards were printed in such small type that he couldn't take his eyes off them for very long for fear of losing his place.
I see why this was cut
"For time" obviously.
+Tom Leonard Im implying it was bad
John Smith as was I.
ohhh, I never understood what 'cut for time' meant! I awlways thought it was a segment or something
It means that it originally was done in dress rehearsal, but did not get performed again on the live show. There is always more shit there.
I actually loved this, mainly because I've worked coat check before and have had similar experiences.
Their walk off at the end was worth the whole thing!
I think this is really funny. And most people will disagree, which is fine with me.
I can see why this was cut and the ending was a bit meh but I don't know, for some reason I still kind of liked it!
I think the biggest reason it would be cut is because the host was not in it.
I legit liked his coat! Hahaha! I'd be really intrigued by a guy with this sense of fashion! Not boring at all!
Cut for Time? More like COAT for time!!!!!
I laughed very hard when they found his coat lmao but it started getting really funny when he described it
What a waste of Fred Armisens time and talent..
Lighten up. He's just a fucking comedian, it's not like he discovered the cure for cancer.
+Sock Puppet Superstar that's how bad it is.
Pickeledcoconut Meh. He isn't very funny. I like the idea of portlandia but it just isn't funny. Gave it a few tries . So many misses .
zero shits given to your opinions
agreed
The most elegant ending of any SNL sketch, ever.
this sketch is brilliant. obvious that the goodneighbor boys wrote it. it is full of laughs all the way through. if you haven't watched much kyle it'll go over your head. dialogue is brilliant and so is delivery.
4:18 Dude, I laughed so hard when they found his coat! lol! 🦝
I think this had potential, it was just just delivered wrong.
These Cut for Time sketches are excellent. Kind of Pythonesque.
This was ridiculously mediocre.
what high praise.
I loved it.
I don't even understand how they thought this premise was going to work. The reveal is the coats? Like, the coats they were wearing when they came in?
JavierBacon well it’s a date, so they probably didn’t come in together.. critical thinking is key
Let's be honest: this wasn't cut for "time" reasons...
I kept thinking there was going to be a punchline related to why these usually good SNL players were acting so bad. Nope!
Also, you guys are hilarious
Fred especially
You know what my favorite meat is? And I probably shouldn't be saying this on a first date: it's ground chuck.
This is was awkward lolllllll love it
Poor Cecily was in agony most of the sketch trying not to laugh!
Cecily puts her coat on by herself Fred let’s the guy put his coat on lol
Comment bot. Downvoted and reported.
I'm a pilot, MAN. And it's MAY, DUDE.
Part of the reason cecily is so attractive is because she is so good at being a comedic actor just adds more flavor to her pot of awesomeness lol
Cutting this was definitely the right call.
