    Nice video, I will say on the subject of the ep-133 limitation and it being more of a "toy" that it seems like the product launch was rushed and it was released incomplete. I believe as a straight up upgrade of the po-33 (some would say a "mkII") it is still unable to do some of the things the tiny PO could (like recording performance fx?) and has a bunch of weird limitations that I believe will be fixed with future firmware updates like no resampling, no sample looping, no sample reversing, no way to turn a sample from stereo to mono, no way to lower quality of the sample (would make sense on an instrument with such limited memory) and not a satisfying "song mode"... It is still very fun and inspiring and in my opinion sounds VERY good in its own way. TE-Davis said the KO II is using a dual core CPU and they are not even using the second core just yet so I expect a bright future for this one :)

    ive been thinking of adding a EQ pedal for so long, for multiple uses, like using it before going into a sampler to get a clear definition of what im sampling and use as an end of chain mastering pedal.. but ive never heard a demo of one used for that application. untill today that is.. great demo!

    I agree it's good for drums. I also get some dope melodic stuff out of it. One thing I can say about it, ironically it made me dive deeper into my SP404MK2. I'm starting to feel like maybe it was "The One" all along lol.

    I’ve watched so many videos about these, and I always think they’re so cool, but the next thought is always “the SP-404 is way more capable and only a little bit more expensive” if, admittedly, not nearly as charming.

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I know ... from a technical stand point there's just no comparison.

      @@LiamKillen I mean, I think oddly the actual purpose of music being to *have fun* gets a bit obscured sometimes, and if the EP-133 just being a nicer thing makes the experience more enjoyable, well, it's done its job. As I say, the SP-404 has a lot more bells and whistles but it is a rather unromantic box.
      I never shame anyone for buying music equipment just because they think it's cool, because yeah, ultimately we do just do this for the aesthetic pleasure of the exercise, so of course it's going to be part of it.

    Hey you seem like the most honest knowledgable RUclipsr for the question. Im getting my first piece of electric gear and im stuck between Op z, sp 404mk2, and the KO II. Im not Trying to go full dawless just yet, because i have a friend that does all the mixing and daw related stuff, i just want a machine for making foundation for beats, but also can do performance or just jam style practice. I feel like the KO 2 is a meet in the middle situation between the two units. And imo the sp seems way more geared towards my hardcore projects with the dj mode, but i know if im trying to make more astral stuff i cant beat the opz at this price range.

    I don’t understand the last chapter about sampling the grooves ? Why don’t just sampling each groupe (A,B,C,D) separately to ableton and then arranging them there ? I’m really a beginner and just finished one of my first arrangements on the ko2 (not just drums, i made a complete 4 bar long loop with base drum chord and everything) and was thinking about how sampling it to a daw to make a complete song out of it with an intro outro mixing and everything so I was thinking of doing by groupe A,B,C and D am I planning it right tho ?

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  2 месяца назад

      Yeah there's many different ways of doing it for sure - I just felt like for this particular workflow with the EP-133 stand alone, this approach was the most fluid.

    awesome video! im wondering if you could make a video of uses for the SP-404mkII in the same way, except with a TR-6S.. im not finding easy or uses that are worth it to incorporate my 404 into my set besides just for the FX.. i just need some bright ideas so im not squandering my 404. i got it to literally just play sourced audio samples from movies and such when i press a button, not even sequenced... if you had a video that showed some methods of using the 404 with the TR-6S, id DEFINITELY give it a thumb up... plus, i think 404 content is always gonna get clicks.. thanks, brother!

    Toy? I hear many people call all the small portable T.E. devices "Toys" as well. Some more expensive than others. Also, if you don't mean "Toy" in a bad way, then you don't refer to it as a "Toy" ... that's how that works. I bought 12 of these EP133 KO2 just to flip them. I ended up keeping one.
