All of your work is beautiful, and the variety is quite interesting! You are not the only one, although I sometimes (more than I like to admit actually) only get as far as buying the new media, and have become a bit of an art supply collector. 🤷🏼♀️🙂
You’re not the only one! I have so many ongoing sketchbooks/junk journals/art journals/altered books/collage art books/watercolor sketchbook! Just thinking about them all makes me smile. I love them all and I keep going back to them. Love your videos. Currently obsessed with watercolors and I also have a very sketchy style - although I don’t share on social media. I’m quite inspired by your art style and your scenery! Wow! I love your snapshots around town. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Even if they’re not done, your projects are lovely!! I seem to go between different types of hobbies completely and have unfinished projects, rather than different types of artwork. I used to do acrylic and I’d have more “in progress” pieces back then. I have tons of unfinished cross stitch, a few crochet projects, some acrylic… but not many watercolour/gouache projects that are unfinished. If I hate a project that is on paper, I’ll use the backside for testing colour mixes and then toss it when I’m done. I know people recommend holding onto the pieces you have so you can see improvement, but I can see that in my sketchbooks, I don’t need constant reminders of single pieces if I don’t care for them 😂.
Thank you! Love hearing your thoughts. Yep - I didn't go into how many part made quilts etc. I have on the go!! I'm fairly new to sketchbooks - I used to do most stuff on loose paper. I've started a new sketchbook now though, that I'm trying to tell myself not to stress about using - that it's fine to have plenty of bad art in it!
I think it’s great to have a variety of styles and experiment with different mediums, it keeps you learning and trying new things. I love watercolour the most but also gouache, paper art and ink. The hydrangea painting looks lovely, the colours are so nice and the granulating stones look nearly finished. I am also intrigued by oils but also without all the solvents, it’s the only medium I haven’t tried yet, the house painting looks nice, I love the mountain background, you take great photographs
Thanks ever so much! I guess it's good to have different mediums to rotate around too, so you don't get bored or stuck. I love paper art too! I like collage and also cardmaking too.
Please do not get rid of anything. The ones you aren't in love with I would happily frame! I love the pots and vases you made from your gelli prints and gold leaf. 😍 I'll be your bin. 😂💕🐼xx
For the butterfly I think I would to the other half in a completly different style. Because after a long time a project was laying in a corner it is really difficult to come back to the right mood and find the exact same colors again. I think I would do an ink drawing...maybe combined with a glow in the dark ink...than one half is shining colorful by daylight and the other one magically in darkness.
Often, I use unwanted pieces as backgrounds for new work, by covering part or all with gesso or new media. The paper or canvas beneath can still do its job, and I like the challenge.
I think so far I've only threw art that I completely ruined the paper or just threw random sketches. I like to use failed watercolor piece as a quick swatch sheet and then when the paper is completely filled with paint I would throw it. When I feel like I'm bored with a painting or drawing I usually would introduce different mediums to the painting like gouache or metallic paint, not necessarily to salvage the painting but for me to just have fun. I love your work btw so beautiful 😍
Hi! Just found your channel yesterday. Had to laugh watching this….your strong feelings towards certain pieces is very relatable. I personally have thrown some pieces away, just because if something really doesn’t make us happy, why keep it around! But I really liked some of your acrylic pieces that you didn’t seem to! And you should finish the hydrangeas, gorgeous!!!
I'm definitely building up to it! I keep seeing gorgeous textured paintings done in oils, and am wondering if I can create something along those lines...
I barely have any unfinnished art, Instagram motivates me to finnish my progects or I have nothing to post. If I do have something unfinnished I have no plans on finnishing it. 😉
Like the fact you’ve old half finished pieces. I’ve quilling pictures I’ve put down & not returned to, & paintings( watercolour ) from 30 + years ago that are not finished, in fact I recently tried to finish a poppy pic I started years ago, with no success but yesterday discovered how I could redeem it! So will soon try. Have never tried oils but, have a box, unused! Don’t know what paper to do oil on, canvas perhaps but, yours was on paper?! Also like a lot the pots blue print type. And, am thinking about using my Polychromos. Also like your Lino cut, made one at school & it was an octopus &was printed in school mag! Yippee! Also did a course on carving wood made a lovely donkey, was so proud of it but, didn’t continue, life interrupted, also clay works that I finally am liking, this took years! But, had a fine ceramics teacher! Will stop essay now. Like the beach scene finish it didn’t like the “fired” painting too harsh. Like the stones/ pebbles too. Thanks
@@helencryer Loved ceramics but, the teacher was a star! My family sometimes came along my husband made a near perfect rhinoceros which was annoying ha!ha! But, pots were my thing. Do try it if you get the chance.
@@helencryer My husband only did the rhino., it was so good I didn’t let him accompany us for longer but, my daughter did. Good luck, hope you find a good ceramics crafter.

Thank you! Yes, that definitely applies to me too. I often say that buying art materials and using them are two different hobbies...
I'm a collector too! 🤣 We are not alone! 💕 🐼xx
Me too 😊
@@helencryer I’m much more talented in one than the other 🤪🤭
😂 Relatable!!!

I love hearing others truly enjoying all their art stuff!! Thanks so much!

First thought, when I've seen your ripped piece: turn it into a background for a mixed media card. It's beautiful!
I actually thought I might make cards with them - I think that's why I hung on to them! The bits were definitely nicer than the whole!

Hmmm. Interesting thought. I do want to kind of see it complete, but I see what you mean about being able to match it in the same way...

I'll definitely have to do that more. Gessoing is a great idea too - thanks!

Interesting! Yes, I should definitely try sticking something totally different over the top and look for happy accidents maybe. Thanks!

Hello! Haha, thanks!! Yes, I will try and finish the hydrangeas at least!
Yes I’m the same! I have a few half finished pieces but never seem to get round to finishing them.
But what to do with them?!?!
This is a fun video….your art is beautiful! Can’t wait to see a video of water soluble oils! I’m curious about those….
I'm definitely building up to it! I keep seeing gorgeous textured paintings done in oils, and am wondering if I can create something along those lines...
One of my goals for this year is to finish the handful of projects that are unfinished, including a hydrangea… 😅
🤣 We should hold each other accountable on that one!!
I barely have any unfinnished art, Instagram motivates me to finnish my progects or I have nothing to post. If I do have something unfinnished I have no plans on finnishing it. 😉
Oooo - maybe that means I'll finish more stuff too, now that I'm YouTubing!!
