Al, you shouldn’t drop those heavy boulders in the tractor bucket, you’re putting extreme instantaneous shock loads on the entire loader and hydraulic systems.

Fantastic recommendation 👍🏻 we built ours this way (in northern Minnesota) and I have never had snow accumulation in the woodshed opening. It makes all the difference .😊
Good morning I also have outside wood boiler and one thing I do is when I cut wood I stack it on pallets and then use my tractor to bring the wood to the wood shed that way I only handle it when I cut it and when I burn it😅.
Not good for the TYM to drop heavy rocks or heavy loads in the bucket while it is in the air. I believe a hydraulic hose can burst from the sudden back pressure. Easy enough to leave the bucket on the ground when filling it!
Balm of Gilead salve is great for stings and insect bites. Makes pain/itching and swelling go away almost immediately. I make it and we keep it in the house, the barn, the camper, the car and our truck.
You aren't leaving enough room for heating pipes from the heat master furnace going to your proposed new house. You can't get the excavator behind the unit and the stone wall.

I try to get out the last bits with a small rubber spatula on a wooden handle. I will definitely try this next time... thank you!
Just can't catch a break in the weather, it's the same over here in Scotland. Have you ever looked at getting something like an 8 or 10 foot tipping trailer for behind the TYM? Save tracking the Mini back and forth and cut down on amount of trips too and fro using the fore-end loader
The rock wall should be in line with the house wall. That would give you room for a splitter & room to store your mower etc. Also if you built your shed over the wood burner you would be free of the snow when loading it.
Your operation of the back hoe is pretty impressive. You have done this a time or two! LOL. I was thinking about one but not sure I would have the use for one. Not that you asked, but some food for thought for you...I would suggest taking that hill back to the same place as the hill behind the building beside the boiler. It will give you more room for unloading, storage, make your job of building the rock retaining wall easier and keep water further away from the shed. I like the idea of using the natural rock. As for your shed, I would suggest bigger for more wood storage as that way you have it dry and sitting there. You could also put sides on the thing to keep snow out. I didn't realize you had a spring well - cool. Will have to look for that video. Good video!
Al using your available boulder materials is definitely a hugh cost saving way of utilizing all natural products and they won’t deteriorate due to the elements. When building the cover realize the best direction to face the wood for added drying advantages. 👍👍🙏😎

Totally get what you guys went through with all that rain!! My town and surrounding towns here in south western CT is destroyed with all that rain we got on Sunday! Over 14+ + inches!! A damn broke in the middle of the night on Sunday and completely washed away my friends barns of 100+ flock of chickens! Just gone....after hours of searching she found 1 hen's body. Her business gone, her inground pool gone, pool house gone, her solar panels all gone, farm equipment gone, trees uprooted and washed away, her 4 + acre of property now looks like a bulldozer completely leveled her property. Please pray for Cathy's House of Chickens and my other friends at Guardian Farms in Southbury, CT THANK YOU!!!
just south of you (Redding Ct) we only got 10 inches (in 8 hours?) but we are downstream and got the river flooding in places that haven't seen it since the great flood of 1955. Bridges and roads washed out and propane tanks floating down the street with the water. My basement will be drying out for a month!
Will do! I lived inBeacon Falls from 1960 to 1972(but spent 14 years total in the area) and know the terrain well. I called my best friend who lives in Cheshire, and she filled me in. Will be praying. Thats a hard loss to take!
@@rupe53 - My Dad told us of the 1955 flood - I was a newborn and he went to his parents house on the Silvermine River in Fairfield County - the house didn't flood, but the basement did. The fire department was coming around, pumping out people's basements - when they came to my grandparent's place, they didn't have to pump it out as the little existing pedestal sump pump (not waterproof) pumped the entire basement dry!
@@samvalentine3206 40 years ago our FD still did basement pumping but sadly too many abused the service (repeat customers) and manpower got thin for other priorities. BTW, you'd be amazed at how much water a small sump pump can move over the course of a day or so. The key is to stop it from coming in!
Might be too late but when this happens use the teeth of the excavator to dig a shallow drainage ditch from the work out to the down hill side. It will dry out a lot faster if you just have six inch wide channel for a drain and it will help your site later when you gravel it.
to be clear: even with gravel, you do not want the dirt under it being a pond. A squishy base under gravel is no good. Get the dirt to drain first then cover with gravel.
Move the shed closer to the house so you can build a garage for Gina's car. If you move it within three feet of the house. Then Gina can park her car out of the rain and when she comes out of the house she's covered for the most part and just a short run to the garage
Great idea on building a wood shed and a place for your great smoker. Gina your meatballs and sauce look good. I can see why its Al's favorite meal. Tell Miss Olivia hi for me.❤😊
Good morning 😁 love watching you both, amazing work! Your place is a work of love. I noticed when you opened up the smoker door the smoke came out and went up. I hope when there is a roof over it that it doesn’t come out straight into your face, just. Thought. Also get rid of that water by jigging a small trench to divert it! Thanks for sharing you journey, love lol your animals too.
Use a dab of Bentonite clay for the sting, can get it dry in a jar, add a few drops of water and spread onto the area of insect sting or bite. It will draw out the venom. Repeat as often as needed until there is relief. Bentonite clay can be purchased already to use.
So glad everything was clear! Bonnie, you are so cute coming out of anaesthesia ….remembering back to the time you had oral surgery I believe. God bless you….you laugh and cry almost at the same time. And Olivia! Phenomenal that a young lady at her age takes care of chores for the siblings and cooks…..and home made bread! You and Joel are doing a tremendous job raising your kids! You should be so proud of yourselves!
Al since you have so many rocks, why not build the retaining wall from Rocks? It would look really good and blend in with the land. I think it would look awesome!
I'd keep two months near the house, in case of a really bad blizzard. All that rain you got could be snow! Not really, I guess, because it would take a snow hurricane in the tropics to gather that much rain to freeze. But blizzards can be bad enough.
We live on a hillside and we just cut in a space for a greenhouse... we dont get much rock so we built a wall out of cinder block.. man it was a lot of work... you have natural rock to use... thats what i would use.. it will look nicer then something man made.
Al, I can’t help but think you should leave more space behind the wood boiler so you have space to work on it if you need to and the retaining wall is in your way. Better to have more work room, then trying to squeeze into a small area. You never know what might come up in the future.
Hi Al, I was curious, since you are now working around the wood boiler, are you eventually going to extend the heated water line to the workshop? As I recall, the floor was made with heat tubing for radiant heat in the winter.
Goood morning Al, Gina, and friends everywhere, from David in Omaha, NE. The rain needs to go away to where it is needed! Love the idea of the Firewood shed. It will be very nice. Gina's meatballs looked like they will be very tasty! I will have to make some now! 🤣 Have a great and blessed Tuesday, everyone!
Good morning David! I think so too, reminds me of the wood shed on the old homeplace! I was thinking maybe a french drain behind the shed, but Al could also fill in with gravel behind the rock wall. Have a great day too!
Always something Al i might look into some drainage pipe and stone to collect that water and run it off just to keep things dry have you looked into a hydric dump trailer or a small off road dump with the work you have would be a handy thing to have something that will move a few yards of stuff at a time like your videos always look forward to see what you are up to next

Sending prayers to your friends - that rain was something else. I have family in the area and they were OK, nothing like what happened to Cathy. 🙏
just south of you (Redding Ct) we only got 10 inches (in 8 hours?) but we are downstream and got the river flooding in places that haven't seen it since the great flood of 1955.
Good morning from Gatwick wishing everyone a great day 🎉❤
Good morning, Jim!
Good morning from Wexford Ireland
Goood morning Annette. Hope all is well in Ireland. Everything going good here.! 👍

Good morning David, all good here thanks. How are things there
Good morning Annette! 👍🏾🤩🐶
Good morning, Annette!
Good Morning Annette.
Good morning from Stockton Georgia good job on your project Gina needs to have her cooking own more often
Maybe she'll get back into it - she used to have a "cooking corner" almost every episode for a while there...
I love ALL Lumnah Acres videos!
Picking those rocks out with that excavator reminds me of little kids picking out the vegetables from their plates at meal time!!
It is my understanding that gasification boilers require dry wood (under 20%) or it plugs up with creosote. Has that been your experience?
Move the shed closer to the house so you can build a garage for Gina's car. If you move it within three feet of the house. Then Gina can park her car out of the rain and when she comes out of the house she's covered for the most part and just a short run to the garage
Great idea on building a wood shed and a place for your great smoker. Gina your meatballs and sauce look good. I can see why its Al's favorite meal. Tell Miss Olivia hi for me.❤😊
Hey Al and Gina. I think that is an excellent idea what you are doing. If you could have the rain hold up awhile. 😅. Good video. 👍❤️
Good afternoon from Fly Ohio. Pleasant 70 degree day here. Great weed eating weather! We used to heat entirely with wood!
It’s a great day and Gina making meatballs makes it even better
Use a dab of Bentonite clay for the sting, can get it dry in a jar, add a few drops of water and spread onto the area of insect sting or bite. It will draw out the venom. Repeat as often as needed until there is relief. Bentonite clay can be purchased already to use.
Great video
It's a good idea to clean that area way back away from your home and heater
Build the retaining wall with Rocks and outdoor Morter OR Concrete Cinder Blocks
Hi.... Thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Dig a temporary trench to drain the worksite, and then fill it in after you establish the final grade.
Sorry….this was meant for a previous vlog….
Yippee, another building project!
Good morning family enjoy your day.💙❤🦋🎉👏☺👍
Al since you have so many rocks, why not build the retaining wall from Rocks? It would look really good and blend in with the land. I think it would look awesome!
I'd keep two months near the house, in case of a really bad blizzard. All that rain you got could be snow! Not really, I guess, because it would take a snow hurricane in the tropics to gather that much rain to freeze. But blizzards can be bad enough.
Good morning Al Gina and Olivia hope y'all have a blessed day together. Just wanted to let y'all know your a blessing to us in south Alabama
We live on a hillside and we just cut in a space for a greenhouse... we dont get much rock so we built a wall out of cinder block.. man it was a lot of work... you have natural rock to use... thats what i would use.. it will look nicer then something man made.
great potatoe harvest Gina hugssss
Al, I can’t help but think you should leave more space behind the wood boiler so you have space to work on it if you need to and the retaining wall is in your way. Better to have more work room, then trying to squeeze into a small area. You never know what might come up in the future.
Hi Al,
I was curious, since you are now working around the wood boiler, are you eventually going to extend the heated water line to the workshop? As I recall, the floor was made with heat tubing for radiant heat in the winter.
Goood morning Al, Gina, and friends everywhere, from David in Omaha, NE. The rain needs to go away to where it is needed! Love the idea of the Firewood shed. It will be very nice. Gina's meatballs looked like they will be very tasty! I will have to make some now! 🤣 Have a great and blessed Tuesday, everyone!
Have a great day David! 👍🏾🤩🐶
@@TheKamakuraGardener Good Morning David.
Good morning, David - Thank you and wishing you the same!
Good morning David! I think so too, reminds me of the wood shed on the old homeplace! I was thinking maybe a french drain behind the shed, but Al could also fill in with gravel behind the rock wall. Have a great day too!
Goooooood Morning David. Yes plenty of areas need the rain.
I remember the shed you had at your other property, like a lien two. Make sure to to have good airflow. Like normal., you dig a hole it rains. 😂
