I can see how you thought she sounded winded. The melody of what she’s singing is complex and contains a lot of words, and it needs a lot of power, so she’s working her ass off trying to get all that done all the while sounding flawless. She’s a true pro.
Shes always said that Storytime is by far the hardest song to sing in the first 7 albums. The reason is theres no time to breathe in the chorus. She has to take fast breathes that are even hard for as a world class singer.
Recently saw this song from the Tampere concert I think. Floor is more in control of the lyrics here. The tempo may have been reduced a tad; not sure. Floor’s enunciation at Tampere is hugely improved over 2013 Wacken. Maybe it’s the result of two more years of practice with the song.
It's always funny when somebody like Asia, who can't sing, criticizes a true pro. Professional vocalists marvel at Floor's talent. Then a no-talent like Asia comes along. You can only laugh at her. She's singing it exactly thw ay it was intended to be sung.
The "phrasing" to this Song was very Quick..Stucatto. Most of the lyrics were supposed to be sung Fast & no held notes..for most of the song. I thought FLOOR was perfect on this performance.

Floor going full-blown opera....Shoemaker....Floor doing low growls....Yours is an empty hope. It is one hell of a rabbit hole, a long drop but oh so fun...She has also done some covers during Covid...Explore, have fun, and see ya on the flip side.
Next up: Everdream. By Floor's own admission it is the hardest song she has to sing. It's magic though like the rest of that show.
Now it is with her mature voice. her younger voice it was Storytime.
Correct. And She explained in an interview. Because the Creature belts it all... Without changing the tone; and it was written to be sung in a head voice (soprano-like) for Tarja. Incredible.

Floor is coming from the Netherlands the country with the tallest people on earth. Asia wears a shirt with Brooklyn on it, Brooklyn was called after the Dutch city Breukelen. Floor is born in Goirle also a Dutch city only 60 miles away from Breukelen.

Another great reaction guys👍 If she sounded 'winded' it's maybe because she had just sung her most difficult song - Ever Dream before this song. Storytime was song 6 out of 15. Your previous reaction - Ghost Love Score was song 13. I agree with other comments recommending Ever Dream and Romanticide as your next two, both from Wacken. "She sounded winded"... Nah, not really. Floor herself is a vocal coach, she knows how to take care of her vocal cords and how to pace herself.
BTW, Ghost Love Score was the 2nd to last song on the setlist, Storytime was performed during the first half of the concert.
Just because she is a vocal coach etc does not mean she isn’t bound to the same rules as everyone else. Everyone needs to hold it back here and there to preserve their stamina and they can’t always give it their 100 percent Obi to protect their voices.
That said, her performance was definitely not lacking here. Definitely not.

Nightwish is on the top of the metalbands that entertain the audience with their music, energy and digital and pyroeffects. But most important with their skills and love for what they do. Going to one of their concerts is an experience you will never forget. I know a lot of people who are not into metal but way into Nightwish. Crowdsurfing is a cool experience and their will always be butholes who take advantage of the situation to grab more the they should but in my experience the European metalcommunity is pretty decent and above all verry nice to eachother. I am from the Netherlands and I can honestly say that if you go to a rock or metalshow everyone is welcome and treated good....thanx for the great reaction. I really enjoyed it!

A & BJ....Another nice reaction, thank you. Subtitles work and looking at the lyrics before you react is another option. The Wacken ( Vocken ) concert is a safe place to react to, as is Wembley, Buenos Aires. and Tampere concerts. All live and all very good quality. That section was "breathier" than the last song by choice to help convey the emotion of the lyrics... then she switches to a stronger more dramatic vocal style for a strong finish
When you watch Nightwish with Floor you feel the music, she sang 15 songs in 2 hrs at this show . Floor is 6" 1'

People think metalheads are hard, unpleasant, aggressive people. Nothing could be further from the truth, you're average metalhead is basically a giant teddybear who just wanna share the fun with anyone and everyone in the vicinity.

The Wacken Open Air 2013 concert is just the best introduction to Nightwish! I really wish I'd been there! I think you should react to "I Want My Tears Back" next from the same concert. You'll get to hear Floor and Marco sing together which is amazing! Also, you'll get to meet Troy as he was not out on stage in the previous two songs you listened to. Plus it's just an incredibly fun, high energy, feel good song. The 2018 Buenos Aires performance is incredible too, but for different reasons. The vocals in the Wacken 2013 video are my favorite because I just think they sound so tight and on point. I can't wait for you to dive deeper into Nightwish! I love watching people discover them!

Wow - if you think she sounded a bit out of breath, you clearly are hearing it differently from everyone else. This is quite early on and she kills it. The power in her voice at the end is remarkable.

I do not understand why people get so butthurt. You can just see where they are coming from. Of course it is understandable she would have to have a better breathing management here than the previous ones they reacted to, due to the nature of the song. It was relative.

What's amazing is that Floor was not the singer that recorded any of these songs. In fact, she was not a member of the band on this tour. They fired their singer in Denver CO, called up Floor and she had 5 days before the Seattle WA show to memorize all the songs. The band offered her a permanent job after this tour ended.

If there is one thing you can't argue about Nightwish, it's the fact that they absolutely bring it ever damn show they do! Best band in the world in my opinion. I've been a fan of NIghtwish for over 20 years and the journey has never disappointed.

That's the difference on festivals/concerts between in Europe(+ other countries) and in the States people do catch you wether you stage diving or crowd surfing. People actually goes to enjoy the atmosphere, not to suffocate each others.

“Winded?” No, she was singing live what was a choral loop on the recording. But she sang it. In the key and octave it was recorded in. The singer who recorded this song for the album couldn’t do that. For context: Nightwish’s first singer was a trained soprano who sang their songs in a strong classical voice. They parted ways with the first singer. The second singer did two albums with them, including this song. She had a decent range but she could only belt and couldn’t sing what the first singer could sing. The Valkyrie goddess you see here can do both. She can sing classically AND throw an earth-shaking belt. The more you know. ❤

The song is from the Imaginaerum album which also has a movie so you know the entire album is one big story
the "switch it up" Floor Jansen does so effortlessly is like when you watch a cheetah moving slower than a snail then a quarter second later is blasting out of the treeline at 70mph. Nobody, I mean nobody, on this earth has that cross talent like Floor Jansen does. She is their current and 3rd vocalist & the best thing that ever happened to Nightwish. Tarja was amazing, but she was sort of boxed in, limited, with her style of singing. Jansen can do it all. Jansen can sing everything from AC/DC & Judas Priest metal (I believe Floor could easily hang with Rob Halford in vocal metal ability) to country to pop to opera & every combination of them.............and yes, she can switch it up and even within a sentence she can do that. She is the current #1 singer in the world today. No doubt about that. Floor Jansen is the best active vocalist on earth
When she did Ghost Love Score at this show it was the 13th song of a 15 song set!!!!

Hi from the UK. Nightwish...There are few words! Floor keeps cool by using the large fan in front of her and also to blow dry her hair; only kidding. The whole band are great instrumentalists and performers. Floor is something else..she is "Floorless" in her singing. No wonder people say that they have "Floorgasm after Floorgasm" listening to her sing and perform in the way that she does! Great reaction and honest analysis! Best wishes guys.

Most crowds respect the "touching" but it happens. Most fans will correct others getting out of line. It's a self-discipling thing to keep it all on the level.
As for "dropping" someone - it doesn't really happen in crowds that size, nor can people "get out of the way" to let someone fall. In crowds that big, you barely have enough room to expand your ribcage to inhale, let alone purposefully side-step someone wanting to crowd surf. The density of the crowd is how the surfing can happen; so many bodies crammed into a tight space, there's no where to come down until the hands all move the person along to the front where the security helps them down on the other side of the barricade and send them back to the back of the crowd (or the bathroom).
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
She could have gone higher at the end; but it's pointless. Only dogs would be able to hear her...

She was definitely winded In that song. If not winded it was just a faster song with longer, quicker phrases then other songs so there is less time for breathing deep breaths. So in this song you could actually hear her take breaths at times which is something you don't hear in many other songs.

I'm not 100% sure but, I think a few vocal coaches say it's a lot of complex phrases in this song, but she has good(not sure of the proper name for it) breath control. And she is doing it on purpose, she does it also in the song Romanticide
Most Nightwish fans consider Floor to be the best singer in the world hands down. She can sing anything and sing it all well. She also sings in several different languages.Many of these songs you hear her sing cannot be sung well by very many singers as they are technically difficult. For me Floor and Nightwish are the entire package. Nothing like them anywhere.

Nobody pick pockets crowd surfers. I overheard a couple of dudes when I was at Download Festival a few years ago. 1 Asked if the other had any holidays coming up. His reply was "nah, where else would I wanna go, rather than here surounded by 80,000 of my brothers and sisters". Rock is a brotherhood, and in general very respectful :)

Floor can sing what she wants at any time even at the end of a concert, i think there is no one as versatile and powerfull as Floor is. Floor is 6ft 2 (183 cm) but she is Dutch and we have a small country whith the avarage tallest people in the world
