      Well, she WAS on the board of directors of the company at the time and had a LOT of stock in the company left to her by her husband. The more she could plug the "sugar water" the higher the profits the more her stock went up! But she NEVER drank it as a general rule, instead preferring to swig her 100 proof vodka from a flask she carried in her purse.

      @@retroguy9494
      Yes, Joan always had her flask of “false courage” with her; I think it happened as she aged and felt more and more insecure...and, now, I finally understand how she must have felt.
      I am glad that Joan finally seems to be getting her “arc of redemption” - and I now believe that Christina made up much of her story and exaggerated a lot of it.

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 3 года назад +2

      @@EYE_GOTCHA Nah she was swilling the hooch even when she was younger. She had a LOT of demons she was trying to run away from that happened in her childhood including a sexually abusive step father.
      And I'm not convinced Christina made up much of her story. Some people are VERY GOOD at hiding abuse. My own mother was an excellent example of that. As for her twins claim that it didn't happen, I think maybe she knew she did wrong by the time she adopted them. That's like Bing Crosby. By all accounts, he abused the children from his first marriage but according to friends of his, he felt he got a "do over" with his second wife and the children he had with her, all of whom adored him.

      I think the issue of nudity in movies at that time was highly exaggerated. I remember going to movies quite a bit at that time and I can only remember one film where there was any nudity. That was in a Frank Sinatra film where Lee Remick was nude for about five seconds. Lee Remick took off her clothes but you can bet that Frank Sinatra kept his on. If there were other films with nudity at that time I never saw them as there were plenty of films to go to that did not have nudity. And I don't remember any guys taking it all off on screen. It was the gals who stripped, not the men, not even James Bond.

    If it's true, and it's really highly likely, about the abusive behaviour on her daughter..Can you imagine those eyes in hanger, range, and/or when drunk, While beating her daughter Christine? • @Garsons-oq4lh
      @Garsons-oq4lh 3 года назад +3

      Many of the things her adopted daughter has said are not accurate. She falsely implied Joan had something to do with the death of her husband Alfred Steele, saying somehow he fell down some stairs but that isn't true. (Now it would be more accurate to say that Bette Davis was to blame for the death of her husband Arthur Farnsworth. He apparently had fallen down some stairs prior to his death.)
      She says Joan tried to strangle her but in an unpublished interview with the woman (Billie Greene) who was also there says Joan did no such thing. And plus the daughter had to submit to a court ordered under oath deposition when she contested Joan’s will and when asked about the strangulation incident she says she 'doesn't know what you are referring to.'
      This daughter wrote that Joan's last moments were 'Damn't, don't you dare ask God to help me.' Again not true according to the woman (Darinka Papich) who was actually there with Joan near the end.
      There is much more than that daughter will ever admit to because frankly it doesn't make her look good. Above all it would go against the established narrative that Joan was somehow this gigantic monster which isn't accurate.

    No movie stars either. It was not a fine move from Christina to bring her mother's weaknesses to the public. And cowardly and calculating at the same time because she didn't do it until after Joan's death. But she had financial success with it because her acting was not enough.
