    That setup from jeep to trailer is what our dream was. Experience with a 2014 JKU and simply not having the funds took us in a different setup. We are waiting on our square drop build out of CO. The timid version. Thank you for the tour.

    You did fine talking to the camera. Your wife did good at taking the video. Nice camper. I've thought of doing videos for a long time and thought that I would suck at it, but just might give it a try anyways. I enjoy camping and hiking and always like to see what others are posting, so maybe I will contribute to the cause. Let me know if you change your mind and you might produce more videos. I'll subscribe, hey, you already have almost 18k views on this video.

      Thanks Bill, I appreciate the feedback! I've decided to do some content for our 'bucket list' trip in the spring. I think most of it will focus on trip preparation since there is already a ton of content around camping in the South West. Totally just for fun but hopefully helpful for someone.

    Nice jeep JL, I like that camper I’m considering one of those I need something more stripped down version just for my dog and myself mainly getting to the back country set up camp and then takeoff from there and go backpacking for a few days and then come back to sleep and shower basically I just need an exterior shower hot water and a secure place to sleep, and definitely need durability for going into the back country with my jeep I worry about water crossing and ground clearance, are these things watertight? I like you set up thanks for the video buddy👍👍

    • @mainebumpkin1795
      @mainebumpkin1795  Год назад +1

      Thank you! For sure it’s not water tight but I’ve done 12-14” water crossings and driven through horrible rain / wind at 80 mph with no major issues. The only issue I’ve had with water incursion is when the window weep holes get overwhelmed during extremely heavy rain at highway speed.

  • @DTatham1

    Nice. I haven't seen where the stove and sink pull out to the side on a rear galley setup. Does is make for better cleanup, like splatter and water splash? Is the frig at the front an issue? Nice walk around.

    • @mainebumpkin1795
      @mainebumpkin1795  Год назад +1

      Thank you! The nice thing about the slide out sink / stove is that you still have the whole prep area free while someone is cooking or doing the dishes. The fridge works well in front, especially now that we have a vent fan installed on the box.

    Nice overview. Thanks for taking the time to share. Do you feel like that box on the front with storage adds too much to your tongue weight? Is the box steel or aluminum?
    Also, I'm curious why they didn't have that front box as wide as the trailer.

    • @mainebumpkin1795
      @mainebumpkin1795  3 года назад

      Thanks Robert. The front box is aluminum so it pretty light but once the new 79 quart refrigerator is installed and loaded I plan to check the tongue weight, when I do that I’ll post an update. Good question about the width, I’ll see if I can find out.

      @@mainebumpkin1795 If you are still looking at fridges I would highly recommend the Snomaster EXPEDITION SERIES EX85D. It took a bit of time to get and was way over my budget. But I've had it almost a year now and this thing rocks. Dual zone, enough room to keep some wine bottles and lots of food. Convert one chamber to a freezer and you can extend your trip out and have some ice cream as a treat. All good fun

    Hey mate I also have a jlu was wondering how much of a dip in mpg you saw? Vs how much without it

    • @mainebumpkin1795
      @mainebumpkin1795  Год назад

      Tough question to answer accurately because I’ve never done an analysis. First, I never adjusted the computer after moving to 35” tires so my MPG isn’t accurate. Second is the impact speed has. Towing to Moab from SW Utah my average dropped from 18 to 11 MPG BUT I’m not gentle on the skinny pedal. There were major elevation changes and my average speed was 70mph. Some hills had me pushing 5,000rpm in 3rd gear for several minutes. Generally flat ground at slower speeds will have a much lower impact on mpg but I don’t have data to back that up.

  • @Chubbydippin

    Nice trailer. Looks tough as nails. They look really cool yes, but what is the burly tread on the trailer tires for? I get potentially needing that tread on the tow vehicle since it pulls both itself and the trailer. Makes sense to have larger tires and higher ground clearance on the trailer. I'm just curious what that tread on the trailer tires is for. I don't do any off roading or over landing so maybe it's just my ignorance on the topic of trailer tires. Love the trailer and thanks for sharing.

    • @mainebumpkin1795
      @mainebumpkin1795  2 года назад +1

      That’s actually a great question. I’m no tire expert but I know that on a slippery, muddy slope, I want my trailer brakes to bite and having a good AT or MT tread design will help ensure that. The sidewall design of load range E tires like this also makes them less susceptible to damage from sharp rocks, roots, etc.
