- Enjoy my reaction to Black Hawk Down!! Super sad this film honestly. It doesn't try to hide the horror of war at all and does a brilliant job at honouring the fallen soldiers that were victims in this true story.

This is one of my favorite movies. As a Veteran it makes me cry a lot. I don’t know why but I always come back to it to have a good cry.
I can imagine why 😢
veteran also do it for the same reasons or tears of the sun
Thank you both for your service 🇺🇸
20:25 that pilot, did the same thing in 1993. The army send him to the film production and they asked him, if he would play himself. He did it.
Wow, that shows they really cared about making the film as organic as possible. Love that.
All the men in my family along with a few female cousins served/serve in the military. My nephew is currently serving in the Army Special Forces, both my brother & nephew sat this is 1 of the most realistic war movies. Thank you for your reactions.
Wow, very noble family. Glad you enjoyed it.
Fun fact about the first crash site when the little bird flew in… the guy who rescued delta sniper Dan Busch (the guy who was beating down the block at crash site one) was played by the actual pilot who flew that day, I think Keith jones is his name. He re-enacted his real life rescue with his copilot holding back the crowd with his SMG from the copilot seat. He deserves to have his silver star medal upgraded to a Medal of Honor. Dan Busch deserves one, too. They had to shoot him several times to get him to bleed out
I was in the army when this happened. Watching fellow soldiers being dragged through the streets dead and naked on the evening news was a horrible gut punch feeling. It was demoralizing and infuriating.
The violence of the movie is shockingly toned down from what really happened. The book is well worth a read and includes some Somali perspective.
I imagine it would hey. I’ll look into the book thanks.
Yeah I agree the situation/mission was absolutely insane. Enjoyed your reactions to the film. My parents know a retired veteran who was there on that mission that day. He was one of the many black Hawk pilots dropping off the soldiers. My parents told me that he disobeyed orders and stole a chopper just to get the soldiers back home. While he was waiting in that area for the soldiers. He was being shot at by bullets and air missiles but would not leave until he got every soldier on board. He did and got them back safely. That veteran pilot is badass, so brave, and is a highly decorated war hero.🪖🎖️💥🩸
Wow what a story! All those men were so brave.
@@thecocoacouch yes they were🙏🏼🪖🎖️
My dad was an Army infantryman stationed in Somalia in 1993, he lived through this. The horrors of this movie are very accurate. I know it was really hard for my dad, they were sent there for a humanitarian mission and it tuned into combat.. the men there just wanted to help. my dad is a hero in my eyes and he lost so many friends here.
This is based on the Battle of Mogadishu. It’s a true event & this movie sanitized the actual violence faced by these soldiers. It was a type of urban warfare we weren’t quite ready for back then. My husband was very lucky in terms of PTSD but this experience still effects him.
General Sherman during the American Civil war is quoted as saying "War is Hell " ..... and no truer words have been spoken in my opinion .
My husband was attached to the 160th for this mission. So his unit commander back here had to call me directly to let me know that he was safe & about the stuff being shown on the news. I would have to go the unit hanger on post to send & receive mail from him. He was a crew chief.
My husband was in the Battle of Mogadishu. He was fortunate enough to come home to me & our 1 year old son. He was recommended for a Bronze Star for his duty there, it was down graded (of course 🙄) We’ve never watched this movie, he couldn’t stomach it. We’ve only seen promotion clips & the “Hollywood” version is a watered down & edited from reality but I’m sure it had to be. He will not watch it, he LIVED it & that’s enough for him. We were recently at a military memorial museum in North Carolina & there was an exhibit featuring this campaign. Even after all these years, it got to my husband, there were pictures of the soldiers he had served with, he had to walk away. That 1 year old son he came home to is currently serving in the U. S. Army.
This is based on the book about this incident. The book is even more chaotic than the movie, if that's possible.
23:52 Jeff Strucker, the motivator in that scene, became later an priest and finished his career as a major
This movie, adapted from a book of the same name, is based on the Battle of Mogadishu (3-4 OCT 1993).
Thanks for that! ☺️
One of the scariest lines from this film was when that pilot asked “Where's the rescue squad?” and the volunteers Sgt. Gary Gordon and Sgt. 1st Class Randy Shughart replied “We're it.” You can only imagine what the pilot must be feeling in that moment.
I have friends who served with Steele in Iraq. He made full-colonel, but got into trouble in 2006 when several of his Soldiers murdered Iraqi civilians and claimed they were acting in accordance to his guidance. He had his battalions keep score on how many people they killed. It was never demonstrated that he played a role in the killings, but the Army saw enough to reprimand him which meant he retired as a colonel and was never promoted to general.
Woke up in the middle of the night sick and so glad I can watch another video from the Cocoa Couch! Already feeling better :)
Haha you’re welcome. Happy to help.
Read the book. With everything that has happened since it's easy to forget what happened here, but it still matters.
When you think about the deff guy. The reason he was screaming replies is because he was used to constant gun fire and explosions, and he was worried he would not be heard. You literally most of the time in a firefight scream to your neighbors because of how loud it is when the bullets are flying.
Somalia is such a paradise these days, well worth the lives and money spent on this intervention.
The ramifications of the Battle of Mogadishu would even be felt almost 2000 miles away the next year, as the scandal it caused in the American press was instrumental in Clinton's decision to try and prevent any intervention during the Rwandan genocide, instead sending aid to the refugee camps established by the perpetrators after their victims drove them out of the country.
On feeling less impacted by large amounts of dead...
"The death of one is a tragedy. The death of a million is a statistic." -Joseph Stalin
36:34 I'm glad you noticed that. Some parts were friendly or at least hated us less than the militias.
“That guy played the Hulk didn’t he” lol.
David Banner not Bruce Banner, but I get it.😊
It's Bruce Banner... not David...
Oh, wow, was Josh Hartnett the only Mur'can in the cast?
Next up: "Hacksaw Ridge" (2016)?
Haha maybe…I’ll write it down ☺️
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
A young Tom Hardy was also in that group, before he became famous, few realize it but Tom is there if they pay attention.
The soldiers had to write their blood type on their t-shirts & boots. Think about that. My husband had to continue to take malaria pills for a while after he returned from theatre.
This is another moie that I have seen seeral times and I love it, yes it was sad 19 soldiers died that day but no death is exceptable, they were all very brave, risking there lies knowing that they may never return home.
this is way they started to up armor Humvees
Solid reactions my boy ! Gained a new subscriber . Take care.
Cheers man!!
The militia dragged American bodies through the streets as a show of “victory” & strength. It was heart wrenching.
Great film also It won two oscars
Have you seen the extended version, it adds about 8 minutes of extra shots and additional scenes. I recommend Lone Survivor, it's a similar story as well and has very intense realistic moments.
18 men were killed and dozens wounded. If someone asks you why the U.S. doesn't intervene in situations where genocide is occurring, tell them "Somalia".
In war everything is very simple.
In war even the simplest thing is very hard.
If you are a reader, then read the book. It's excellent and more detailed.
There are many International military units "No One Left Behind". Brits, ANZACS, but the US loses... a few when it counts. Americans aren't necessarily better or more Honorable. But a committed American will have your back.Ok, Gurkhas may win
What is sickening is that these countries are too poor to feed its people but they have all of this weaponry to kill each other. It’s insane & heartbreaking.
Half of the cast is british. And then there are an australien, a canadian and a dane
Some big names in this are british but most are american.
@@SamJackson-xu1py McGregor, Bremner, Bloom, Dancy, Gruffudd, Isaacs, Hardy, Marsden, Harris, Adoti, Etienne, (the last three portraed Somalis)
All of them are british
36:37 Civilians were mocking them.
i think those were the civies from the friendly tribe
Why didn't you drink out of the big cup?
Occasionally I forget 😆 and sometimes I do drink from it but it doesn’t make it into the edit since I trim down the whole reaction to 30-40mins
SARDAR UDHAM ( 2021) is the best bollywood movie ever made.

Mark my words you will not forget this movie.

**It will change your top 10 movie list of all times.**
IT IS A MODERN CLASSIC.
**You'll experience the new new of Indian Cinema.**
**An exceptional Gem.**
THANK YOU Brother.
Remember the 90s? So peaceful I'm told. Wait a minute... can we get a decade of peace ever? Sick of the knife fights n bullets in yer ass but America...ya know...
Great movie, saw it twice in the cinema.. Done that twice I think (Dredd too). But I was about to do my service just then so was kinda into it.. But it IS a good movie. If you want to know more, read the book, REAL good. In the movie, some real characters are combined so there are not too many or something..
There were actually more helicopters lost but they were lost in friendly territory. the one dropping the medics crash landed as did one dropping supplies during the night iirc.
Yeah we would have gotten a 3.5hr movie if they added more characters and events 😂 I’d love to read the book tho!
@@thecocoacouch It is good.. :)
This movie was more intense than Saving Private Ryan. The combat in BHD is much more sustained.
Oh yeah? I’m keen to see Saving Private Ryan but I didn’t realise this was more intense hey.
@@thecocoacouch In Private Ryan the battles are intense but much short lived.
@@thecocoacouchThe battles in Saving Private Ryan are more gruesome to watch but the battles in Black Hawk Down are frustrating to witness because you realize 160 soldiers are stuck inside a hornet’s nest for a whole 24 hours
