    Very cool! I picked one up but have not had the chance to play with it yet.

      I think it’s pretty handy. Don’t do a lot of reviews, or hey look what I got videos, but it’s a cool tool!

      This is the main reason I bought it. Still in the packaging at the moment, though.

    Ok JR, I went out last week and picked up the Shaper Trace, man what an amazing item to add to my tool chest! Now customization of projects I’ve been commissioned to build just got way easier!🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for the introduction!

    I love that they created and sell something like this that Isn't proprietary to only their product. Shows a lot of love for their customers

    I picked one of these up for exactly what your using it for. I figured out that you can turn on the phone flashlight and scan the tool directly. Skip the tree killing and tracing all together! It does create a lot of artifact vector line but once in Aspire I just grab the outside tool shape and discard the rest. It is still very time consuming but feels great to be organized!

      That's a great tip, I'll have to check that out! I hope they make one just a bit bigger, maybe 50% or so. Thanks for checking it out, and if you'd like I invite you to subscribe while you're here!

      @@TradeSkillersAnonymous I'm already subscribed and find your videos very helpful. I have been retired for a year and a half now and now on my second Onefinity machine. I think I work more now than when I was employed!
      As for the Shaper, not sure they make a bigger size but I am in the process of scanning tool right now and figured out to lay the Shaper frame over top of longer tools i.e. a framing hammer and take pictures of each segment, then stitch it together in Aspire. The critical piece is to use the "Curve Fit" function set to "Bezier" to reduce the points then double check the tool length width and adjust using the "Set selected vector size" function to match the tool. Although the foam is forgiving I am striving for a secure fit.
      This is a lot of work but it is satisfying to the OCD side of my personality. And its nice to use the space in the toolbox effectively. I used plywood with nylon pull tabs to add a second layer of tools in deep drawers (Using the 70 mm foam to recess tools on the bottom stack completely).
      Thanks again for the tip! This is the easiest way to get the tool vectors I've seen yet.

    Pretty cool, it's on my list. I actually have a gantry CNC and the Shaper Origin Gen2 which I love. I didn't see a link in the vid, but where do you source your foam from?

    Can you take each shape and combine them into one drawing to make an insert in a drawer for many tools, bits etc

      The frame accommodates an 81/2x11 piece of paper. You can put multiple small parts on each of they fit. I also split a larger part into two files (hammers were too big for the frame so split them into two scans and rejoined in my car software). Thanks for watching, and feel free to subscribe while you’re here if you like.

    I'm not getting it. Doesn't my flat bed scanner do the same thing?

    • @TradeSkillersAnonymous
      @TradeSkillersAnonymous  24 дня назад +1

      It might, does it save it for you as an svg, or do you need to convert the scan?

    • @Brangustx
      @Brangustx 23 дня назад

      @@TradeSkillersAnonymous As a default most scanners save as bitmaps or Jpg. Maybe I'm making a misinformed assumption, but I think it's the software that saves it the way I want. For me that will most likely be Coreldraw. I'll check it out though. Thanks for the video, it has inspired me nonetheless.
