  • Using Shaper Trace and Shaper Plate to do a perfect inlay in 20 minutes. Full process from paper sketch to final inlay. And it came out spot on!!!
This is my second Shaper Trace video, but here's a link to the first one:

Very cool - thanks for sharing this and your first video about Trace. I'm a new Origin owner and am seriously considering getting Trace too.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I've had an Origin for many years and love it. Trace is pretty cool and I'm getting a better handle on the app now.

There’s trace bitmap in vcarve so not sure this is needed

True, but not every SO user uses VCarve. I use VCarve for my Longmill benchtop CNC, but for an Origin project, Trace offers a much more streamlined workflow. With VCarve, I would have to take the drawing to my office, scan it, save it as a bitmap, import it into VCarve, trace bitmap, save it as an SVG and finally load it onto Origin. Using Trace, this is a seamless, all-in-1 process. Even if I decided to cut the inlay on the Longmill, I think it would be faster to import the SVG from Trace into VCarve to generate my toolpath. All depends on the situation and tools (and software) available. Appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching!

@@FineLineJoinery for the price it makes sense to have , just to see what’s faster.
