    Joe calzaghe one of the most underrated people out of the uk. His cardio and sweet science always has me amazed. The way he knew where to be a the perfect time was impeccable

    • @carloswoe5002
      @carloswoe5002 Год назад +15

      He's underrated for a reason, but it's not he's fault completely. He was born in an era where everyone was retired, retiring or at end of their career where they were a shell of themselves example Roy Jones Hopkins ect.... But he was still a hall of fame fighter. Kind of like the Klitschko brothers they born an a weak era not they're fault, but still hall of fame fighter.

    • @govarnie
      @govarnie Год назад +5

      @@carloswoe5002 I'd say even that is debatable considering what especially Hopkins went on to do after that loss. I think the reality is if you are born outside of the US people are always going to underrate you. This is less the case now but still relevant to an extent.

      @@carloswoe5002yea I compare his career to that of a Rocky Marciano, in between greats of their perspective eras (Louis-Liston,Patterson, who I still feel Marciano could’ve fought) and Calzaghe was between (Jones/Hopkins-Ward/Kovalev) they both have their greatest victories against war stricken greats (Louis/Jones) and still fighting past their prime like they’re in their prime (Hopkins/Moore) and they both retired before they can face the up and coming young killers. Both have crazy endurance and stamina & can throw non-stop

    • @MrSosa35
      @MrSosa35 Год назад +7

      Truth of the matter is there was a ten year period in Joe's career Where he decided to stay in Europe and avoid the active US fighters like Winky Wright, Glenn Johnson, Antonio Tarver to name a few.
      Instead he only fought Jones and Hopkins on the backend of their careers. Its difficult for me to hold him in high regard because of this!

    I know it's been a bit, but, Robeisy Ramirez vs isaac dogboe got me back in. My Father in law was from Cuba, and thanks to him I go deeper into the sport. we would watch obscure fights and discuse upcoming ones we were excited about. early this year he passed away and trying to watch another fight without him would leave me in tears. But then came, this title fight with my father in law's favorite Cuban boxer. He wanted to watch him win a title, and I did that for him. It wasn't the best fight but it'll go down as a core memory for me seeing another Cuban reach the peak. It gave me the catharsis needed to continue the sport, and only deepened my bond with it.
