Yes precisely, the Cornetto trilogy is genius and this movie draws me in with every scene change and the comedic timing and structure like fuck. What a great director and cast
The first time you see this movie, all you know is it’s some kind of zombie movie. And they build the suspense up so carefully with the music and quick edits and when Shaun and Ed finally see the first zombie (the girl in the garden) you’re actually laughing. Partly in relief that it wasn’t too terrifying. And then it gets progressively more and more gory but it’s still funny all the way to the end. What a complete genius movie.
@@isaywhateveriwantandyougot7421 no i am saying opposite of what you are thinking. Spoof movies are always treated as low rank than original movie. But shaun of the dead is greater than dawn of the dead which is the original.

@@007southpawwhat he means is that they’re zombies because they’re just moving through their lives not paying attention to anything happening around them.
This is a common theme in the Cornetto trilogy, the main threat of each film is a personification of the protagonist's struggle in life. Shaun lives his life on autopilot with no motivation, just going through the motions, hence the zombies. Angel is always on the job, always looking for threats, hence the town-wide conspiracy. Gary King is stuck in the past, unable to face the realities of life, hence the robot aliens.

I grew up watching Edds World so watching 28 Days Later and Sean of the Dead and hearing a lot of this soundtrack which was used in Edds World makes me feel very much at home.
The whole thing is really about an unremarkable man who has no direction, drive or spontaneity. It turns out that he thrives on heroic problem solving. You see it starting when he dives into a shed door to find weapons. His drive escalates from there and he realizes he must go to Liz (who has dumped him) and save her from the zombie apocalypse. He becomes the de facto leader of his group. He becomes a hero. He even has to shoot his own mother to save his friends. Shaun Of The Dead is the movie I always turn to when I feel like an underdog.

If the opening sequence is supposed to show that people were acting like zombies before they actually became them, how would something as brainless as a zombie manage 3:27.
I guess the point is that they are just sorta doing something repetitive and they're distracted by their own activity so they probably don't notice the wolrd around them.
I remember when I was little and someone recommended the film to me, I was scared. But from the first scene (0:15), I knew I was going to have a great time xD
Liz: It's not that I don't like Ed. Ed, it's not that I don't like you. Ed: It's all right. Liz: It'd just be nice if we could... Ed: Fuck! Liz: ...spend a bit more time together. Ed: Bollocks! Liz: Just the two of us Ed: Cock it!
And in TimeSolitters 3, whilst picking out different characters, upon choosing one of the zombies, he goes "Do I have red on me?" Before flopping over n dying, hahaha
