13:30 i love how in the movie it's hinted that Barbra got bit. When the zombie's beating the glass door he doesn't have a bloody mouth, but when shaun comes to the rescue the zombie's mouth is now bloody.
Fun Fact: There was originally gonna be a scene showing how Shaun got away from the horde. It explained that, while leading them away from the Winchester, he had to stop and wait for them to catch up every now and then because they couldn't keep up
6:42 "And the front is open... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" kills me EVERY TIME. Also, fun fact: it's not Ed who keeps leaving the front door open, it's Shaun, you can tell because when he gets back from the shop he doesn't close it behind him and that's how the groom zombie gets in.
15:31 I love how The "Dont Stop Me Now" Scene isnt even an epic Zombie killing spree like you'd expect nowadays. Its just all of them beating the hell out of one zombie with pool cues.
One little detail worth pointing out is that at that Winchester bar scene at the beginning, Ed basically outlines the plot of the movie but in the form of a pub crawl "We'll have a Bloody Mary first thing, have a bite at the King's Head, a couple at the Little Princess, we'll stagger back here... BANG! Back at the bar for shots"
This happened in the words and aswell, everything that happened when they where teens happened when they were older. Just shows the genius of the filmmakers
Fun fact, there was actually a comic about Shaun running from the hoard of zombies only to realise that they were slow and he had to keep waiting. He eventually hid for some time and then went back to the pub without any trouble.
No matter how many times I watch this movie, I laugh my ass off every time. “Take car. Drive to mum’s. Kill Phil. Take Mum, pick up Liz. Fun fact in a deleted scene David actually gets his apology out and his girlfriend literally says “thank you David, that took guts” and right after that we get to the scene where hes torn to shreds (with his guts being ripped out but thats obvious), but was left out for running time and to ensure the scene would remain horrific rather than comedic justice. Ngl i totally get it cause knowing that makes that death scene comedically dark.
It's a shame that they cut that scene out because it would make us at least forgive David before he is torn apart whereas in the the actual movie he just dies a asshole

The writing in this movie is just too good. Even side chracters like that guy who was only mentionend once at the bar and how he was allways surrounded by women
All three films of the trilogy have fantastic writing full of foreshadowing Like the way Pegg's character describes what's going to happen drinking on the pub crawl mirrors what happens with the aliens at each pub
I like how Shaun seemingly trains zombie ed to play with him and the zombie complies with a sort of understanding almost as if ed isn’t fully dead yet still struggling for control
I grew up watching this movie, ever since it first came out. I love this movie, and I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best movies I ever experienced during my lifetime. I was 4 when it first came out, and it was a major part of why I love all things spooky, creepy, and maybe even scary. It's why zombies are my favorite horror movie monster type. Every time Philip dies, I am brought to tears due to the fact that growing up I didn't really have a father, just father figures. Thank you for covering this movie, James, it means a lot to me.

I actually thought it was a reference to Big Brother when I was younger. In the UK version the host used to say "I'm coming to get you!" after revealing the evictee. 2004 was when Big Brother was at peak popularity. I mean I know now that it was definitely more a nod at Romero but part of me wonders if it was supposed to be a two-fer.
I went on a movie date with my girlfriend to see this movie in a local theater thats known for showing predominantly horror movies, and they gave us a blow up baseball bat to hit each other with every time you saw a zombie. On it, theres just "You've got red on you" in bold red letters. Best damn date of my life. I still have the bat.
They had to bring it round from what Pete said earlier on about Ed wanting to live like an animal and to go live in the garden shed. Some shit like that
9:05 "We're coming to get you, Barbara!" - This line alone convinced me of Simon & Edgar's genius and still cracks me up every time! If only I knew someone called Barbara who I could endlessly quote this to! LMAO
Apparently they had a private screening with Romero and were waiting with baited breath for his reaction to that line "We're coming to get you, Barbara!" ... which, he completely missed and they were all "BUT WE WROTE THAT LINE JUST FOR YOOOOUUU". And yeah, Crouch End is indeed lovely .... one of my uncle's lives around the corner from that house.
@@evilbob840 Some say front garden and back garden, but in general if it’s an outside area attached to a house then it’s just called a garden. Especially since city places will generally only have a front or back garden, rather than both.

11:59 two things to point out in this shot, 1. the guy in the brown jacket is Reece Shearsmith, a British actor known for dark comedies such as league of gentlemen and inside no. 9 (watch them, they're amazing), and 2. Martin Freeman (Along with Bill Nighy) was in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

David just accepting that he’s done with life after pulling the trigger on Shaun has to be one of the most dark funny moments in this movie
to be perfectly honest i would describe david as a non-wizard asshole harry potter
I missed that he actually pulled the trigger. Makes him look a lot worse than I thought.
The scene where Shaun has to shoot his zombified mother makes me cry everytime
especially the "I'm sorry mom" line, and the freak out with David going to shoot her
this was a great movie
Fun Fact: At the Winchester in the beginning right when the outbreak began, Ed described the events they should do, which would be the events that happened in the movie. Clever foreshadowing right there.
It’s an aspect of each Cornetto video
The #1 fact everyone brings up when this movie is mentioned lol
I just finished supernatural and hehe Winchester
How's that for a slice of fried gold?
Awesome 😊👍
The writing in this movie is just too good. Even side chracters like that guy who was only mentionend once at the bar and how he was allways surrounded by women
Yep. And then he's surrounded by women being eaten later. These movies are absolutely spectacular
All three films of the trilogy have fantastic writing full of foreshadowing
Like the way Pegg's character describes what's going to happen drinking on the pub crawl mirrors what happens with the aliens at each pub
This was my first zombie movie & I watched it as a kid taking it seriously. The David death scene genuinely terrified me, fantastic movie.
NO SAME I remember the movie playing in the living room and watching that scene 😭
“Even if their festering skin is all yellow” that Coldplay reference was awesome
I just like how the heroes are average guys stumbling thier way through a crazy situation like normal people would!
James: “I would simply classify it as a zombie comedy”
Me: A Zomedy?
Or a ZomCom.
@@Lewken26 "bite-sized fun"?

I like how Shaun seemingly trains zombie ed to play with him and the zombie complies with a sort of understanding almost as if ed isn’t fully dead yet still struggling for control
The combo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost can't be replaced
There's also David Mitchell and Robert Webb
Work together like bread n butter
Both of whom are British
Edgar wright, Simon pegg and nick frost are the goats of comedy
Yeah I can’t believe they almost replaced him!
The "wait for all this to blow over" is perfect for parodies
We will just head over to the Winchester and wait till this all blows over

I grew up watching this movie, ever since it first came out. I love this movie, and I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best movies I ever experienced during my lifetime. I was 4 when it first came out, and it was a major part of why I love all things spooky, creepy, and maybe even scary. It's why zombies are my favorite horror movie monster type. Every time Philip dies, I am brought to tears due to the fact that growing up I didn't really have a father, just father figures. Thank you for covering this movie, James, it means a lot to me.
The movie was filmed right in the area where I live. Their house is literally 3 roads next to mine and I pass by or go to the shops where he brought the cornetto pretty much every day.

Nice touch
Anyone else watched this as a kid and was like.. “at least they aren’t 28 days later zombies.” 🤣🤣

Bro, the end. Its so badass to see two friends still playing video games after one is undead. Amazing.
Fun fact: the first time George Remero saw the film he didn’t get the “We’re coming to get you Barbara” reference
That's easy to it's Night of the Living Dead I have it on DVD
@@LiteDisc I never thought about that, it could be an unintentional reference to Big brother
I went on a movie date with my girlfriend to see this movie in a local theater thats known for showing predominantly horror movies, and they gave us a blow up baseball bat to hit each other with every time you saw a zombie. On it, theres just "You've got red on you" in bold red letters.

I love that Shawn kept Ed even if he's still a zombie. Now that's true friendship right there.
If it was true friendship, then he'd have given his friend the peace he deserves.... instead he has him locked up and stuck as a Zombie.....
He's locked up in a messy place playing video games with his mate... what's the difference? 😂
Eh, Ed living as a zombie is an improvement over how he was living before.
LMAO

Fun fact Shaun's mums death was so sad that after they shot the scene Simon pegg went outside of the studio and started crying
Fun fact 2: She’s also best known for playing incredibly posh people, but more than that, for being an acclaimed Shakesperian stage and classic BBC actress - this film/role isn’t the type of thing you’d ever, ever associate with her (well, until now anyway).
