Malaysian traditional wedding has a lot of varieties, every tradition is differ from the other due to the groom or bride's ;- -tribe -state or region they came from -sometimes their rank in siblings ( if they the eldest or the first one to get married there sometimes will have extras program). But normally for malay wedding there are 2 major and important programs 1. Akad Nikah (عقد نكاح): akad nikah is the first program, it is a requirement for all muslim when they getting marry. *Purpose: to legalise the couple to be a legal married couple. *Participant: groom, bride, parents, families, 2 witnesses and Tok Kadi/Jurunikah( is an official who is authorized to perform marriage ceremonies, but sometimes it will be the bride's father) *Procedures: the groom will shake hand with the tok kadi/jurunikah while recite the agreement/akad nikah while been witness by the all the participants. This is the important part of the ceremony, once the groom recited in front of the witnesses and approved by all, than they've become legal married couple. *Venue: Mosque, House or Islamic Religious Department Office and et cetra. *Situation: people will gather in one place or room and the groom will be the center of attraction, there will be beautiful trays with a lot of stuffs on it ( it is called "Hantaran" or dowry). There also will be wearing ring session. *What to do?: JUST WATCH AND BE HAPPY😁 2. Bersanding: bersanding is the second program and it is an option not a requirement. It is carried from Hindu tradition long before Islam set in this reigon. *Purpose: to announce or to inform the public/families and friends that the person already married and to celebrate them. *Participant: married couple, families, friends, neighbour and every single person that were invited to. *Programs: the groom and bride will walk in and sit on "Pelamin (bridal dais)" which the couple will be the attraction just like king and queen and will be sprinkle with rose water. some people preferred "Makan Beradab (Proper Dine)" instead of Pelamin, which is just the bride and groom having dinner in the middle of the day with the guests. And some people combined this two ritual togather. *Venue: House, Public Hall, Banquet Hall, Hotel and et cetra. *What To Do?: dine, meet the bride and groom. Try to get "Bunga Telur (egg flower) flower that attached with egg " as door gift. It is very iconic for Malay traditional wedding gift and experience. And there will also be other additional programs such as bride prade, photograph session, shake hand with bride and et cetra. The most important is enjoy the ceremonise.😁😁
