They are frequently not allowed to do that in their clubs. So, I disagree with the idea that tournaments are not relevant. They are indeed relevant. Younger players may be kept in the background because a more experienced player always gets to be in the starting line-up, and yet be the stars of their respective national teams. Older players, now reduced to enter games halfway-through the second half in big clubs, may show in tournaments that they are indeed still capable of performing 90 minutes at peak form. So, yeah...
Damsgaard is definitely a player that didn't get a lot of attention before the Euro's but is now on everybody's radar because of the tournament he had. I don't think he's ready for a big club yet

There're rumors that Sabitzer longs to leave RB Leipzig. So that might be an option, even though it's not a perfect fit positionwise. Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, or Frankfurt might be good alternatives to get to play in EL or CL.

Perhaps the case of Guillermo Ochoa is an understated example of a tournament transfer as he was unbelievable for the El Tri (especially in that game vs Brazil ), earning him a move to Malaga (who were playing in Europe back then) but he failed to reproduce that kind of scintillating form again.

I'd argue that tournaments granting you the opportunity to judge players relative to their fellow countryman is just as important as seeing them play at a higher level against better opposition or in a more pressuring environment. Gosens, for instance, was seen as a focal point in that German side full of Champions League and regular Bundesliga winners... I'm sure all clubs were already aware of him but seeing him have such an influence in that team will surely make them see things differently.

However, the general public probably had no clue about the spanish youth international playing for dinamo zaghreb that all the scouts were talking about. It's only now that many "normal" people found about his quality, and I'm sure he played better in these euros than even luis enrique had expected. When a large population of "average" football fans take notice in a player, it has an undeniable effect on the economy surrounding that player. He isn't just more valuable because of his footballing abilities, there's hype growing around him, which opens up many business opportunities.
While transfer based on a tournament is unlikely now, individual honour is still likely. Paolo Rossi, Sammer, Cannavaro, and Modric won because superb international tournaments for most parts in the year they won

Tournament transfers are a huge gamble to say the least, we don't see many today but it peaked in the 2000s(atleast according to me).
