La Masia is very well alive, it's still regarded as one of the premier football academies in the world. It's just that the landscape of the game has dramatically changed. Everybody in the top 5 leagues all want to win *NOW* that they can't afford to waste time testing out academy players and would rather shop known commodities.
Except Athletic Bilbao, and then it becomes develop the academy players a bit longer to where Unai Vencedor or Oier Zarraga appear in the 20s more regularly instead of teenagers
@@Eibarwoman That would be the optimal scenario but the problem for Barcelona is that La Masia is seen as one of the best-if not the best- Youth academy in the world, so they can't convince players to wait until they're in their 20's to give them first team football when there are clubs all around the world waiting to sign la masía's players offering first team contracts. e.g: Grimaldo, Xavi Simmons, Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, etc. Moriba, for example, is one of the bets from la masía and in order to retain him he became the highest paid player in the youth system, earning 2 million Euros per year. Barça can't pay that to all the good players the academy is producing .

it's too early to say, but if he makes a couple more dumb moves this season (playing roberto and umtiti over araujo and dest in one of the most important games of the season ystrdy), then it'll prove he's not. He's been a really good coach, but he's made really weird decisions at times

@@GloTheActivist300 Honestly all of them I mentioned look to be world class, pin my comment and see in 2-3 seasons. Mind you they are literally just in their breakout season
it was a golden generation of Spanish players best on a older system in the 90s of actually using youth players in the first team and holding onto them for the majority of their career. we are talking about a national team which dominated football for at least 6 years and on club level for the best part of a decade. I don't see them reaching that standard again however maybe there is something in international recruitment and getting the best youngster in world football with a clear progressive plan into the various first teams. There are also factors which have changed one positive being brexit uk clubs are no longer allowed to sign under 18 European players directly no there is less competition from these club hovering these players. Barcelona for all their problems still has a effective academy
Barcelona Culture is based off of Fluidity which means that they never really produce a world class striker, Because an out and our Number 9 would disrupt the fluidity of their football. Manaj isn't gonna make it at Barca and Peque is being used as a left winger I believe.
Sell unwanted players -> clear debt -> spend very less in market ( only buy a few quality players who can surely give atleast 5 years of service) -> increase funding for youth academy -> have confidence in your youth ( it's okay if we don't win the league every time ) -> you'll start to get results soon ... I know this ain't as easy as it sounds like... It is a 10 year project I think ... But Barcelona will have to let go the BIG CLUB status for a while in order to make the youth thrive ... Barca weren't the best club when Iniesta , messi, Busquets, Cesc , pique broke into seens ... Barca were a great team then ... But had enough space for the young players ... Such a thing should happen now ... Barca will win la liga this year ... But if they don't ... They should start working with the youth ... And they'll get results in 5-6 years or so ...
Barca is the only elite club that can fill entire XI with the players from academy: Peña - Alba Pique Mingueza S.Roberto - Busquets Puig Moriba Fuente/Collado - Fati Messi
The best academy growth policies are still in clubs like Man United, Liverpool and Real Madrid. In spite of needing big signing, there's always space for one or two youth prospects a year to make their way to the starting 11, or at least to the bench. Barça need to get back to that
Liverpool? Apart from Trent their normal injury free 11 hasn’t got any other academy players. Curtis Jones and a couple of others gets in with injuries.
For me, Barcelona changed after Neymar broke up MSN. Their football was so exciting to watch back when those 3 world class forwards thrived through their own talents and built upon that dynamic. It seems it's Messi to the rescue or the one who gives their tactics any flair these days.
La Masia is in this way a microcosm for global youth football and England could definitely take note. I wish Chelsea had protected Lampard. Several other managers dream (or pretend to dream) of actually promoting youth talent, but Lampard was the only one actually doing it, actually giving these prospects careers. Focusing purely on Mason Mount, Lampard was criticised and heckled time and over for repetitively playing Mount but had the guts and nous to stick to his guns where weaker men would’ve keeled to the pressure. Because of Lampard, Mount is now ranked as the 10th most valuable player in the world and was arguably Chelsea’s most important cog in their Champions League victory. He’s rightfully rated as one of the best players in Europe. That’s great. It’s just a shame that Lampard had to feel the force of the axe for the world to realise Mount’s talent. I know Chelsea have a penchant for doing that, I know they’re only ever about the short term, but they could’ve been trendsetters and established a real club ethos and chose not to. We need more coaches like Lampard, who protect youth. We need to protect them much more in this country if we’re going to get a better league and a better national team. The only other coach I know of is Mowbray at Blackburn who is trying it, at least within the top two tiers. I know this isn’t strictly related to La Masia but it just suggests a lot of home truths that can be applied universally to youth football. Other leagues would do well to implement the same as well. Trust and faith won’t just get La Masia back. It’ll get all the academies churning out great talents.
While not on Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Puyol, or Busi levels yet! There are so many great gems coming through with Ansu Fati, Ilaix Moriba, Riqui Puig, Oscar Mingueza, and Eric Garcia. But, for them to flourish, they need time, and that time is by far the most excruciating period for the club that might see Barcelona never winning anything. So the answer is it's up to fans and club owners (Socios in this case) again. Winning is important but is it enough to lose it's ideal? Or is it sufficient for people to only watch a beautiful play like what Johan Cruyff said?
In the words of Steve Jobs (paraphrased): - When the product developers are moved away from the decision making process in a company and business/finance people replace them, it’s the death of that company making good products." Or in simpler terms, when non-football people make the decisions at a football club you can say goodbye to the future of the club.
It's not like that, previously also a lot of gems came but due to bad management by Bartomeu and No coach believed in them so most la masia players They either Left for free or left for other clubs and some moved out on loan. But now the thing is our coach and also our President believe in Our masia player's so you'll see a lot of quality players will be in highlights
I believe the problem is not that La Masia needs fixed. Barcelona’s first team has dropped drastically in quality and is now more of a risk to use young players. However slowly integrating 1/2 at a time they can hopefully improve, but will sadly never get near the talents of the xavi, iniesta etc era
Not easily, although ready made superstars for your bench are a waste which may allow for the philosophy to prevail and still yield results if patient at paring away the big salary bench pieces.
Barca need a former La masia grad as coach . Xavi at the moment is the best option but he should take his time. It is a myth that Koeman trusts la masia . He tried his best to bring in deepay who has similar profile as Fati. He himself , in a leaked document , told Ramon Planes that Mingueza is not good enough to play in first team. Also , Moriba plays because he needed a sub for pedri but as he hated puig (who is brightest la masia prospect in years )so moriba came in.
The explanation with Xavi Simons is not that simple. There were 3 players who were up for renewal in 2019- Ansu Fati, Illaix Moriba and Simons. The club chose to bet on Fati and Moriba. To date, Moriba and Fati are scratching at the surface of the starting 11 at Barca. Simons is scratching on the surface of being a reserve at PSG
Please, Dinamo Zagreb youth system is well known for their rich experience and possibility to grow and play every season in the European theater. That's why Dani Olmo joined, and that's why more and more prospects join the club.
Dinamo Zagreb 's scouting and youth system are outstanding. I find them very exciting to watch. The only problem with the club seems to be these corruption scandals it seems to get involved in every now and then.
Koeman is a false image. Just because he plays young players does not mean that he is the man for the job. His treatment of riqui Puig and the lack of positional play in his tactics are obvious indications that he is not the long term solution.
Barca should revert to what made them so successful between 2009 and 2012, they produced gems. Time to reinvigorate Barca through their youth system instead of splurging needlessly.
I never get why clubs disregard their Academies. It's the best method to be self sufficient. If I were in charge of a club, I would mandate that at least one academy player comes through to the first team squad every season. Not necessarily into the first team, but into the squad. It's not too much to ask.
The academy is working fine, the club just doesn't use the young prospects coming through(especially if they don't fit into the rigid system used by the A-squad). Either they fit into the system or they are sold.
As a barca fan to the bone, the reason la masia has been “dead” which i dont agree with, was because of bartomeu. We didnt give youngsters a clear path to the first team, and thats why so many left. They felt their progression through the academy was pointless since they would never reach the first team, and left(rightly so). Barca has always been a team that dependa on the academy since they are the only ones who can play our style and need no adaptation time. Hopefully koeman and laporta will promote more youngsters and only buy certain positions needed(like haaland, de ligt, etc)
Academies don't make much sense in developing players for the first team. They do make sense in developing players to sell or let go to lesser clubs, with a player every blue moon making it to the first team.
Koeman literally bullies Mingueza, ignores Riqui Puig and Pedri plays because Messi loves him. He'd be much happier with an old bull like Wijnaldum. Really don't like the guy. Come back home Xavi.
Xavi could turn out like Lampard did at Chelsea, m8 Xavi should coach at a smaller team first then see how it turns out Althouughhh i said “could” But i dont know if barca being such a big club can afford too many losses

Arnau Tenas Inaki Pena Araujo Mingueza Balde Akieme Ramos Mingo Jandro Nico Gonzalez Ilaix Moriba Alex Collado Konrad de La Fuente Gustavo Maia And of course Ansu Fati We're stacked
I agree that many amazing players came out of La Masia but I can't under any circumstances say that Gerard Pique was one. He is a good defender but his problems became obvious when the amazing Puyol retired. If it wasn't for Puyol, Pique would have never being considered as a top tier defender.
When super agents get their hands on these players, Barcelona wouldn't have the financial to hold them. They'll probably sell all those talent like Ajax and Benfica did.
Why does nobody talk about the time we’re Jordi Cruyff was appointed manager of Ecuador then left days after his announcement, while allegedly weaseling a million dollars in his contract without even meeting the players? His involvement in this board is not a positive.
Can we have an analysis of what happened to AC Milan after having a great start to the season and being crowned winter champs, and now risk missing a CL spot?
Yes they were a one time thing because they had the trophies to show for it. But that doesn't explain the quality of a player, let's just say iniesta, xavi and busquets didn't win many big trophies would you still put them as the all time greats they are, no the media or the hype train won't even look to their side but xavi and iniesta will still be playing ball and splitting opposition defences with through balls. So what I'm saying is Barca now have the quality of youngsters who can reach the level of those players in a few years time in terms of football , whether they win 3 or 4 CLs and world cups is another thing but la.masia still is producing players of such quality.

Great content 👍
it was a golden generation of Spanish players best on a older system in the 90s of actually using youth players in the first team and holding onto them for the majority of their career. we are talking about a national team which dominated football for at least 6 years and on club level for the best part of a decade.
I just want to see La Masia produce a potentially world class striker...that's the only position that hasn't been been productive
Barcelona Culture is based off of Fluidity which means that they never really produce a world class striker, Because an out and our Number 9 would disrupt the fluidity of their football. Manaj isn't gonna make it at Barca and Peque is being used as a left winger I believe.
i mean, Messi sorta fits that i guess, even though he is more of a winger, he was the best "striker" when he played centrally
Fati can also play 9
Yea and that’s another problem
Barca as being such a big club can’t really afford to not compete in europe for even 3-4 years or something
Barca is the only elite club that can fill entire XI with the players from academy:
Peña - Alba Pique Mingueza S.Roberto - Busquets Puig Moriba Fuente/Collado - Fati Messi
Please make a video on Manchester United's academy
By the way, Koeman had nothing to do with Fati. It was Valverde who played him in light of the many injuries we saw last season.
A handful of Masia players won the Euro and Olympic……so yeah lol
Nice way to start the day with a Tifo upload :) I still want your job!!
Whenever a institution or individual sacrifice their roots and ideals for short term gain, that institution or individual is set to be doomed.
In the words of Steve Jobs (paraphrased):
- When the product developers are moved away from the decision making process in a company and business/finance people replace them, it’s the death of that company making good products."
Or in simpler terms, when non-football people make the decisions at a football club you can say goodbye to the future of the club.

Amazing work!!!!!
Next generation- fati, puig, moriba, mingueza, pena, colado, garcia, balde, Nico Gonzalez, pablo javi etc.
Recently they wasted so much money on 3 players and not replaced the old ones like Busquests, Pique etc
@@gjsnsbeisnsjwiowoaksns9197 True I wonder what took Barca so long to replace these aging players and introduce their successors.

I never get why clubs disregard their Academies. It's the best method to be self sufficient. If I were in charge of a club, I would mandate that at least one academy player comes through to the first team squad every season. Not necessarily into the first team, but into the squad. It's not too much to ask.
I love these videos!!

The academy is working fine, the club just doesn't use the young prospects coming through(especially if they don't fit into the rigid system used by the A-squad). Either they fit into the system or they are sold.
My dream is to be scouted from la masia to the first team in my opinion am pretty talented

To all those who claim La Masia is dead
Nonsense, to think that Xavi and Iniesta were like a one time thing is perfectly fine, but if you simply take away the benchmark of the class of the legends, then La Masia has produced certain talents that have either gone uutilized or have had to leave the club under previous leaderships.
Xavi Simmons was supposed to be a future Barca captain, so much so that half of the academy directors put personal leadership hours on him.
Carles Alena looked generationally good while at La Masia, if u take his performances at academy level only, he was seen as the most gifted player from the academy since Messi.
Alex Collado playing for Barca B is a disgrace, man has invoked comparisons with Leo Messi and has a similar flair with his playstyle. Sadly, he plays the same zone as trincao.
Konrad at 17, already starts for the USMNT.
Mngueza is a perfect example of how one needs very less luck and flair to succeed at barca. He was seen as a 3rd or 4th choice even at Youth level yet his determination has shown that he is taking a very similar path to a certain Carles Puyol, going from a fullback to Centre Back after being dismissed at youth levels.
Riqui Puig already showed how gifted he is last season, a typical barca gene midfielder. Rumour has it that he banged koeman's wife so he isnt being played.
Ilaix moriba made the Spain youth team benches even when he was still at Barca B
So did Arnau Tenas, considered the hottest goalkeeping prospect in Spain.
Gavi is only 16 and has already been scouted by none other than Luis Enrique thrice.
Iniaki Pena may not be tenas level gifted but is a solid young backup goalie.
not to mention talesnts like Olmo, Icardi, Thiago, Cucurella, Bellerin,Traore, Grimaldo etc that left the club too
The answer is yes!
It's at times like this that I wonder...What became of Isaac Cúença?

I agree that many amazing players came out of La Masia but I can't under any circumstances say that Gerard Pique was one. He is a good defender but his problems became obvious when the amazing Puyol retired. If it wasn't for Puyol, Pique would have never being considered as a top tier defender.
When super agents get their hands on these players, Barcelona wouldn't have the financial to hold them. They'll probably sell all those talent like Ajax and Benfica did.

Yo, Real Madrid fan here. I have emailed you about the Arabic voice-over offer and I'm waiting for a response.
Why does nobody talk about the time we’re Jordi Cruyff was appointed manager of Ecuador then left days after his announcement, while allegedly weaseling a million dollars in his contract without even meeting the players? His involvement in this board is not a positive.
Real Madrid's Academy isn't also that bad. Last Year they also won the Youth League.
Barcelona won it twice in the past. Hardly any of the players from those generations made their mark oddly enough.
The Barca Yin Yang was a great touch
Bartomeu and La Masia = battered housewife relationship
ALL OF THEIR PLAYERS ARE SMALL AND CREATIVE MAESTROS
CAN'T THEY PRODUCE A POWERFUL NUMBER 9 ?
True. They focus more on touch and technique than physical strength and power.
Can we have an analysis of what happened to AC Milan after having a great start to the season and being crowned winter champs, and now risk missing a CL spot?
Same as Tottenham?
Yes they were a one time thing because they had the trophies to show for it. But that doesn't explain the quality of a player, let's just say iniesta, xavi and busquets didn't win many big trophies would you still put them as the all time greats they are, no the media or the hype train won't even look to their side but xavi and iniesta will still be playing ball and splitting opposition defences with through balls. So what I'm saying is Barca now have the quality of youngsters who can reach the level of those players in a few years time in terms of football , whether they win 3 or 4 CLs and world cups is another thing but la.masia still is producing players of such quality.
