    As a corsetmaker, what I would have done to pattern the cups is to find a bra that fits like you want and do a duct tape pattern off it and then cut it into the shapes you want.

  • @TheEconWoman

    For future use, why don’t you set the stud tape on a slightly wider piece of grow grain or material that is black. Then the problem of the sticky back and the lack of width will be fixed. You will just have a slightly raised stud tape, but from, the front it will look like studs on black material. Just something to think about.

    • @tinasuarez
      @tinasuarez 16 часов назад +4

      I was just about to say this. Visually the stud tape would have stood out enough and it would have been faster and easier than trying to find the perfect width.

      Unfortunately the studs themselves were still too small, but if they had been the right size, that would be a good idea!

    I so admire your commitment to getting the details right and also I find you scary😊 I am not incredibly detail orientated, which has affected the quality of my sewing for 50+ years.

    I used to play roller derby, and wore fishnets, and I didn’t think of it because it’s been since before Covid was the last time I played roller derby. I always wore Footy socks under the fishnets so it doesn’t grab on your toes.

    • @morrowdimtindomiel
      @morrowdimtindomiel 14 часов назад +1

      I was thinking something similar. Maybe cutting off the foot at the correct place to sew it onto a footy sock. I know that Rebecca wears shorts under her dresses (brilliant idea), so perhaps dedicating a pair to sew the to of the stockings, as well, could add comfort. So, shorts up top, footy socks at the foot, and stockings in between, like Frankenstein hosiery.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад

      I was wearing these over other tights, so it wasn't grabbing onto my toes, but I think just having a texture under my foot when I was standing in such high heels for so long was what did it.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад

      Yeah, I was wearing shorts with these, but because of the skirt length, they were shorter than the ones I normally wear, so the fishnets were still rubbing together. I think for these specific fishnets, just taking off any of the higher up rhinestones is the key.

      That's what I was going to say. They have distribution centers all over the place and ship from wherever. I noticed that sometimes there are choices when ordering to consolidate for a single delivery, but that may add a couple of days and I suspect they are still shipping from several different places and then being put in one package so the delivery guy doesn't have to keep coming to your house.

    Also in general if you're using a mainstream pattern company corset pattern you always have to size down because they add 2-3 inches of ease even to corset patterns, which need negative ease.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад +1

      I had already taken that into account with this pattern. It was just really super big.

    I absolutely love the top half with the holographic material (together is great too) and I would love a top made just like that. I'd shorten the bustier too since I still have enough belly for it to poke when I sit down. It's a very cute costume so far, I look forward to seeing all your finishing touches for your next event.

      Did you get your fishnets from snagg? I feel like I saw they had some and they're usually really comfy.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад

      I haven't tried snag fishnets (they don't have any rhinestone ones unfortunately), but the nude tights I was wearing underneath the fishnets are from snag.

    On the Amazon Package Issue: Probably every article was stored in a different storage house.
    Here in Germany almost half of the offered articles are Amazon Marketplace, some of them with shipping fee some of them with free shipping for prime user (but still not prime delivery) aka shipping is not by Amazon. So there is a pretty big chance that I order 3 articles and every article comes with a different shipping company.

    It looks gorgeous! The look really suits you too. For the strap across the top of the undershirt, could you maybe out a little weight in it to keep it from popping forward so much? A coin perhaps?

    • @KitOfTheWeirdWoods
      @KitOfTheWeirdWoods 17 часов назад +1

      I commented that before finishing the video, glad it's not an issue. For the tights, I usually wear comfy socks with tights just in case, and some chub rub shorts over them. Could shorts stop the rhinestones rubbing?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад

      I was bike wearing shorts, but because the skirt is shorter, they weren't long enough to stop the fishnets from rubbing together.

    There's a lot of detail in that costume 😅 im rather amazed you managed to get so much done in time for the party.
    Its a very striking look, it'll be interesting to see what it looks like with all the trims added - although i do NOT envy you attaching all those studs by hand one by one omg 😱.
    I haven't worn fishnets in years but i still remember that under-the-foot burn, ouch!
    Happy Halloween Rebecca 🎊 👻 (although its guy fawkes night now! 🔥)

    One thing to remeber when it comes to how they do for example the cup go on the broadway one is also due to her size of bust and how it sit on her. If she had a more straigth ahead bust the cup had looked diffrent becouse she bow need it to end far out on the side due to she still has bust there. My dilemma as well on bustiers becouse they not made for a wider bust at all so it just get unfomfteble when it cut bust off. If your bust look diffrent then the person you make same custum that need to be adjusted and can't allways look perfekt the same becouse we don't have same shape

    Looking good, so far. Other than your corset, I take it you were wearing your usual underlayers with this costume? When I look at the pictures that you show of the costume, I do wonder whether the performer has to wear special undergarments (basically anything other than standard underpants and bra). Also, do you put the dress on over your head, like with most shirts?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  8 часов назад

      I have heard possibly that some versions of the shirt may actually be a leotard for the performers, but based on straps I've seen, most are still wearing a bra, and/or maybe a basic leotard underneath. And yeah, the shirt just pulls on - no closures.

    What if you used like a comb clip or even a small headband for the crown?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  8 часов назад

      I did try a headband, but it made it stick up too much. I don't think a comb would do enough - it would just slide out of my hair.

    Have you tried stitching with tissue paper between your fabric and the foot to help with “sticky” fabrics?
    I’m right there with ya with costume fabrics and machine troubles! I made a Chappell Roan sequin outfit and broke 2-3 needles and the whole machine 😅

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  8 часов назад +1

      I haven't, though I'll know now for next time. And yeah, I've had needle breaking projects before, but never one that dulled so many needles without them breaking.

    Have you ever used coutil for a corset/bustier?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  День назад +2

      Only for the first one I ever made, which was a costume college class. I found that not only was it expensive and harder to source, but that corset stretched more than when using cotton canvas.

    That is actually 1 in that is divided into 16th's. It does look a little confusing without the millimeter marks identified.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад

      One part is, but the other is divided into 10ths, which I've never seen on an inch ruler.

    • @aksez2u
      @aksez2u 13 часов назад

      @@LadyRebeccaFashions 10ths of an inch?! Why don't we just switch to metric already. At least that makes sense 😆

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  13 часов назад +1

      That's why I thought it was metric!

    • @jaytalbot1146
      @jaytalbot1146 12 часов назад

      Machinists in the US often use decimal inches, so a scale divided into tenths of an inch and something smaller, often 50ths though 20ths here, is not so unusual. It does seem very odd to use it for fabric trims though.
      That chain is a aluminum which is very light, something heavier would drape better, maybe stainless steel or plated brass. Solid silver (not just plated) might be ideal as it is quite dense but it won't be so readily available in that sort of size and of course the price of silver will be a LOT more than aluminum.
