Unlike many people, I like this episode. Working in a place like that can be very depressing, the repeating, not a "career" job, I like the zombie vibe even tho no real zombies involved lol.

22:57 This is a replication of the scene in the movie "My Stepmom's an Alien" when Willow was a child.

Really good episode and interactions between Anya and Halfrek and Amy and Willow. Buffy and Willow's characters are really well written and i love the strange atmosphere

Blackmail is the conditional threat to reveal a secret ( for example) whereas extortion is the conditionnal threat to do something illegal.

    • @ernesthakey3396

Extortion is a crime that involves the use of coercion to obtain property, money, or services from a victim. Coercion, in this case, usually involves force, violence, threats to destroy property, and improper government action. On the other hand, blackmail doesn't involve force or threat of violence.

Interesting and entertaining reaction.Thank you. Buffy is on a sad journey but one that millions of young people must make. The idealistic approach to life must give way to reality. Buffy is on more than one journey now. Buffy is now a mirror of Joyce. No way that Joyce was prepared to be a single mother of a teenage girl. We are now seeing how Joyce saw Buffy with the way Buffy is seeing Dawn. Buffy was a mystery to Joyce and she was uncertain in how to be a Mother. Joyce did not like her job but had to provide somehow. Joyce was alone and I remember her telling Buffy she felt lonely in Sunnydale. Buffy is following her Mother by sacrificing for Dawn at her own expense. You commented about the behind restaurant sexual with Spike being pathetic. When I first saw this, Faith came to mind. Faith was always looking for some reason and meaning. She was lost and used sex to give her some feelings and a connection to someone. Buffy no longer has any parental interaction.(Parents are gone and Giles has left) Willow has her own battles and Xander is moving to his new life. All the while , Buffy is too ashamed to share what she is doing with Spike. Slowly , Buffy is slowly moving to personality traits of Faith with the loneliness and responsibility of a single Mother. Add her depression, post heaven, and the nuisance of the trio with her normal Slayer duties… these are tough times for her.

Tough times indeed. That's an interesting comparison you made with Faith. I'd forgotten she used sex like that. I really appreciate being thanked for posting reactions, so thanks for that, and thank _you_ for watching. 🙂

Your reaction to the finger made me laugh SO hard! The expression on your face as you realized it was a finger was priceless. 🤣 You actually physically recoiled. ❤️🤣
This wasn’t my favorite episode. Like with the last episode, it’s not stellar, but it’s solid, entertaining Buffy.

2 thoughts: 1) Spike saying she's better than being a fast food worker/that job is elitist of him, and when I think about it, doesn't seem like something he'd usually say. It's interesting because an underlining thread for Buffy/Faith is whether or not they think they're superior to others.
    2) It still bothers me to this day that the Scooby Gang stayed in Buffy's house for who knows how long and never helped her with the bills, as far as the narrative has us believe. The only onscreen help she has is from Giles, not even her own family/father.

    • @jaypeakay5864
      @jaypeakay5864  4 месяца назад +1

Right! I remember now that Faith once told Buffy about being superior. I'd forgotten all about that. 👍 Buffy's father is absolutely useless. 🤦 During my most recent reaction, I said he was probably the biggest Villain in Buffy's life. 😬

Fast food companies pulled their sponsorship of this episode. Crew said they didn't like how the fast food brand was treated in said episode. But many people who work in fast food (and in my opinion any job could get this way if you do the same things day in and day out) say the industry can be monotonous for employees. To the point of feeling like Buffy (minus the assumption of mythological dealings). It doesn't help on Buffy's end that she is in the middle of depression, either.

I don't think the Trio would work with Amy - Warren is too much of a misogynist, and a woman with magical power would reduce his influence over the other two guys.
I thought it was an okay episode; I have worked in a dining hall and while the work was a bit icky, it wasn't this bad.

Well Beer Bad was bad, but this is possibly up there with it in being a pretty poor episode. A real filler if ever there was one. Ok I get the fact that Buffy needs an income etc, but its just ridiculous. A ropey plot at best. The only really good thing about this is the conversation Willow has with Amy. We Willow assert her power at the end saying to Amy 'if you are my friend stay away from here, and if you are not my friend you better stay away from here'. Can't be coincidence the Rick Moranis lookalike is the manager, I think was deliberately made to look like him 'Feed Me Seymour' in homage to the plot of Little Shop Of Horrors. Of course we see Halfrek the vengeance Demon who seems to be coaxing Anya over Xander. Halfrek of course is played by the same actress that played Cecily the brilliant Fool For Love in S5, who spurned Spike's love advances when he was William. All in all not a great episode, of course we Buffy's sex addiction to Spike reaching further levels now having sex out the back in the alleyway near the bins, we can see how this is becoming more destructive.

I get what you mean. That said, I feel like they captured the atmosphere of working in a place like that really well. Or at least that's how I imagine it to be like. 🤔

I don't agree at all, it shown realistic hard things Buffy affords like working, and Anya and Halfrek interaction was great too, it developps Anya and Xander storyline as well. This is a filler for the main plot but really interesting for characters, especially Willow and Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar was excellent and the atmosphere was strange and well done. It is a critiscism too about fast foods. This season is imo the most audacious season, and quite filler episodes have an atmosphere and are interesting like this one and the 14th.
