If she loves him, she hates herself for loving him because he is what she she is supposed to hate. She cannot forgive herself, so she does not want to be forgiven by anyone else. If she does not love him, she is using him, and he loves her. She does not want forgiveness for that either.
I agree with your analysis. Embarrassment, shame, confusion, self-loathing, fear, and love all on the edge of a blurred line that once was black and white. With Angel, his soul fixed these things in her head.
Tara said it was okay if she loves him and okay if she did not. Another blurred line.
    (Tara has the best heart.)

That's a really good explanation of what's going on with her. 👏 It was a difficult scene to understand, for me at least, haha.
Tara was great with Buffy during that final scene. It kinda feels right that she opened up with her. Tara's definitely the most compassionate/understanding Scooby, IMO. I feel like Buffy hasn't forgotten the little sit-down chat they had during 'The Body' episode. 💔

We know there's a sizeable river near Sunnydale because that's where Allan was dumped. Presumably there's a bridge, so if Katrina's body washed up downriver due to Spike's bungling, it might be assumed she jumped off the bridge?

I'd rest up a bit cuz where this seasons going is worth being awake for. The biggest finales for Buffy, I'd say, are 5, 6, and 7. Season 6's finale is actually a two part, and it's a reckoning that's been anticipated.

I wrote out this brilliant 10 paragraph response to this episode and then I hit the wrong key and erased it all and I am bummed. And too tired to try to recreate it. But mostly it was about all the things Buffy said to Spike when she was beating him were the things she really felt about herself, not him, and why, and she feels she came back without her soul and that's why she's afraid they are together. And she does love him, but despises herself for that, so tries to convince herself she is just using him, because it makes her disgusted with herself. That's just my personal theory. But I backed it up and everything.
Also, Warren's a disgusting pig and Tara is the sweetest, kindest, least judgmental, most supportive friend on the planet and it was great to see her and Buffy continuing a relationship outside of Willow.

    Hi.
Spike doesn’t have a soul, the love is real the consistency to appropriate behaviour or empathy is zero. He’s a toxic obsessive. Buffy started sleeping with spike after she figured out he could actually hurt her. She said she’d never trust him and still let him handcuff her. She is substituting lust for unaliving ideation or resentment for her resurrection. As in spikes killing of his second slayer, there’s a death wish in slayers he identified and manipulated for the kill

This was the episode where I first discovered the Buffy series.
I'd seen the movie, and while it was okay, I wasn't terribly impressed. (YMMV as always). So I'd never been motivated to seek out the TV show.
Well, while I was traveling overseas on business, I went looking for something in English to watch and discovered this very episode. After scraping my jaw up off the floor, I shocked out the next episode the next week (still overseas although in a different country).
And when I got back, I tracked down the series and got caught up before finishing the series as it finished its run.
Now some comments about the episode itself:
And, in this one, Dawn continues to annoy me. She's all "Why won't anybody (especially Buffy) spend time with me" and yet at the beginning of the episode, Buffy does want to spend time with her. Only she's spending the night at her friends. When it's suggested she reschedule she can't because they're having Mexican. Yeah, she wants to spend time with Buffy but what's that set against a taco.
She wants Buffy to spend time with her, but only when it's convenient to her.
In the fight at the police station, Spike isn't even trying to fight back. He's basically letting Buffy beat on him in an effort to let her work some of the frustration out of her system. It doesn't really work, but he tried.
Note how different Tara's response is to the idea of Buffy sleeping with Spike here compared to in Intervention back in Season 5. I think she recognizes that Buffy's in an entirely different headspace considering the trauma she's experienced and the deep depression she's suffering. Tara is more understanding of what Buffy is going through than Buffy herself is.

I think we can see the way Buffy is now with Spike is that her sex addiction to him is reaching critical levels. Even though she needs him to fulfill her desires we know that deep down she knows this to be wrong, even though we see a soulless Spike seem to have genuine feelings at this stage. Buffy of course can confide in Tara, as she is still very much a periphery character in the group, and Buffy feels she can trust her without the others knowing. The Trio from being somewhat slapstick in earlier episodes are now becoming very sinister indeed, or rather Warren who is totally dominating the other two. Warren meeting Katrina again and treating her like this is terrible, this is actual sexual abuse (mirroring Rohypnol spiking), and the other two just seem to go along with it, as they a puerile idiots. When Warren murders Katrina, we can really see how totally evil he has become. The part back in The Bronze with Spike and Buffy is so telling, as she cannot resist the temptation from Spike, and he is questioning whether she really belongs with The Scoobies, again since switching Networks we can really see the adult tone of the show now. The devious plot by The Trio to frame Buffy for Katrina's murder spectacularly backfires thanks really to Spike begging Buffy to not go in, and I think it is so uncomfortable to watch Buffy beat Spike outside the Police Station, bordering on abuse after he tells her he loves her ' he says to her you always hurt the one you love'. When Buffy hears Katrina's name she realises the truth. A powerful ending when she opens up to Tara, saying 'why do I let him do these things to me' Buffy seems to be painting herself as a victim here, which in a way she is, but she is very much a willing partner unable to control her sexual urges. A terrific episode a 100% improvement on the preceding episode

And the thing about Warren is that even in his premiere episode in S5, the audience was never left with the idea that he was a good person. His manipulative traits were on full display and his lack of respect for women was there from the start as well.

Don’t change your reaction style. You actually are reflecting the show. It was easy when they were starting but now they are young adults making tough adult decisions. That’s life and that’s difficult and makes all of us uncertain.
This is a complex episode but for clarity view Buffy through the prism of her journey to be a strong , independent, and loving woman. This is season is fighting the tripod that trips so many… individual freedom of choice versus societal compliance with acceptance of others defining you( Joyce), her personal worth and healthy sexuality of herself versus the self hatred and use of sex to punish herself for feelings of guilt ( Faith) and the mental toughness of daily life to surrender to defeat by negative actions( Depression caused by outside factors). These are the 3 roadblocks to overcome in her final battles to complete her journey. This episode is a focus on the Joyce/ Faith battle. Think of her encounters with Spike like those of Faith with men. Faith hates herself but continues to repeat her actions. The fight Buffy has with Spike is very similar to the fight Faith has with Angel also in the alley. Faith accidentally killed a man and was at a crossroads. This is the point that Buffy has but unlike Faith she has the moral clarity to make a difficult choice, to lose it all, and turn herself in. This is why she breaks down with Tara. Buffy is not Faith and she is realizing the self destruction of herself and the emotional damage she is inflicting on Spike and the others
Now the Joyce part of Buffy. She has been put in a Joyce role and has accepted being a single Mother but Joyce was also a victim. Though not complete yet but recall teen Joyce in Band Candy and fiancé Joyce in Ted. Joyce is a willing complient to brutish men and wants to please them. Remember the handcuffs she hands Buffy and that she has public sex twice on the police car. We saw people on the street when they were walking to the clothing store and people sitting in a coffee shop or restaurant. Joyce was a willing submissive to Ripper and pursued action/ pleasure at the expense of Buffy and her safety. She placed a serial killer in her family for the security of a well off husband and gave her car keys to an unlicensed Buffy so she could party with Ripper.
There are complaints about Dawn but are her actions any different to how Joyce saw the actions of Buffy? We see the show mostly from Buffy’s perspective but remember how Buffy appeared to Xander in The Zeppo Factor and to all the Scoobys in Restless. Dawn is acting up to us and does not appreciate Buffy. If we had the perspective of Joyce in Seasons 1&2 would Buffy be like Dawn?
Finally in the Ted episode Buffy thought she had accidentally killed Ted. Joyce like Spike was going to try and cover up the deed and get Buffy off. But Buffy did the difficult thing and took full responsibility. She does the same in this episode, 5 years later, to show us that Buffy did not come back different. Buffy is still a morally correct hero on what is right and wrong. She is now trying to gain the same clarity on emotional intelligence dealing with life, relationships, sex, and individual choice that does not negatively impact or hurt others. This is the final step but the most challenging.
Keep up the great reactions. They are entertaining and try not to second guess yourself.

Yeah actually I do not agree with the "moral duty" of being a slayer being totally unpaid, because, think about it: It's still a living human body DOING the slaying. Living human bodies need to EAT. And food costs money. Money is usually earned by getting paid by doing a service. Slaying TAKES AWAY FROM OTHER potential times and opportunities to do other services to earn money. Therefore, slaying SHOULD GET PAID, if anything, to fund the effort. I mean, think about it: Do police officers get paid? YES. DO other public protective services get paid? YES. So, slayers should get paid or their very effort are actually getting hindered.

The early access edits are in a $5 tier for the first month, and then they become accessible from a $2 tier thereafter. That's to make it fair for those who've been patrons for months.
The full reactions are all in the $2 tier, but they're watch-along reactions, which means you need your own copy of the show to sync with the reaction. 🙂
It's likely that I'll finish the show on there a full season ahead of the RUclips uploads. In which case, I might create a 'channel membership' option, so that anyone who doesn't want to wait 5 more months, can binge watch the final episodes on here.

This is only a suggestion, but consider perhaps going with your initial gut feeling and scoring episodes without worrying about the "general consensus". Everyone has their own opinion about things based on their own personal taste. Worrying about things like "what will everyone else think?" may cause unnecessary stress and over time have a negative effect on your overall health. People that watch your channel are most likely fans who are entertained by your personal take on things and on some level respect your opinion even if it's not the same as theirs. Why else would they watch, because they DON'T like you? And let's not forget, you're reviewing a show that people watch for entertaining fictional fun. No one is watching to hear how you think the world's problems should be realistically solved. What's the worst that could happen if you give an honest score from your heart? Someone will comment a different opinion than yours? That's always a possibility no matter how you score an episode, honest or not. Up to you how to handle this of course. If you're becoming burnt out from the reactor experience and need a break you have to think of your health first and "Buffy" after. Best of luck!

I always want to make my reactions as 'fair use' as possible. It also makes it easier to break up the footage in the edit. I actually thought I spoke a little less on this one, maybe I didn't. 🤔 I'll always do a lot of talking, though. It's not necessarily an accurate reflection of the full reaction (sometimes it is 😂) because the edits usually include almost all of what I say (for the aforementioned 'fair use' purposes).
