thank you. It is a perfect solution for my patchwork
This tab hanging is perfect for decorating Scandia style for Christmas! Thanks Mike, and for the tip of turning the sleeve with twine.
That string tip for flipping tubes just changed my life! Thanks!!!
I inherited a quilt top hand pieced by maternal grandmother. Many seams were uneven and bulky, plus very fragile. I used lightweight interfacing to set all the seams. Due to the fragile state of quilt I decided to hang the quilt for display only. This is PERFECT for the hanging process!!! Thanks
I like your idea for interfacing the seams. I'm working with a fragile cotton that frays a lot. I'll try it. Do you fold the interfacing over the seams?
@@BodyworkByYves greetings, I pressed with an iron the interfacing, over the entire back of the quilt covering the seams and all blocks. I did not fold the interfacing.
I'm making my mom a small landscape quilt with some detailed embroidery for displaying in her living room and I love the idea of using a stick/branch because she's really into photography nature!! I have some fabric that looks like wood and I'm going to use that on the binding (just like a frame!) Thanks so much for this video!🙂
Excellent tutorial! I'm excited to tab my quilt and display it on a branch like you've done. P.S. That's an oak branch ;)
This is great - thanks!
In a restaurant that hangs pictures, wall hangings, etc. there is a wall hanging hung with tabs and using an arrow. I've also see one hung with a fishing pole and lures. Lots of good hanging ideas out there--like the piece of wood.
I always look forward to your videos because I know I will learn something new Great job Rob
Great tutorial! I always learn something watching you! Your energy is so infectious!
I wish this video was done a couple of months ago. I made a log cabin Christian cross quilted wall hanging. I would have added tabs to it... Too late now, I've already gifted it to my cousin for his newborn's nursery.
I will defiantly add tabs to my next wall hanging. 😜
Love your tutorials!!!
You'll have to let us know how it goes for you on future ones, Laura! :)
You're brilliant, I love using the twine to turn it! What kind of wood, hmmmmmmm........... It's not a desert species, so I wouldn't have any idea. Next time show a cactus I can identify those. Great tutorial thanks
My quilt coach Linda just taught me how to make a sleeve last week. We used a scrap quilt block I had in my toolbox.
What a great idea, Jonathan! I love that you have a quilt coach - I'm sure she's a wealth of knowledge! :D
This is a very helpful video. Thank you.
Another great tutorial. Thank you Rb
Looks like a piece of oak wood. Another wonderful tutorial!
It could also be vine maple. I think you call it a branch or stick, not a piece of wood.
great tutorial - looks so easy
Great idea!! Thanks Rob!
Your work is awesome
love that iron - I want it
joyful tutorial as always
Thank you x 1000000
Just what I needed! I am making a scary, embroidered, wall hanging. Hmmmm, what kind of rod should I use for that?! lol Wish I would have known that twine idea about a week ago when I had to turn a long tube; it took me forever!
Have fun with your wall hanging project!
Thanks. It has been very fun to make. I am ready to put on the batting and backing, and do some quilting.
Very helpful, Rob, thank you!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the hanging ideas. I want to now hang a quilt on a piece of bamboo. How do you decide on spacing for a 50” quilt? I have one made for me; it’s about 45” with just 3 tabs. The quilt sags. Also the tabs seem to cause the quilt top to “pout” towards the front a bit. Is there a tip to avoid these issues? Thanks a lot.
Great, thank you.
Thank you.
How do you do the turning again with the pin and string, do you have another video that shows different ways to do that?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I LOVE the wood idea for hanging. BUT I cannot work out where the tabs go in relation to the wadding backing and front panel. I am so confused!! HELP!
❤️🌹
Very good video and now I know how to do this. BUT....... I have a quilt made by my Great Grandmother over 100 years ago. I would love to display it, but I'm not sure how to do it. Would it look ok if I just put a large rod on the wall and then just hung the quilt over the rod? I love your videos because I always learn something new!
I've seen many quilts displayed that way, Mary. It's a great option for showcasing quilts, it just doesn't show the entire quilt at once, which isn't as important when the quilt doesn't depict a scene. :)
Just make sure whatever the rod is that the quilt won't be damaged by hanging on it. Use some sort of protection.
Is there an easy way to add sleeve or tabs to quilt that already has binding?
So far I haven't seen a way to add tabs to a finished quilt, but you can add a sleeve! Just take a look at the tutorial that Jenny Doan has on that: ruclips.net/video/7ZPRt0NU9Hg/видео.html
+Man Sewing Thanks for the tutorial link Rob. Just what I was looking for!
The video was great but I was so distracted by the quilt in the background. Do you have a video on how to make it? It is gorgeous!
Hi Dicki! That is my Color Strata Quilt! You can watch the tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/gGwGPd11_Lk/видео.html Have fun sewing!
What kind of iron is that? I've got to have one. Thanks for a great video.
Never mind, I goggled it. thx
Any ideas if the quilt has had binding already.
Hi Karen! The finished quilt shown in the beginning has been bound. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know!
good video, thanks! after the video, another one shows..sherwood quilt, but i can't find it. is it published?
Sherwood Quilt it says it's coming soon. Means it isn't up yet. I want to see it too, looks really pretty.
No worries, it will be out soon! Just keep an eye out! :)
Didn't get out you sew the sleeve into the binding.... can someone explain a wee bit more? thanks.
He pinned the tabs or sleeve to the back of the quilt before he pinned the binding over it. When he sewed the binding to the quilt, the tabs/sleeves were caught in that seem.
You've got it! Thanks for clearing that up a bit. :)
+Man Sewing. I've got it too now! Thanks!
The wood that you are using is oak.
Thanks so much for that, Linda! It's good to know. :)
Can someone tell me why you would display a quilt instead of use it?
Some quilts are made with a lot of embellishment and not meant to go on a bed.
A lot of us like to use our quilts as decoration and display them instead of using them Danielle! Seems weird, but is something we like to do! :)
Thanks for replying! I like blankets too much, so I don't think I could stand seeing it on the wall! Whatever works for you though lol
I live in the southern Alabama so quilts are not something that's needed for warmth so most southern quilters either make quilts to be used as bed covering or wall hanging. And I don't have the large sewing area to make large quilts so I enjoy making bedrunners, tablerunners, baby quilts and wallhangings
