I was second best for almost 20 years. Not to just one person or a ghost but to anyone that could get their feelings hurt, or asked for help, or needed him...or "he caught feelings for" just anything you could imagine. I didn't have low self respect or low self love but rather he took that away from me little by little without me realizing it. Until it was gone and then I assumed I deserved it some way. Funny thing is he had very low self-esteem I built him up and build him up and he tore me down and tore me down. I'm glad you realized it within 5 years. could have been a lot worse. When I finally stuck up for myself and told him to leave I ended up with five grand babies raising them. All by myself. Though I did end up getting some self-help I can't stop feeling like I've wasted 20 years of my life. I'm glad everything worked out great for you. I just had to see him yesterday and it was really hard. Hearing your story really helped to re-establish that I am worthy. So thank you for sharing.
