    Lyrics:
I feel so bad I've got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind on Blue Bayou
Saving nickels, saving dimes, working 'till the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times on Blue Bayou
I'm going back some day come what may to Blue Bayou
Where you sleep all day and the catfish play on Blue Bayou
All those fishing boats with their sails afloat If I could only see
That familiar sunrise through sleepy eyes, how happy I'd be
Go to see my baby again
And to be with some of my friends
Maybe I'd be happy then on Blue Bayou

grew up listening to both Elvis and Roy. Just my opinion, but Roy was, at the very least, equal to Elvis. Saw the Big E in Vegas in '71. Great but not humble. Roy was great, a true legend; plus always humble and honest.

I have the original Monument 45 Oh Pretty Woman I bought in Chicago in 1964, I was 15 then, still have it and treasure it like gold. The flip side is a beautiful ballad most people never heard, called Yo Te Amo Maria, find it somewhere and play it, that song shows the true Roy Orbison and his love of singing!

When I was a young lad in Brentwood. A buddy and I would on Saturday morning, hop on our Schwinns and ride out 20 miles to Babler Park. They had a building that had a juke box. I would put my nickel in it and play this song over and over as I ate my lunch...Deviled Ham...the 50's...just my rambling ignore me.

I'm 75 and was raised on his music. I also feel the music died when a lot of these types of recorders stopped singing.
When Richie Valens, The Big Bopper and Buddy Holly died, that's when this kind of music truly died!

I think it was either Tom Waits or Jim Jarmusch who described Orbison's voice emanating from a radio back in the day as otherwordly. Couldn't agree more, and altho I like Linda's arrangement better, what Roy does at 47 seconds and again at 1 minute 40 seconds attests to his genius.
Plus it doesn't hurt to be an American legend.

The most unlikely romantic -- Roy was one of the best songwriters ever. His songs
tugged at your heartstrings and his mellifluous voice made his songs all the better.
A beautiful man who suffered untold tragedy in his life. I was hooked the first time
I heard him sing -- "Only the Lonely." There was always a sadness that pervaded
his wonderful songs, many that were co-written with Joe Melson.

I spent twenty years in West Texas. Always went to his hometown of Wink, Texas where I had business. And went to most of the yearly celebrations for the great music he left with us.......What a great musician. I always thought he was blind, but if you read his biography, he just lost his favorite pair of sunglasses and tried on some dark ones, and that stuck.

He didn't always wear dark glasses. The story he told was that he accidentally forgot his 'regular' ones on the plane, and in order to actually be able to see he wore his prescription lenses. He got a lot of publicity for it, and decided to 'keep it in the mix.' He was NOT blind.

In 1959 our favorite hang out was the local juke box, 6 pence a song. A coke was also 6 pence. We played them all till midnight on Fridays and Saturday. What a time.
