I just had a bilateral mastectomy 2 weeks ago and the just the idea of doing downdog or a few of the other yoga poses like upward facing dog would sent me to the hospital. I do not say this lightly and I am a 500 Registered Yoga Trainer with years of experience. I do however appreciate the rest of the video.
Yes, the yoga positions were just examples of what to work back to eventually, not necessarily what to do right away! Your yoga background will definitely help with your recovery. Before my surgery I wasn’t sure what I’d be able to do in terms of exercise post-surgery. I ended up doing a video reviewing what I did week by week after surgery…not sure if you’ve watched it already - ruclips.net/video/t8bCo8OFSTk/видео.html
Thank you! Having my skin sparing bilateral mastectomy in 6 days, will have expanders put in over the muscle immediately after. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
I had expanders put in on September 21 and got large hematomas on both sides. I had to go back in for surgery on the 30th to have the hematomas cleaned out! I am not having any pain from the expanders that tylenol doesn't help. After my second surgery heals I will have to wait at least 2 weeks for my first fill.
I am 3 weeks post op and have under the muscles expanders and don’t have a lot of pain, more discomfort. I do have a good bit of swelling so I haven’t done the rehab exercises for a couple days. Started massaging to help with spots that are more painful; under arms and top of chest are worse but it’s so weird that there isn’t much feeling. I haven’t had a fill yet.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree, it is really weird to not have much feeling. I’m 3 yrs out and it’s still weird! Hope the filling process goes well.
Thx for the suggestion. I’m going to start interviewing other cancer thrivers about their reconstruction experience. I will see if I can do a video for a single mastectomy and reconstruction.
What helped you to reduce pain with your tissue expanders? Comment below.

I have had my expanders in for two month. I just start feeling pain against my breast bone as if something stuck or stabbing me has anyone felt this?
I didn’t have this, but I’ve heard other women describe this.

You're most welcome! All the best with your upcoming surgery.

How frustrating for you! Hope the process is more smooth going forward.
