@@TheCrazyCapMaster Fist of the North Star is probably the next-most memebed action anime to Jojo, and it pretty much inspired the later's early art style. So probably not ancient and obscure enough.
@@Leonlion0305 I watched uh… part of it… I think I got sidetracked after discovering Katanagatari around the same time 😅 and never quite got back to it. It’s worth a watch for the solid story and the well-animated big fights; just go in knowing that if you see default thugs, you’ll probably see them go down with the same animations you saw the last time Kenshiro ran into default thugs 🤣 the thugs aren’t dangerous enough to be worth extra animations 90% of the time anyway. They animate much harder when it counts though, and again the story is pretty solid.

Never watched that one, don’t really know when it was released but I know it’s old and it’s good… most obscure anime I’ve actually seen would probably be Katanagatari, which isn’t THAT obscure honestly.

That's great they had a girls night get together, binging Gurren Lagann. And not just Bae, but IRyS too finally watched it after all this time! Glad they enjoyed PEAK 🙌
Having watched the movies again recently for their 15th anniversary, it occurs to me that the movies are pretty terrible for exposition. They're a great refresher for those who watched the series with a spectacle of final battles in each, but the setup for the anime is already bare bones enough, and the movies shave them down even further. it definitely would've worked better if there were more episodes to meet, set up, and establish all the Dai Gurren-dan like Iraak, Kidd, Zorthy, Jorgun, Balinbow, Leite, Makken, etc. We're really only left to invest in the Black Siblings and the core group.
I say this with love as it remains my all time favorite anime, but i have to acknowledge its flaws. I hope Bae gets around to watching the full anime some day, it's not long at all.

Gurren Lagann, a good anime, watched it at a friend's house when I spent the night many years ago, but I decided long ago that I would never rewatch it, it would always be a one and done anime for me.

Akshually 🤓, gurren lagann is made by the same people that made kill la kill, but at that time they were working in gainax before they split off to form studio trigger. Gainax still exists to make billions from evangelion pachinko machines.
Uno reverse akshually 🤓☝Gainax filed for bankruptcy this year and closed in June. The Gainax trademark and Evangelion IP are now owned by Khara, the studio that produced the Rebuild films.

Watch the peaks of all eras so you can see why the new stuff tries so hard to surpass the past and see what does or doesn't go that next step further.
Plus, a lot of anime references other series in the past, so you can spot the references.

I should give Gurren Lagann another go. I think it's been 8 years since I first tried it and I didn't like it lol. I think I'll enjoy more since I've learned to appreciate the small things but maybe I might hate it more LOL.

It's a one season anime. I think it might even be a half season... well when seasons were 22/24 episodes rather than the 11-13 season/courses we get now.

Her "logistics" issue is preventing her for from working until she gets home.
Not able to stream or tweet, most likely a work visa issue so she cannot legally do anything that could be considered work while still in Japan.
