      superwildejellyfish so I’m 15 right? I decide to watch this movie cause it looks freaky. I’m into film btw, aware of Gaspar Noe. I had to pause this shit like 5 times, because it was such a disturbing watch, that i almost shut it off. I loved it and hated it at the same time

    • @superwildejellyfish

      Aryavir Sangwan That last part you mentioned, that was exactly my experience with it. I loved and hated it at the same time when I first watched it on midnight at 16 years old. When I say hated, I mean I hated it in the sense that it fucked me up that night, I thought the movie was brilliant, I liked how disturbing it was but it really got under my skin. In a good way, but it emotionally wrecked me.
      Also, I watched the whole thing in one sitting. I’d advise that if you feel like you need a break, TAKE IT, I didn’t cause I thought I was resilient, but the lack of breaks did not help, especially when I had to go to sleep a few minutes after watching it.

      I agree, they say kubrick films are cold but I actually think at the heart of his films is the want for the audience to be more reflective and try to be more conscious about the decisions they make in life. I find gaspers films kind of empty lacking a root. He mainly wants to shock audiences and I sometimes get the feeling I'm watching an extreme arthouse equivalent of transformers. Having said that there is a certain creativity on a technical level.

      Still, I've had A24 on my radar for awhile, so I'm not that bothered by people being interested because of the connections. After all, their films are at the very least, mostly unconventional, so I'm usually intrigued by what they have to offer.

    • @jonathanlorenzo4211
      @jonathanlorenzo4211 6 месяцев назад

      @ratking7523yeah! So it depends on what kind of exposure you’re doing. If you’re targeting panic or physical symptoms of anxiety specifically, parts of this movie can be used to create the sensations but show you that you’re still safe. At the end of the day, it’s a movie. Even if you experience the feelings, you aren’t in danger. Over time, that’s one of the main goals of exposure. You can also process the thoughts and emotions involved with watching that particular scene that might be driving the anxiety, if it’s not just physical sensations you’re trying to address. Again (for anyone reading this) please do not do this on your own. It’s a very structured process and takes a lot of planning with someone trained to guide you through it. And this would be a very intense movie to use for exposure imo haha. It could be used though for sure. I hope that answered your question!

    Just watched this. Even if you don’t like it this film is just *interesting*. The extremely long takes and smooth but at the same time sickening camera work, most of which are IMPROVISED by people who are NOT ACTORS. Longest one-take shot is 42 minutes. Filmed in 15 days with no script. This is one of the best movies that give you that unsettling feeling in your gut that leaves you feeling depressed and drained afterwards.
