FAITH NO MORE - MIDLIFE CRISIS
Can you please react to Alter Bridge - Words Darker Than Their Wings live at the royal Albert hall or Alter Bridge - Watch Over you live at Billboard? Alter Bridge is an amazing but an underrated band. Their singer Myles Kennedy is really awesome, has been voted as vocalist of the year for 3 consecutive years topping amazing vocalists like Chester Bennington from Linkin Park and Corey Taylor from Slipknot. Please do one of above reactions! 😊❤️🙏
If you are looking for more Pantera try Walk, Cowboys From Hell, This Love and Primal Concrete Sledge. For more thrash style metal Sepultura "Bloody Roots" is amazing. Megadeth "Holy Wars.....the Punishment Due" is great. If you wanna go into speed Metal check out Slayer "Raining Blood" or "War Ensemble". Yeah.
@@phreak811 Indeed 🔊🎸🥁🔊🎸
Metallica S&M album. Any song on it. Metallica and the San Francisco symphony together. My favorite album ever.
I'm amazed how Rex is never given any credit. His groovy bass lines set the tone for Panteras style. The sound of of his bass added the growl and grit. His timing was good and he was great at harmonizing with Phil's vocals. Not taking away from the other band members, but Rex needs some of the love.
DIME said just back me n follow me, REX said no....
Not to mention, literally half of dimebags tone most of the time is actually rex’s bass. The mix of bass and guitar was pretty even so hearing tracks without the bass you can clearly see that rex’s bass was giving dimes guitar some punch and making the link between the guitar and the drums even tighter.
When does a bass player ever get cred in a metal band? lmao. Unless you're Cliff Burton or something. Not to mention the producers never know how to mix bass in the studio, and live it just gets swallowed by the kick drum.
@@Cheeseburgerman23 Rex was well mixed. His bass was the growl and depth in Pantera's sound. Yet he is never mentioned in anything when they talk about the band.
@@billhorrigan4388 Rex is decently audible in the mix, but not that much. It kinda has this treble boost but not much actual bass to the sound, so I can really only hear him on headphones. A bass player I can always hear well is David Ellefson since the Megadeth producers knew how to boost his mid range and low end more. And truth be told, his best bass playing was on Southern trendkill. He is a lot louder and his bass part during the middle solo of Floods is amazing, it’s like a duet with Dime. But when you’re in a band with Dimebag AND Phil Anselmo, you’ll never be in the limelight.
The album version of this song starts very differently, the into is actually very melodic much like the versus with a very haunting guitar solo, it's known as one of their longest songs.
Idk why almost none of the reactors react to the audio version. It’s far better.
@@2nerC9
Because funny jumping around head banging… duh 🙄
Yeah, I don’t really know, the music vid skips like one and a half minutes.
This! :) The whole song, in it's proper entirety and arrangement, is way superior... a masterpiece!!!
@@2nerC9 Well it's not that hard to figure out honestly...the people that request it usually don't bother to tell them beforehand. And some reactions they do will get feedback that they should have listened to the straight audio, while others get feedback saying they wanted them to see the music video. So without any specific direction, there doesn't seem to be more incentive on what video to choose other than whatever has the most views.
I also would like to know who cheated her out of the album version
Phils range is amazing. His speaking voice is actually very deep.
Subterranean Mantle Deep.
His voice was great in 89. Now, not so much.
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 scour 😁
@@dcmastermindfirst9418 Yeah, unfortunately age and years of smoking pretty much wrecked the range he used to have.
His range now isn't that good
Cemetery Gates is so incredible and such a masterpiece that people don't really realize how wildly amazing that was for its time period. It was perfection.
Opera and Classical music have A LOT of influence in metal and its origins, along with Blues
Geoff Tate and David Draiman are 2 of the more Operatic trained vocalists. Halford, Dickinson, and Dio have no training however are 3 over the best voices in metal.
@@jamesestelle7260 Yeah, but the roots of the music itself are very much metal
Indeed Led Zeppelin was influenced by Blue. The Yard birds played with Blue musicians around this time. Led Zeppelin came after the Yard birds.
@@BartdeBoisblanc Zep descended from the Yardbirds. Their original name was The New Yardbirds.
Yeah true one of the very first metal songs, "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath came about because Geezer Butler was trying to play Mars from Gustav Holst's The Planets, Op. 32.
You really need to hear the complete version or a live version - the video version cuts out one of the best parts of the song. Wonderful reaction, Maggie. I saw Pantera live and they were spectacular. Phil’s vocal range is out of the world.
"Phil’s vocal range WAS out of the world." Fixed that for ya
For live versions, its gotta be the 92 video. The sound is unreal.
Was checking comments to see if this was the cheap version. Sadly you answered my question
@@kurtthevillain6012 unfortunately is. I truly wish she’d listen to the long version, or better yet, a live show. I weep for anyone who never saw this band live. One of the best shows I ever saw.
@@siduri9522 I saw them back in 93. In Bielefeld. In a Club called PC69. It doesn´t exist anymore, but man, good times. Just had a flashback.
It is said of Anselmo that back in the day his voice was 'singing, with a little gravel' and now it's 'gravel, with a little singing'.
sad but true.
He destroyed his voice................
@@1982jeepcj8 he also has a degenerative bone disease
James LaBrie was singing, with a little nasal rasp back in the day.
In 1992 Phil and James were incredible, by the mid 90s... not as much, now... not at all
Now he's nasal rasp with a bit of singing
Yea I much preferred this version of Pantera. Honestly, I just much prefer this style of heavy metal singer. The ones who sing, but can scream, instead of the ones who just full on scream all the time.
Vibrato and operatic vocals are definitely common in metal, especially in the 80s and 90s.
Thank you for your comment. Did you enjoy my latest reaction video to Metallica?
It's fair to say that any member in this band is a master of their craft.
I got to see Pantera in concert in the late 90's and it was one of my favorites! Their energy and sound was epic🔥🎸 R.I.P. Dime & Vinnie ❤

I saw them about half a dozen times. They were freaking amzing.
I saw them 3 or 4 times. Maybe the best concert I ever saw was White Zombie, Pantera and Megadeth. Was planning on meeting my friend in Flint, MI on Friday to see damage plan but he called me on Thursday and told me what happened. Instead I was in the parking lot of The Machine Shop attending a candlelight vigil.
@Cheese-Hound That hits hard! When I saw them, RATM opened for them in a small venue. Another favorite concert for me was Korn and White Zombie! 🤟
Phil had a comment, along the lines of, when discussing those high notes, "that kind of vocals is a young man's game."
Their cover of "Planet Caravan" (originally Black Sabbath) is just pure awesomeness, and their song "Floods" has the most epic guitar solo and outro ever
As a lifelong fan of Sabbath, I endorse this wholeheartedly!
I actually disagree. I think the original is much much better. But I applaud Pantera for giving it a go since the song itself is so goddamned strange.
YES, Floods!! BUT...not the live version so many reactors watch, Phil was deep into drugs and it sounded very muddy and lost a lot of the amazing nuances that you can hear in the studio version. Also, not the "studio" version with the most views, because that has a number of audio glitches, and they completely remove you from the feeling of the song. Instead I highly recommend a lyric version, because most people can't understand what Phil was singing anyway. Floods is by far one of my favorite Pantera songs, hands down. The solo and outro are amazing.
@@primalmojo9599 YES THIS RIGHT HERE
So I saw them live at Red Rocks. This was their last song of the night. Absolutely amazing….
Rex Brown never get the recognition he deserves. Dude does back-up vocals and keeping up with Dime on guitar.
Rex is the man, did some great work on Jerry Cantrell’s album boggy depot as well.
For Phil to hit a G5 is absolutely insane! 💯
Pantera RULES! Maggie the Metal Head, It has a nice ring to it. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
So glad you enjoyed! See you tomorrow! 🎸😊💖
Maggie's metal Mondays.. could be a thing haha
Saw Pantera back in '96 at the peak of their career. Met Dime that night. Changed my life.
Dime's best friend was Zakk Wylde of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society fame. He wrote a touching song to commemorate his best friend called "In This River". I would highly recommend checking that song out as Zakk is also one of the greatest guitar players to ever live.
I love that you did Pantera! this band dominated my early teens
You're *Stuck* now!!
You have to do more Pantera!
You have to see the video from them playing *'Domination'* 'Live In Moscow' right after the Iron Curtain was (supposedly) ripped down. The crowd was estimated at 2 Million+!
Bringing Texas Grunge Metal to the USSR. TWO GUITAR SOLOS, that were ABSOLUTELY EPIC!!!

The very idea of Pantera being glam is just hysterical to me...
Dimebag was one of the most amazing guitarists out there. He was banned from competing in guitar contests in Texas because he won too many times.
They made him the judge.
as a young child, you forgot to mention
At 14 yrs old they made him a judge. He couldn’t be beat.
Wow! I didn't know that about Dimebag winning so much he couldn't compete anymore. Awesome
@@terrywright4724 They made him be a judge instead
I grew up listening to Pantera (one of my all-time favorite bands). This song has always just been a good song with little meaning to me until about 5 years ago when I lost my wife to cancer. Now, I live these lyrics every day of my life. I get choked up every time I hear. Awesome review of one of the best bands ever.
PANTERA WAS THE METAL OF 90S. I SAW THEM HERE IN CHILE 1998. ;)
Thank you for your comment. Did you enjoy my latest reaction video to Metallica?
I love how the various forms of Metal have preserved the role of lead guitar when New Wave subordinated the guitar to just rhythm and sometimes drooped it altogether in favor of something electronic. There was a saying in New Wave that a guitar solo was one note. Yet Metal in its many incarnations is still alive and well and using power guitar runs while New Wave has faded into the mists of nostalgia.
I LOVED your reaction. This is the kind of thing that grabbed me into the Magical Queendom of Maggieland way back last summer. Good editing too. 🎸
So glad you enjoyed! See you tomorrow! 🎸😊💖
Pantera was such an iconic band. They are a go to on a bad day. Wonderful reactions to these guys.
Was buried with Eddie Van Halen's guitar that is in/used on Van Halen II. Dude was a LEGEND.
This song is an anthem of Metal Pantera was is and will be one of the best and most influential Bands. All its rich history is PURE GOLD. That went from the transition from the glitter of Glam Metal to a much more aggressive Metal... 🤘
RIP Vinnie and Dime.....I was fortunate to see Pantera MANY MANY times. They were so awesomely talented and fun. Ok, 50 & 60 year old women like me, lets just let these little girls know how freaking HOT Phil was!!!!!!!????? Oh my Loooooord. Maggie, I am thrilled you liked this one. You are a good Chicklet!
LOL! Thank you for your lovely comment. Hope to see you TONIGHT at my LIVE stream?
Hell yeah!! Very enjoyable. 😉😉 L
Phil has SUCH a dynamic voice and Rex's grooves have always set the mood for Pantera's songs. Had the pleasure of seeing them twice in concert and they were monsters on stage both times. In addition to their power musically, many of their song lyrics are far deeper than their sound suggests. It was always a pleasure in the pre-widespread internet says to try and decipher lyrics and then comparing them to the lyric book you got with the tape/CD.
I was privileged enough to see them live over 20 times. Met and partied with them more than once.
Yeah very interesting.. get a life

Phil is a natural amazing vocalist! His range is insane! One of the best metal vocalists and frontman ever! 😎🤘🔥👊🔥🖤🔥🤩
1.... My favorite band of all time and saw them a million times... Even during there GLAM years. Rip Abbot Bros
Phil is a fully trained power metal vocalist. The band changed from power metal to the form they are more known for in 1990 with the release of Cowboys From Hell album, Vulgar Display Of Power the next album was more groove based and subsequent albums got heavier with the core groove base still intact.
The term power metal is actually misleading. His first album with Pantera was called Power Metal, but the band had distinctively been doing music influenced by Van Halen, KISS, and Judas Priest, and Phil's vocals weren't quite as mythical as power metal, being more focused on party-time glam-metalling delivery. A lot more husky rasp and sporadic squealing, as opposed to full-on operatic delivery. Going into groove metal and death metal was a huge decision for Pantera to make, but their later era was great. The Terry Glaze period's influence wasn't very persistent in their sound. 🙂😌
Thank you for your comment. Did you enjoy my latest reaction video to Metallica?
😢no he's not trained he just had natural talent and has lost his range. But this remains one of my favorite songs ever
Got my jaw dislocated in the pit at this concert lol... Such a good time!
Pantera is from my town. Arlington/Fort Worth Texas

This is a great song to start off with.
So good! Yeah
I've commented many times that a vocal coach/singer who reacts hasn't earned their stripes until they react to this song. The reason being that Phil's vocals are at times soft, graveling, belting, and of course the note duel with the guitar at the end is something in and of itself. ~Be Blessed
