When we were young the was a such an excitement when we saw Freddy come on a tv show or about to be interviewed, as you just knew mayhem and laughs would follow any second. His refusal to change his style of act that saw him shunned in the end comes with mixed blessings. Freddy stood his ground and lost out, but he didn't lose his integrity and we will love him for his style of comedy that still makes us giggle, and god willing will continue to forever.
Freddie star was Britain's greatest ever comic genius... And boy could he sing.. Especially elvis songs.. Wonderful entertainer... R. I. P. Freddie....
Freddie 🌟 had a broken down old car placed on the road outside his house. He stopped a passing driver and asked him if he could help give him a push? The driver said "of course" Freddie then led the guy into his back garden and then sat on a swing. (True story) 👍
Many comic greats had tragic endings and Freddie was no exception. The late great Spike Milligan also had a particular brand of comedy and very zany sense of humour.I must have seen this sketch when first broadcast but still laughed out loud. So many comics i miss but that is a price for getting older.
Freddie held the record at one time for the fastest purchase of a Rolls Royce . He went into a showroom ( H A Fox ) in Torquay where i live , bought , insured and taxed the car , and drove away in under one hour . The Rolls was powder blue .
One of my favourite, if not my favourite comedians and entertainers of all time!! I was fortunate to see him live and talk to him in Blackpool. Will never be anyone as great! RIP
Freddie Starr was a great entertainer indeed,he wasn't really rude or over the top...just a good laugh. He also was a great singer, not many like him back in the day. He could come back even today without offending people,he wasn't savage just poking fun, amusing people & really getting close to the line without going "Oooh" or "Sheesh" Giggles & laughs that man non stop.
He used to ring my wife at all times of the night 40 odd years ago. He was usually on a high after a performance, but on other occasions when he was at home and rang during the day he suffered from depression, often saying that he didn't really want to go on stage that night. He was a man with conflicting personalities who just wanted to talk to someone and my wife fitted the bill. People only saw the stage Freddie and thought he was a barrel of laughs all the time, but like all comic geniuses he had his own internal torrments.
He was brilliant luckily I been to a live show. Can you have a look at a brilliant comedian Jethro who sadly passed away with Covid 2 years ago. He had his of Cabaret club which regularly performed at and recorded but he also appeared on TV He was from Cornwall in the West of England and has a very strong Cornish ascent Enjoy
Saw Freddie playing in a celebrity charity football match once. While all the other players were down at one end fighting over the ball, he was down the opponents end with several balls kicking them all into the goal. The crowd loved it. He was such a clown .
Freddie was my dadʼs favourite comic, maʼs too. They used to go see his show every summer at Great Yarmouth. My dad told me, “I've seen most of the big names of comedy and not one of them could hold a candle to Freddie. He is the best bar none.” So glad my dad got to see Freddie just before he passed back in 1995. R.I.P dad 🙏🏻 R.I.P Freddie 🙏🏻
M, Y father in law ,whose passed now, worked with Freddie in a shipyard where Freddie was an apprentice ship right. He used to laugh even thinking about the times they worked togetge r,but Freddie was a naughty boy then,he would often disappear after lunch, because even then, people booked him for shows.did meet him once briefly and Tommy cooper very funny, believe me,from a city full of comedians .he was really good,.
A lot of his material would never be broadcast in the US, as the TV Censors would consider it too crude. They consider themselves and their audiences very prudish. Just about the only US Comedian to cover a similar style of jokes is Mel Brookes, and he struggled to get many of his "Blazing Saddles" scenes past the Hollywood Executives.
Respect to Freddie, he was from my home city of Liverpool. The things that he done was unheared of at the time, he definitely pushed things. Yet, in his later years, showbiz ignored him. He died a lonely man with just his cat for company.
My mum used to love him & I don't know of anyone who could look at his stuff and not find it hilarious. His humour was so wacky and unpredictable. His status was ironically massively boosted when a Tabloid paper over here ran with the headline 'Freddie Starr ate my Hamster'. The story being that when round a friends house, there was nothing to eat so Freddie grabbed their Hamster, stuck it between 2 bits of bread and ate it! It was a complete fabrication but many believed it because of how wacky he was! Thanks for another great reaction!
One of Freddy's greatest tricks was making his audience fill in the blanks and tell themselves the joke. Like in this one when he does the " White man says peace on...Indian man says....." The audience automatically fills in the "peace off" for themselves and it just makes the joke even funnier. So many people dont find him funny, or even just annoying, but when you understand his humour you realise the man was a genius of comedy.
Great reaction EB 👍 I thought he was going to be like an Indian Indian from India and not a Native American Indian, but there were times when he was kinda chanting that he sounded like a real Native American Indian, that's crazy 😂
I worked with Freddie a few times, he was a great entertainer, i remember doing some wonderful sketches with him and some wonderful Duo's. RIP Freddie, I miss you brother.
I have noticed that virtually all comedians these days are introduced on TV "Ladies and gentlemen please welcome the comedian xxxxxx" If you weren't told they were comedians you would never have guessed it as they rely totally on canned laughter ! Can't imagine any comic prior to the last 30 years being introduced as "the comedian xxxx" because you knew within seconds that was the case.
I was lucky enough to have met Freddie star as a young man he was heavily involved with amateur boxing his club was pinewood star amateur boxing club all the lads wanted to box at their boxing shows they were in a club called blazers he had the look of super star about him and was very humble and encouraged all the young lads 😎👍
Freddy was a comic genius every time l seen Freddy l would cry with laughter he brought so much joy and happiness to peoples lives throughout the years R.I.P Freddy
Interesting to see an American’s take on Freddie Starr. I grew up with Freddie Starr, loved him and his comedy. I always thought it wouldn’t translate somehow. Glad it did. 😄
Freddie Star coming on the telly was brilliantly exciting when I was a kid the hole family used to fall around laughing at him. He was one of the best no doubt at all.
Freddie was the greatest at comedy saw him many times with my parents once he introduced the singer Lynn Paul she started to sing a love song and Freddie started swinging in the background on a rope dressed as Tarzan ! You never wore mascara if you was seeing Freddie at Bournemouth winter Gardens
Love the stopping of the drums and restarting with Freddie’s hand signals😂, I have watched this many times but still so funny to watch again. 😂 who else is tapping along to the drums? Or is it just me 😳😂
he was an amazing singer too. he turned down the role for the elvis movie as he loved elvis so much he didnt want to do it an injustice. Kurt russel played the role in the end. he has a youtube video where he sang with the jordanaires ( iv probably spelt that wrong ).
Many people forget that comedy in the 70's here in the UK was very different to what it is now. Political correctness didn't really exist back then the way it does now. Comedians such as Bernard Manning, Freddie (being the case here) and many others wouldn't see the light of day now as the landscape has changed that much. Whilst it may not be a popular thing to say - racism was more prevalent back in the 60's & 70's and people's attitudes were SO much different to modern times - obviously a change for the better - however, a lot of comedians from that time simply could not or would not change their act to accommodate the change in view and died the death - slipping into obscurity once and for all.
I miss freddy he was a one off and a great entertainer and had a great talent
True. He also had a great singing voice and was a superb mimic and impersonator.
hes on ustream still doing it.
On his day, and he had a fair few, a real comic genius of the old school, love him ❤
Absolutely, Freddie was also unpredictabily funny 😂

Are you on glue? Go look it up. He was a 1 trick pony, never changed his act and wasn't respected among his peers
he isnt dead
well he is now, thewy buried him in liverpool. @@jediknight2350
@@jediknight23502019 he passed in Spain. He’s definitely dead. But he will always be alive thanks to modern technology and RUclips 😊

In his prime Freddy was the top all round comic/entertainer in the UK . He also did a mean impression of the king Elvis .
Freddie held the record at one time for the fastest purchase of a Rolls Royce . He went into a showroom ( H A Fox ) in Torquay where i live , bought , insured and taxed the car , and drove away in under one hour . The Rolls was powder blue .

Great reaction, Beard! I was laughing along with you at exactly the same bits. Great to see some Freddie again.
This is the sort of thing, I grew up on. Freddie star, les Dawson to name but a few.
And I truly miss!

This was when humour AND comedy was genuinely funny. We still have the BEST comedy in the world.

Freddie Starr was the best of all time fantastic comic and the best one to take Elvis Presley off.👍
I agree. He was a superb impersonator and because of his great voice, his 'Roy Orbison', and 'Johnny Cash' were brilliant as well.
M, Y father in law ,whose passed now, worked with Freddie in a shipyard where Freddie was an apprentice ship right. He used to laugh even thinking about the times they worked togetge

He certainly wasn’t PC but boy Freddie was so funny, his sound effects were all brilliant🤣too much PC about nowadays.
PC didn't exist when he was about. Times were different back then, far better than now.
True. Things are far too serious now and everyone takes themselves too serious. Political correctness ruined comedy in Britain.
I hope you watch some more of him, he was one of the best in the uk

Hi , gtreetings from Yorkshire .... loved this , Freddie was an amazing man ... and i liked his singing ... Cheers Si 🤣😂😛🙃
You close with "Peace"
Indian say, "Peace .... "
You left yourself wide open for that one.

Freddie Star was a comedian in Liverpool when the Beatles were starting out and claimed that Ringo Star took his name from him.
Alan have you seen Freddie do Mick Jagger?
Hi Beard. Have you checked out his interview on the Parkinson Show when he pranks Mohammed Ali who's the primary guest? Freddie has nerves of steel. x
he was an amazing singer too. he turned down the role for the elvis movie as he loved elvis so much he didnt want to do it an injustice. Kurt russel played the role in the end. he has a youtube video where he sang with the jordanaires ( iv probably spelt that wrong ).
Have you seen the one, hosted by Michael Parkinson with Muhammad Ali. He comes out with some eerie story that makes Ali jump!
I went to see him at the Davenport theater years ago he slashed the curtains and pisst on the stage 😂😂
