Oh Ana I hate to hear that it happened, but your cuttings are beautiful! Thanks for videoing I know it’s tempting to not video during frustrating times, but it helps us learn and I thank you!!!
I am sorry to that this happened to you (and sorry to hear that it was more than these) Thank you for sharing, it will help others who encounter the same issues you had (and maybe someone will know what the problem with the Villosa/Globulosa and Nova ghost is). Hoping that your cuttings will root quickly and produce new healthy growth 🌱 Purging can take a weight of ones shoulders 😊 Picking a number of plants that is reasonable for you to take care of is a great idea! We all have a number that if we exceed it, plants will become a chore or worse cause burnout, in stead of bringing us enjoyment. I have been slowly rehoming plants lately and am now close to knowing mine 😅
Hi Ana! First off I want to express why I watch you. You are a realist who loves plants and you stay true to yourself and your gut feelings. I engage with content creators who have your same qualities. I learn from you in good times and bad and I am able to take away from your content and absorb your fun humor always! I only have 6 Hoyas in my life and don’t laugh, I have no idea what they are or what I am supposed to do with them! Lmfao 🤪 I bought them from a local nursery because they were on sale and they had no tags for id, only the price tag lol But 4:22 none of them are any that you have! Damn it! Anyway, I can appreciate your struggle and your willingness to succeed and your feelings of being overwhelmed. I know that once you have cataloged and regroup you are going to feel better about yourself and your plants! You’re right about there are never enough hours in the day to complete anything! Please don’t stress about that because whether it’s plants or farms or family, there’s just never enough hours, we just have to keep on keeping on girl! I can’t wait for your fun and spooky 👻 Halloween 🎃 stuff! I’m so down for that shit! Lots of love ❤️ Ginger
LOL Ginger, you crack me up. I love your comments! thank you, they make me feel better. thank you for sticking around and yes Halloween content comin up soon! (maybe 2 videos next week?? 🤫) much love! 💖
Ive been cataloging my collection since l started collecting and it brings me joy lol. At one point my OG spreadsheet got deleted...so i rebuilt it, totally worth it!
So sorry this happened, I know it can be disappointing to lose plants but it happens to all of us and we can only do the best we can and even then, some still bite the dust. Chin up girlie, you have some beautiful plants!!😊😊And by the way, sometimes it is good to do a purge to get a better handle on our plants. I am in the process of purging too!!
Hi Ana. Your channel was in my recommended and I'm so glad it was so I subscribed last week. I was sitting here brooding over the hoyas that died recently. Some had continuous mealies, some root rot and some who knows. I just turned on RUclips and there you were with several of your hoya troubles. I was getting a bit down and wondering if I should shuck all 80 hoyas! Yes 90 percent had mealies which took me two days to clean up! I realized taking good cuttings from the plants to save or cutting off roots and starting over should make a different with the ones very affected. I do have wishlist hoyas and look forward to them. Thanks for sharing. That was painful to watch but I say its trial and error with this genus. Dee, NY
welcome Dee! glad you're here. so sorry to hear your hoya are struggling too. I def had my run in with mealies this year but it does get better once treated! it's sometimes good to see others going through the same things 💖
My Cao Bang did the same to me, yellowing leaves, although I had a tiny specimen. I put it outside, and it's grown a few leaves, but I brought it in. We'll see.
Always love your content and honesty. You show your plants as they are and don’t make everything look perfect like a lot of other plant RUclipsrs. I can completely relate to what you said at the end. I purged a lot this year cause I felt the same way, I decided to get rid of everything that wasn’t Hoya lol Hoya bring me the most joy. I realized I was just watering the rest and they really didn’t bring me joy anymore. It felt so good to purge everything else and just really concentrate on my Hoya. Not saying you should stick with one genus only but really just keeping what really makes you happy. I actually enjoy watering day now, am keeping up with pest management etc. it’s overall so much better and I’ve fell back in love with the plant hobby again! I wish you the best and highly recommend you do the purge sooner than later I think it’ll really help your mood. Best wishes! 🌺🪴 -Chey
thank you for that comment Chey! I'm so glad you were able to find your love for the hobby again. I will definitely find time to make the purge happen sooner 💚
I love this Hoya Vilosa Cao Dang. And it’s fuzzy. Usually when leaves easily drop off could be over watering in my experiences. Hoya also can get fungal issues too which i come across when i purchase online from a nursery growers. You can use fungal treatments which helped me and doesn’t affect the new growth in early stage. I finally got my wishlist Hoya Gunung Gading it is a hard find. Lovely when is sun stressed. Unfortunately mine arrived with some fungal leaves so I treated it and is ok now did lose 3 leaves the 1st week on the new growth which can happen during transit. I grow my Hoya’s in soil. I treat them like succulents in watering. What helped me with mealy’s is using preventative treatments every month. I use neem oil mix with lemon dish soap and water that is my remedy.
My Cao Bang had the same brown patches and brittle leaves and found out it was flat mites by looking at it with a microscope. Sprayed with a sulphur mix and restarted with some cuttings. The original plant didn't end up recovering but the cuttings did take. While it was pretty depressing to find these pests, I am glad that I still have this hoya and she's doing well now. Hopefully this information can help anyone struggling with similar issues on their hoyas
Ah, what a shame that you've got quite a few hoyas with issues! I hope the rest of your collection will remain OK! Doing a plant purge and cataloging every plant sounds like a great idea! 😀I have them all on a google sheet and add them to it whenever I buy / get a new one. I am a spreadsheet nerd though 🤭It keeps things into perspective from me and also prevents me from going overboard!
Thanks for showing a video like this! I love the gunung gadang, such a fabulous hoya. I love mine so very much!! Good luck on those. It is hard one goes downhill quickly. I just had to toss my Lacunosa Souma last week.
If i was you i would put it in some chunky mix and lightly water every other day till things change with it also i would use bottled water and sit it next to the window of course not burning close but close enough.
For your Hoya globulosa (Cao Bang), fka villosa (Cao Bang): you have to go as dry on that plant as you can dare yourself. Otherwise, I don't know how you'll keep it happy. I have this plant and love it so very much. This may not be the issue with yours, but I thought I'd mention it. As always, great to see your content come up. Which is a dick thing to say, considering 😆
oooh it was villosa, okay thank you I had them reversed. I need you to set me straight! lol and thank you for the care tips, I'll keep that in mind when I pot up the props. lol that's the way things go, likewise! 🤗
I grow all my Hoyas in chunky soil mix and a terracotta pot. I don’t trust any other substrate because those roots love to dry out completely before the next watering. If the roots are weak they are much more prone to pests and disease.
I’m having trouble with my Hoya polyneura too. It keeps having leaves that turn yellow and fall off. I have treated for mealies, and today a pesticidal soap. I’m hoping that helps.
Hello, OMG! Hoya Globulosa is the most unpredictable, difficult plant I have. It starts new growth then it turn yellow. It's always doing something. A new growth then the tip fall off, new growth & then just stop, new growth grows then turn yellow. My plant is beautiful, green ,fuzzy & healthy. I'm at the point I keep it watered & forget about it. Maybe if I ignore it it'll act right. I heard Globulosa is not easy..Thank You
I’m so sorry that has happened to you. I would still try to salvage them instead of tossing, maybe the cuttings will give you new growth that will surprise you with healthy leaves. I would quarantine and treat them just in case, would love to see an update video on these!
It's called rust . It's fungal chop let callous and soak in neem oil. Remember neem is a fungicide as well as pest
Hi! I was trying to learn something from you all. I'm going to try that on my crassipetiolata Splash because I think something is up with it.
thank you!! will try to save my nova ghost now 🫡

good to know fungal issues shouldn't affect early growth. I still have the nova ghost, so I think I'll treat it and try to restart it. thank you! 💚

oh no rip to the souma 🥲
Ana, it broke my heart to see your silver mint coin. I put mine on a trellis after watching you re-trellis yours.
aww that makes me happy but also sad 😭 it's okay, mine will come back. I hope yours will be big and beautiful!

@@anawithplants You were correct, it's just been reclassified. Next year everything will just be verticillata and it'll be easy to keep up with 😆
ooohh noooooo
hopefully they can recover
My nova ghost also got the same problem . I cut all the problem leaves and isolated her. I put her in a warmer spot. So far so good for me.
hmm playing around with temp, good idea!

that's a good point since hoyas are epiphytes. I'll prob stay away from self-watering set ups in the future
@@anawithplants yes! I would highly recommend!! I have over 60 very happy thriving Hoyas in this setup

good to know! never heard they were difficult until now
I listen to Doug of Vermont who is well known for Hoyas. He did a spotlight on this Hoya Globulosa & geesh was he right
It sure has pretty veiny leaves. 😊
I see villosa/globulosa printed on tags all the time. Like it’s all one plant.
where can i get those propagation test tuby things from??
here you go! www.amazon.com/Floral-Flower-Arrangements-Royal-Imports/dp/B01FIFCDGK/
God afternoon Ana!😊
good morning Lisa! 🤗
Where do you get the vials you use?
here you go!

Seeing the second Hoya, I still say fungal.
yes this is the consensus! 👍
Have you ever shared what you feel use in your nutrient rich cocktail? I’d be interested in knowing.
I do have an older video on my nutrient solution! I've actually just ordered new things to try so I will make a new one in the future 🙂
or maybe it could be the mix that it in?
made new soil, or maybe need more humidity or light
I would at least an anti fungal to see if that helps
Why not repot the gunung gading?
you know... in hindsight, this would be the most logical approach. unfortunately, I was in a propping mood... not a repotting mood 😂 whoops
