    I feel like the person that left you the hate comment on the plant addiction video is the type of person that doesn’t want to deal with the discomfort of self reflection; they would rather just take the shortcut approach of writing your video off as a personal attack because it hit too close to home for some insecurity they are dealing with. I like that you keep it real and say things that inspire us to reflect, rather than just putting out fluff to keep everyone happy 😊

    I heard a podcaster once say something along the lines of “I’m a ship builder.” The idea was that creators build the ship and put it out there and it’s up to the consumer to decide how they feel about the ship, but the creator can’t spend energy overthinking how it gets accepted because they wouldn’t have space to build more ships. His point was that creators have to focus more on building the ship the way they want to build it and let the right market find them. Hope you keep building more ships Ana! 😊

      @anawithplants  3 дня назад +1

      loooove this analogy! like it's totally out of our hands if people decide to get on the ship or they may not stay and get off, but that's not the point of it. the creation is the point. love it! thank you for sharing 🤗💞

    I love long plant chore videos! I think the second camera would be a nice touch but the way you film now is close up enough I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. It sucks that Jack and other creators feel they have to water down their content. That is the point of RUclips is to follow people because you like their personality and their opinions. I love plant chores! You are so right - I love to watch plant chores from creators I know I love and am familiar with. If it’s a new creator to me I like to watch the plant tours first to see if I even like their vibe and how their plants look. I also like to see plant hauls and collection updates so I can keep up on what’s relevant in the plant world. I guess I like a variety of all that. But I don’t tend to find basic plant care videos interesting anymore unless I’m looking for something specific I need help with.

    Critical people are so draining. Ignoring these unhappy types is the only thing to do. We are allowed to express our feelings and if someone doesn’t like it then , so what! If I don’t like what someone is saying, I just remove myself, move on and don’t feel I have to offend them by attacking their actions. Live and let live. I wish our society would remember this little courtesy. You are wonderful, keep up showing us your personality 😊

    👮🏼🚨🚓😂 You’re not the plant police. Geez, I didn’t see that comment you’re referring to. 😮 I enjoy plant chore videos because it does feel like you’re catching up with a friend. People can and will take things out of context and there’s nothing we can do about it. Quite honestly, I like the big box store videos but I only watch a few content creators that do it. There’s one that goes waaay overboard. I always go through the plant section at Lowe’s, HD, Walmart or 🎯because uncommon plants are being released and they are now affordable. Do I always come home with a plant, nope. About 80% of the time I don’t. I did get a plant last week at HD because I’ve had an occasional mealybug show up uninvited and I needed some insecticide! They had some Epipremnum aureum Shangri La. (it’s been on my wishlist) I am currently on the hunt for a Jessenia. Oh!! I did order some pots from the place you mentioned. Thank you so much for sharing your source! ❤

      I guess I live under a rock or I’m always doing plant stuff that I miss things. I was very surprised about the whole thing, I was being the fly on the wall at that point.

      and yeah, it's a pretty contentious subject so I'll hold off sharing my entire opinion.
      but what I will say, if the original plant material came from someone else but you were the one who put in the work and bred with it to create something else, then that final product is still yours. think about it like an essay. people use outside sources to create an essay. that final essay is yours to credit, but you still need to cite your sources, you know?

    Hi Ana~ Just curious. For the new substrate you are trying out, are you keeping the plants in ambient or 100% humidity? I’m always open to mixing up different substrates to compare, but I have all my plants in ambient and am concerned that it would dry out too quickly as I am a serial underwaterer.

    • @anawithplants
      @anawithplants  21 час назад

      I have plants in the new mix in both ambient and high humidity! the ambient ones you do have to water about once a week (for my conditions). the moss does a really good job at keeping in moisture, so I don't find this dries out fast on me.

    I remember writing a long comment on the plant addiction vid.. but like sometimes happens recently it seems to have disappeared?
    Plant bans don’t work, they induce a shopping spree after the ban ends
    Being more thoughtful about bringing new plants in (is there time/energy/proper space/does it add something new etc) helps a lot more
    Sorry to hear you received a hate comment on that vid…
    I hope you will keep making content on the subject 🩷
    (For some people all plants they see make them feel something 😅)
    This year I don’t think I will buy many plants this year…
    I want to have 20-25 species of plants less by the end of this year
    So buying a new one will mean Ill have to pick yet another one that has to go
    Those “new” plants that I see become a lot less interesting if it means having to let go of one that I already have and like (all of it, not keep a second plant/cutting/propagation or something of the sort), they really have to add something to the rest in order for me to still get them

    • @anawithplants
      @anawithplants  3 дня назад

      right?! threw me for a loop lol. I would hesitate to recommend it for self-watering just because 2 out 3 components are organic (and organic has a higher risk of rot). not to mention, the moss strands will get soaked. maybe if you try it with the finer moss petals it could work... 🤔
      now I'm tempted to try it out as an experiment!

      @tailira4536 thank you. I do the same but last night I dug up like 20 corns. Can I store them somehow or do I need to get them cooking right away?

      I recommend keeping them in a container with just a little bit of water, just to make sure they don’t dry out completely.

      I had one that dried up completely and later grew. You can hold out a few corms keep in a sealed container (when dry) and experiment with it. I’ve always wondered the same thing. I’ve never gotten that many corms but I do have quite a few growing so next batch I’ll give it a shot too!

    The larger your channel gets, the more unhappy souls it's going to find. Imagine how dissatisfied the person who left you that comment is with her own life. That would suck, and it (usually) gives me empathy for someone like that.
    As for being the plant police: terrible job 🤣 I've been buying orchids and loving every second of it.
    The fancy carbon filter and air systems are for felonious growers. I use just a fan for circulation. Once in a blue moon (winter) I'll open up the tent for a day. On watering day (summer-type weather) I do it then, about once a week.
    I despise two camera angles for some reason. It seems to put a barrier between you and us. But, hey. I know nothing about anything, really 😁
    Do not underestimate the power of "how to" videos. Tutorials are what people still crave, even very experienced people will reach out to let you know they learned something new. Ok, this is the one thing I might know something about 😆
    You already know this, of course, but to keep RUclips fun, you've got to do what interests you. Imagine being locked into being a "go shopping for plants" channel, and then when you do actual plant-related content, barely anyone shows up to watch. Personally, I'd quit. And it would hurt my feelings a little -- no easy task 🤣
    Great vid, Ana. Be well.

      why must you always be so wise Dave! and agreed, you should love every second of it. 🙂
      okay good to know about the carbon filter. I thought so but needed confirmation.
      lol I can see how it would make the video seem more like a production, which gives it a less personal touch. enough people have voiced they'd like to see it, so I think I'll try it out for one video. but if the reaction is lukewarm or I hate editing that video, I won't keep doing it.
      you're right again, YT is the go-to place for tutorials. I just feel like most of my viewers know as much if not more than me, but that's probably just me being critical? 😅
