Well done to you guys on an amazing garden. I was wondering what type of bulk soil blend I would need to make my own dome at home to grow the aroids in the ground.
AMAZING!! Thank you so much :)
Incredible - well done to the crew that make it look sooo amazing‼️ Thanks Jan 👏👏👏 I can’t say I’ve ever thought of going to a botanical garden when I’ve been travelling to offer my opinion of my favourite 🫣🫣
I’m never getting over “We need future generations but… why do they have to be so loud?” 😂🤣 Need this on a teeshirt 😅
AMEN!!!!!🎉❤🎉❤
I actually guffawed
I was thinking it before it was spoken. Nearly choked on my coffee when I heard it 😂😂
I really enjoy when you get out and show us places around Australia, this is the closest some of us get to seeing your beautiful country. I also loved when you chatted to us about trying to buy your own property, i loved hearing your dreams about what you want to do to make it a home, I would love to watch you on that journey, I hope in the near future that happens for you.
Thank you so much :) appreciate it !
My pug loves watching your videos. He even recognizes your voice and comes running to my desk when he hears you. And also the opening with Brad's collar bells makes him goes nut.
Omg that’s too cute !! I actually was planning on changing the into but can’t do that now 🥹🥹
That's so cute! And my cat Fritz does the same! He watches for the rare Bradly sightings! 😻
I have a pug too! He also barks at the bells 😂
OMG the kids screaming had my eyes twitching. Thank you for another amazing field trip! My favorite botanical gardens here in MN, USA are: Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. They incorporate art in certain areas and educational areas with native plants and bees, and Como Park Zoo & Conservatory - it's free, though you can donate any amount. They host events, music, weddings, and you can buy plants there!
So interesting touring a space like this with someone who has a vast knowledge and appreciation for the different varieties. Hearing your perspective is not only fun but also educational. I appreciate the effort you put into these videos and hope you continue to learn and capture your own curiosity to share with us.
Thank you :) in the grand scheme of things I know very little, especially when compared to the horticulturalists & botanists that work there ... BUT I think that makes it relatable to the 'average' plant grower :)
Thank you so much for this! I REALLY enjoyed it. I grew up in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We have a conservatory that opened in 1969 on top of 'Little Mountain'. Played up there a lot as a kid. When my twin bro and I were 10/11 years old (I'll be 66yrs old this year) we'd walk the 3 or 4 miles and occasionally able to sneak in the back door to the conservatory. There was a fee to get in, so that was our only option. 😉 😁 We were well-behaved, though, so we wouldn't draw attention and get kicked out. I LOVED being in the jungle setting! 😍 By the time I was 12 yrs. old I bought my first plant, and 16 yrs old my side of the bedroom I shared with my sister, was a jungle. I've been growing plants indoors and outdoors ever since. Now you have me fascinated growing on moss poles, though orchids dominate growing endeavors. Thanks again for bringing up fond memories. 😊
Sounds like great childhood memories 😊
Love, love, LOVE seeing this garden! Thank you for bringing it to us 💚
Thanks for coming along :)
Thanks for taking us along Jan That was an amazing Botanical Gardens I haven’t been to many Botanical Gardens myself but I’m used of seeing the tropical plants because I live in North Queensland. Cairns has a lovely one but much smaller than Brisbane. I especially loved the dome and the bonsai section. Those plants are incredible I’ve never seen a bonsai collection so big and with such mature plants. Imagine all the work that goes into keeping them looking stunning. Really enjoyed that tour. Thanks again.
Thanks for coming along :)
My stingray saw this and just about died with jealousy😂😂😂
That’s funny😂😂
Pretty sure cause of death for 99% of all stingrays is SPIDERMITES :O
I cannot imagine the amount of work that it takes to keep those gardens looking so pristine yet natural
Would be so much work 🙌🙌🙌
bf and I got really excited when we saw this video come into our feed! Such a huge and lush complex ❤
I just had to double back and have another look at the plant with leaves growing into a spiral. Cool!
its some costus species, probably speciosus, vargasii or spiralis
Living in Brisbane, this is a favourite destination for me.
Your ability to recognise plant types is impressive!
Hehe thanks :)
Thx Jan for taking me along on your fun excursion I've had a special place in my heart for green houses since I was a child they sparked my love and appreciation for everything plant and nature your dedication and explanation of plants is to be admired...you're definitely my go to plant guy. 💚🙏
Glad you enjoyed the tour :) thanks !!

Thank you for sharing this ,it's gorgeous to see them all outside of pots just growing free & natural .
Wow wow wow. This place looks incredible.
So amazing to see how some of these little plants we have on a shelf grow naturally
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching :)
Hey Jan! At 11:03 I believe that is an Alocasia New Guinea Gold. They are great growers but need TONs of light to bring the varigation out nicely. I have unfortunately not been able to bring out much in an indoor setting.
Thanks for the great video, this was a fun one to watch!
That makes sense !! Thanks :)
What a lovely video to watch on a very warm Perth afternoon ( with a margarita for company)! Kings Park in the spring is wonderful
🍹enjooy :)
Those blue ferns are so cool! The dome would be such a beautiful experience!
I’ve never been to any botanical gardens however I’m going to start my bucket list with this one! Thank you so much for taking us along. Being from Canada, I’m amazed seeing your plants …everything in the dome was just mind blowing to me. Hope you thoroughly enjoyed your second time in there!
I went back for a third time as well haha :D and I'm sure it won't be my last !
@ I don’t blame you! I would have also! So much to see and experience! So much content for you👍
that blue clubmoss is insane. Crazy how I never knew that plant existed, "you learn about a new plant every day"
Loved the dome! Thank you for the tour. 😊 I'd have to say my favorite botanical garden was in Miami, Fl. I think it was beautifully done and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I loved all the plants in such a small space.
That was AMAZING. I felt like I was there with you. Love the dome and gardens. I wow throughout the whole tour.. Ty for taking us with you. Btw ur reactions was cute and priceless
Thanks :) really try and make these videos so that if feels like you are there with me :) glad that came across !!
Your travel and garden tour videos are my favorite. Thanks for the tour!!
Great to hear :) thank you!!
Wow that place really does look amazing!! Absolutely stunning!! Love all the varieties of plants and really loved all the ferns and little streams running throughout. Awesome video!
Thanks heaps for watching! 😊
Thanks so much for that tour. I live in Brisbane, have been to the botanical gardens many times but it’s always so good when outsiders appreciate the wonderful work our botanical carers do. Check out the Brisbane city botanic gardens too, worth a visit. My favourite botanical garden is the National orchid Gardens in Singapore - their displays are outstanding as you’d imagine but all gardens there are good.
So keen to go to singapore one day!!!:)
So excited to see you enjoying our beautiful Brisbane again. Thanks for sharing, what a nice surprise. That’s one of my favourite places to visit. That and the Roma Street parklands Spectacle Garden 🪴
Gotta go there next :)
Thank you so much for sharing! I havent been on RUclips much lately, but today I am home sick, and your video hasbeen what I need to bring some joy through the fever. Please know that your work helps people all over the world, sometimes in unexpected ways.
I haven't visited many botanic gardens, but there's one I visited a few times at golden gate park in san Francisco, and I hope to return soon.
rest up & get better soon :) thanks !
What a beautiful place, Jan! Thank you for sharing 🌺🪴 The San Francisco Botanic Garden is pretty, I live in Denver ( USA), so the Botanic Gardens here has a special place in my heart. We have a dome too( not as big) - and it’s my favorite place to go relax!
LOVE the gardens my son and his global students will be in Sidney on the 12th but they are going to the tourist attractions wish they were going to the gardens there not many 12&13 year olds would love the gardens like I would thanks for showing me the Atlanta Georgia one is fantastic too ❤❤
Thanks for taking us with you! Love planty field trips 😊
Thanks for coming along :)
so good.. i love your botanic garden tours, i dont have much opportunity to travel so these are always a real treat for me! thanks Jan 💚
Glad you enjoy them! You are most welcome :)
Oh my god! I would spend days in there taking pictures
❤❤❤
Hi Jan! Amazing video as always 😍 Thank you for suffering in the heat for us haha
My favorite botanical garden I've visited is the Jean-Marie Pelt botanical garden in Nancy (France)
Wow gorgeous garden! Thank you for bringing us along!
At this moment, it's snowing a lot in South Korea. It's become a white world.❄️❄️❄️ I'm happy to see green summer in Australia in the southern hemisphere. ❤
Totally recognized your expertly executed instrumental piece! 😂😂😂 I just loved the walk. Sometimes a bit too fast for me to take in everything, so I must thank you for stopping and inspecting plants, I also wanted to take a closer look at! I very much enjoyed the ferns and bonsai trees. Every tree/wood you pointed out had caught my eye too & and just as you, prefered them over the others. I even saw a bonsai that was just as old as me. 😉 Thank you so much for taking us on this outing!
Thanks for coming along :)
This is so so gorgeous. Felt like I was enjoying the experience too. Kinda makes me want to go to the botanical garden next week. Also the bonsais were very interesting. Makes me want to learn how to do that. And the dome…I would love to have such a garden like that. Maybe a little smaller but so amazing. Thanks for sharing. Loved this.
Imagine a little dome like that and in the middle a swimming pool .... GOALS !
What an incredible tour! I go to the Toronto Botanical Gardens.. Lovely just to walk around but this weekend is the SOOS and that showcases some incredible orchid displays 👍🎉
I really Love this video. A shame that not more watching this videos. I love to see the potential of our room plants. Thanks for your effort
Yeah these tours never seem to interest many but I have a blast filming them :)
Your travel vlogs are the ONLY ones I love watching. Thank you for doing them 🥹
Thanks :)
I enjoyed this video thank you so much for share Beautiful and peaceful garden.
Thanks for watching! :)
"I can't remember, there are so many plants in the world!" No shame! With orchids alone there are over 8000 species! The diversity of the plant world is pretty amazing, thank you for sharing! As a bonsai enthusiast I loved seeing those included! I haven't seen swamp cypress yet but I think I need to grow some now! Thank you for the tour! What a lovely place!
Tofino Botanical Gardens was a lovely place to visit, in Tofino, BC, Canada. It's a 10 acre temperate coastal rainforest garden in a smaller community on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The area includes some amazing hikes and forest walks, hot springs, whale watching, charter fishing, sandy beaches, surfing, etc. In 2021 ownership of the gardens changed hands and it was renamed Naa’Waya’Sum Gardens and Clayquot Campus. Tofino is a popular destination so it's a bit pricey overall and if you want to stay overnight in Tofino you usually need to book well in advance.
I'm not sure what the "seasonal" trigger is in the Tropical Display Dome (maybe day length?), but one of my favourite plants in there is the _Monodora myristica_ when it's in bloom. The flowers are like nothing else I've seen.
Edit: @24:50, that iridescent fern-ally is _Selaginella willdenowii_ and is native to the SE Asian tropics. It has spread throughout the global tropics as an escape from cultivation. In Far North Queensland, it's considered an emerging environmental weed because it has naturalised to the rainforest near Kuranda.
Great video Jan! Montreal Botanic gardens are amazing- we went in Winter so only saw the indoor section but it went on and on. Saw some beautiful gardens in New Zealand last year and in May this year we are visiting Berlin and Munich and will be basing our trip around the large gardens in the middle of these cities.
Jill
"Why are they so loud" 😂😂😂😂 Jan, there kids😂 my 5 year old loves his peace lily. And he loves helping me with my plants❤
Beautiful tour. A very enjoyable and exciting video. 🌸
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Just like you, I gasped when I saw the queen 😮
Thinking I need to visit Houston Botanical Garden. Your video(s) inspire me to explore what’s around me. Especially now before outdoor gardening season starts. We had 3 inches of snow two weeks ago that lasted 1.5 days on the ground. Excited to see what regrows. Was 80 degrees yesterday. Plants are confused.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thanks for coming along :)
Is an aamazing place to visit
The fav .the Dome(dymond)i wish i could have a smaller version of it for my plants!!
They do a great job keeping all these international plants so alive in the australian enviroment✨
Great tour Jan !!
💚🍀🌵🌿💚
Thanks :)
Gorgeous ! Bradley would love this place .
Oh he would sooooo love the dome !!
Excellent garden tour. What a beautiful place! I’m in the PNW in Oregon, and wish I could tell you a favorite, but we have so few! Really, basically none aside from a couple rose gardens. I’m starved for anything even similar to this and other gardens you’ve shown us!
Ur content is amazing as always. Thanks for taking us along
Thanks for coming along :)
Absolutely beautiful 💚
The blue fern in the states is called a Peacock Fern. At least that’s what they are labeled as in the big box stores. They are incredible looking in person.
Edited to add- LOVED this video. I know they don’t do well for you but I’m happy you still film them for those of us who enjoy them. ❤
Thanks :)
Just wow. Wish I had some great tropical garden in UK
This was so much fun to watch! I especially loved the bonsai trees and all the alocasias 😍
Glad you enjoyed!:)
I loved this garden tour video ❤
Thanks for watching! :)
I Always Loved the same bonsais as you 😅 Love the Background music
Wow, thoroughly enjoyed this videos. Thankyou. ❤😊
Glad you enjoyed it!:)
I wish my dieffenbachia looked like that one in the start! Absolutely gorgeous 🤯
What a lovely video. Thanks so very much. I like the cypress and pinebonsai best. Probably because I’m from Sweden and could crow it. 🌿💕
Thanks :)
37:36 alle meine Entchen 😂🦆
You have to start with a "C" 😉
This place is heaven!
Thanks so much for bringing us along!
Edit: I can't believe, it's for free 😱
They all are !! How good !!!
18:55 good attitude, not feeling like you own the whole place is the best way to go about shooting in public hahaha. Also, the less stressed people are around you when you're filming the better right? Only makes things more relaxed for you to work and not have people bother you because they feel you are bothering them, just leave each other be :)
I love all the bonsai. I will get one one day. Right now I have all your favorites 😮😅Maranta plants Alacasia ,Hoyas, pothos
That was beautiful!! Thank you!
Glad you liked it! 🙏
Fabulous tour thanks Jan. What a magnificent garden 😍 I love all your videos, but I think tours are my favourites. Can't understand why they're less viewed.
Love how you switched to appropriate music for the Japanese garden 👍 I'm not usually keen on Bonsai (makes me think of binding women's feet ), but I do like the look of a forest in a bowl. Nice timing for lots of things in flower, pity about school hols " Lost me at playground" 😂😂
Thank you:)
Extraordinary Botanical garden! The timing of this I thought you were at Sydney Botanical, visiting Putricia the corpse flower recently blooming😹 This was so much more than expected! Thanks DJ Moss pole😻 my favorite botanical garden was Crystal Gardens ( Sadly no longer green house) and Butchard gardens in Victoria BC on Vancouver Island
Much nicer than a stinky flower :P hehe
They have a garden dome at the Calgary Zoo, have been a couple times once as a kid and once with my mostly grown kids. Definitely appreciated it more the second time ❤
Love the tour - thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!:)
Can't believe you missed it last time, mate! I'm just about 10 minutes down the road it's a beautiful spot, and even the mountain has a heap to explore.
I really love indoor jungles :) .Lunds Botanical garden ( South Sweden) is 35 km from me but their greenhouses are rather small and besides under a major rebuild since june 2024. They open again if everything goes as planned in the autumn 2026. But I used to visit some times during the autumns/winters. I hope the new build become nice since the old one felt like a home :) . The trees there are getting happy though since they are getting 3 meters higher space.
love the dome and some of the other plants. Wish I could come that way. The Edinburgh botanical garden (Scotland) is very nice
My favorite botanical garden was Fairchild in FL right after I met you at the IAS show last year!
I have heard ONLY GOOD THINGS! Really gotta go next time :)
Hi Jan 😊 I have only been to 1 botanic gardens which is the Cairns Botanic Gardens so obviously it is going to be my recommendation 😅
Looking forward to visiting Brisbane’s though when I visit my friend in Brissy during Easter
You’re super spoilt if that was ur first one 🫣🫣
yes, very interesting!
Glad you liked it 😊
So beautiful jan❤❤❤🎉
Nice video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching :)
That amorphophallus (?) the stem is an actual leaf, and the leaves on top are just extensions of the main leaf I believe, it produces the corpse flower, biggest, stinkiest flower in the world! So cool
Omgosh that stingray!!
20:20 OMG all those ferns (2nd favourite family) 🤤🤤 I am thoruoughly enjoying this one, 4 comments on 1 video is a new record I think 🤣🤣 I thought Drynaria Quercifolia was the only 'Oak leaf fern', since it's named like that and all, but here is another one and I've found in the meantime that Aglaomorpha Coronans has it as well (which I have bought and intend to mount)
Maaaan I miss the tropical greenhouse in hamburg, unfortunately it will be renovated for many years. They closed it right before I got into plants -.-' (2020)
What a shame :/
OMG the Stingray??? 🤯
I want to archive this 😍
Makes me wanna try one again but they are crazy spidermite magnets :(
@sydneyplantguy Oh wow! In the australian conditions I thought it would thrive! Mine is having mostly problems with thripse and nearly died a few times 😅 makes me question what it really needs the thrive, maybe lots humidity? 🤔
Love the agleonema at 11:06, always overlooked😢
Woww I’m very far away in Florida but wish I could visit there! Absolutely stunning dome of plants! I could spend hours in there 😂
I agree on the children like why are they always so loud lol
Well u can visit virtually for now :)
@@sydneyplantguy yess thanks to you!
Jan You should absolutely do the Cairns Botanical Gardens at Edge Hill.
The plants up there are NUTS
It's on the bucket list :)
You are wonderful. 😊
Aw thanks so much ! :)
Ive never been, but the Missouri Botanical Garden is one Im planning on checking out this year, its not too far of a drive from my house only 4 hours. Thomas Croat who discovered and described most aroids is there. Another one I really want to check out is the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
I love plants but have actually never been to a botanical garden in my life, but I have a goal to visit the one in Oslo this summer tho!
You gotta gooo!! :)
11:25 Interesting 😁 Haven't seen that one yet
A tour of Australian Botanical gardens!
The one in Mt Annan?:) I already have a full tour of it in my Playlist (linked at end screen)
Alle meine Entchen.....Köpfchen in das Wasser, Schwänzchen in die Höh🦆🦆🦆🦆😂Grüße aus der Pfalz😄
🦆🦆🦆
Love the tour!
(hint: Stags are usually solitary while Elks live in packs.)
I need a hint to remember that hint though :D haha thanks !! :)
Lovely :)
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful! Wait...no moss poles??? 😆
If you like that then you’d really love what we have here in St. Louis, Missouri, next time you’re in the states try and stop by the Missouri Botanical Gardens and checkout our Climatron, it’s incredible.
The Hortus Botanicus Leiden!
Heard good things 🙌🙌
The Alle meine Entchen song lol 😂 37:10
I'm very interested to try my hand at Bonsai but it seems like a very challenging craft.
It seems like a test of patience !!!
13:35 Any chance you can tell my if that is a Cussonia you're passing on your left? Looks like it, I've got a young Spicata overwintering indoors.. Araliaceae are my favourite plant family (atm)
I have no idea 🫣🫣
