- There are watches cheaper, and there are watches far more expensive, but right now Longines occupies a sweet spot between quality and affordability that is quite likely the best positioned in the market. Here are three reasons why.
Featured Watches:
Longines Heritage Military L2.819.4.93.2
Longines Heritage 1945 L2.813.4.66.0
Longines Heritage Legend Diver L3.674.4.56.3

Longines is like an old physicist who's won the Nobel prize. Very few people know him, even fewer people can appreciate his craft, but he's got nothing left to prove to anyone.
Brilliant comparison. I mean it.
Well said.
Albert Einstein owned a Longines.
LOL c'mon, Longines is very well-known, selling millions of watches per year. Its funny saying very few know it. Your analogy should be used for brands like Rado or Ball.
@@NhatHuyNg you weren’t listening to the video. If Longines truly positioned to its prime history, it would’ve been sold at a price level next to Rolex and Omega. So his analogy still makes sense.
"Sure your average Joe on the street won't have heard of this historical legend, but that's their loss, not yours" - priceless!
Totally agreeded!!!!
CAN'T AGREE MORE.
check out the bluffers guide to the...., very similar humour
Unfortunately or fortunately this is why they don't command Rolex/Omega prices. People want others to recognize their high(er) end watch brand
Hardly the case as they are in most mainstream jewellers in all the out of Town shopping centres throughout the UK.
for some reason my dad loves Longines over any other watch maker. He's also a very VERY frugal person so he's never allowed himself to enjoy such a watch. Honestly, in a world where a $18k Rolex is normal and that you can't even buy a decent watch at an official AD via walk-in, the Longines is a very good deal of a watch. Looks great, Swiss made, see-thru back. Most importantly for me, it's my dad's dream watch, so I'm going to buy him one and give it to him... as soon as this covid thing is over and I can see him.
you sir, are a legend!
What a great idea mate. I am starting to see the appeal more and more as I buy watches to be enjoyed and worn rather than admired from afar and wheeled out for special occasions.
Longines and you sir are the real MVP
Well did you buy it for him yet? Give us an update.
I second the update. Did you buy it yet?
Longines was around before Omega & Rolex?
Guess Longines has pretty long-genes.
Officer, this comment here, sir.
Longines 1832
zing!
Not to be a hater but today's Longines have nothing with the old one.
Same with almost all 'Swatch group' watches.
Also i would like to know where are cases and part's of those brand's made...
(I know, just want for others to find out)
You're so Punny.
A little Longines story...
My grandfather left his watch to my eldest brother. He's now 62 but when he got it he was a teenager.
Well, he managed to lose it within months, while skiing in Aviemore. But ten years later he got a phone call to say it had been found and handed into lost property. And following a quick service he still wears it to this day, every day😇
Wow that’s a good story. Funny but I was up in Aviemore last week. Fantastic place.
That’s amazing
Great story
How did he lost it?
Holy crap that’s flipping amazing! 10 years? How’d they track down your brother?
SHHHHHH I want the prices to stay low
Longines isn’t an insiders secret. They sell just under 2 million watches a year. As long as they don’t turn back into a manufacture prices will stay around where they are.
I agree, homeboy!
@@tfacison The thing is the public generally is not aware of what Longines brings to the wrist, so to speak. The 3 watches presented here provide a flavour of it. They just see a watch with a nice design and looks classy but not the details we see and appreciate.
Take another example, the Longines Flagship Heritage - a simple but nice looking dress watch to the general public. To those in the know, it's a watch that's very well thought that modernises lightly one of their classic designs, has a good bit history behind the design, and has good build quality, especially for the money it asks for.
ooh boy was i happy when they made the video on the 114300 😁
5L well said good sir
I love my Longines Heritage Military. Those blue hands over the speckled/cream dial (looks like vanilla custard) and balanced by the cold steel is top notch imo.
Works with so many straps as well.
Hi, great to hear that, please have a look at this Longines which I am thinking of buying :) ruclips.net/video/XeVXKSPMK-M/видео.html
Good to see that you like watches as well as cameras
I have the Longines heritage 1938 Limited Edition best watch I have love it
I don't know you, but I think that one will look astounding with a twist-o-flex bracelet or similiar. Lovely watch.
I actually prefer the Marine Nationale, it's stunning.
Only this channel makes a watch enthusiast; a true watch lover, fall in love all over again with each video. I'm building the collection I want: vintage, budget, luxury..the works FROM THIS CHANNEL ALONE. Thank you!
I'm on the same route since '17 😁🍻
all that just for what time is it ?
@@paulwilson3434 why do people collect paintings, all that just for something to look at? Now I’m not into collecting art but that’s personal taste and I’m willing to respect that, everyone has different tastes and enjoy different things
@@paulwilson3434 if this needs to be explained to you, then you're on the wrong site!
Vintage Longines movements are rubbish and not reliable...
Just doing my bit to keep vintage Longines prices down😏
They are fabulous watches😊
They are very good watches for the price..
Ha ha! I thought you were serious at first!
lee eldridge Gotchu! 😁 Their movements have a history of being robust beasts! 👍
Brilliant. I really hope Hodinkee don't tell everyone how great Longines watches are.
Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish,😉😉😉 I want to still afford them...
When you watch without sound and rely on the subtitles, you learn a lot about obscure watchmaker Wong Jean.
That dial is gorgeous
Aaah Wong Jean. A company founded by Swiss watchmaker Jean Olivier Baptiste, in collaboration with his Hong Kong Millionaire financier Wong Kok Heng.
Try it for tissot.
Its hilarious. You never get the same mangling twice.
Ha ha ha
I am in LOVE with the legend diver.😍
Its a great watch! I have sold all my seiko and now only collect Longines.
Just simply an awesome company and watch.
I've had my eye on both the 1945 and the diver since last year now. Longines does a great job designing something unique and retro in the modern day without feeling forced. And yes, they are seriously a bargain for what you're getting. I also love the Big Eye Chrono and the Evidenza.
Definitely the Evidenza!
"Fellow watch editorialists and Leica fans Hodinkee" - amazing haha
Yo fuck Hodinkee.
Dieded at "Leica fans Hodinkee" 🤣🤣
I listened to that like 5 times just for laughs.. 😆😆
What's the reference to Leica about? Sorry I don't get it.
Tanmay Choudhury some sort of branded partnership
I just purchased my first Longines in 46 years! A Hydroquest and it is perfect!
The new Hydroconquest with the ceramic bezel is a huge step up in quality for modern Longines. Now if they would just get rid of the "La Grande Classique" line, and I think they'd be set. I love their Heritage line and their Master Collection a lot. Their modern Conquest and Hydroconquest lines are also very interesting and offer great quality for the money.
I got my hydroQ yesterday, and it's been the most satisfying purchase in years
Me too! Stunning watch.
Got that also the tow tone version with blue dial!!! I love it!
I bought one around 10 years ago for £600 and it's still great! Longines are fantastic.
I remember ~ 2 generations ago in the UK when selecting my first watch at a very reputable local jewelers the salesman enthusiastically talked about the full range of watches and, when listing the "Rolls Royce/Bentley" level watches, he included Longines with Rolex and Omega.... Too rich for me then as a mere lad so I bought a Tissot ('Rover/Jaguar' level!) which served me very well for many years before being passed on to a good friend. I finally bought my Longines > 30 years ago and it's still going strong.
I wish there was some Hamilton watches featured on this channel
I have a 41mm hydroconquest as my daily and my wife a 31mm white dial longines conquest. Both fabulous quality and value. Absolutely bulletproof. Swiss luxury at a price (currently) that it's ok to wear everyday
Never really considered a Longines. They always seemed mid-tier swatch to me.
Until I tried on the heritage classic sector dial, it was bought within minutes! 😍
The Rumourmonger Ha! I felt the same way when they announced that sector dial watch. I’d love to own one someday. Hope you’re enjoying it. Wear it in good health!
I’m still waiting for one to show up at my AD so I can check it out! Congrats!
you're getting a taste of longings without original movement and methods of manufacturing methods. get your hands on a vintage admiral or conquest, and you'll really cherish the brand for what they really are. cheers on joining the longings team!
Conquest Heritage for me. Absolute stunner. I'm loving the 1945 though.
The Legend Diver is a beautiful watch in person, it has become my daily wear watch and I stare at it constantly because of the way that the gloss dial and domed crystal play with light.
GroundGravy I’d love to try one on my wrist. Looks really cool.
I have been considering one for a while now...a no date specifically..beautiful
Which do you have?
My daily as well. I've had it for 2.5 years now and I still love it
One of my daily's but treasure it as much as the Blusey...
Longines is going to be on the up and up, once again, distinguishing themselves with a focused vision.
Follow Tudor.
After so long searching for my first serious watch, I decided to go with Longines last year. Got the Master Collection Chronograph Bucherer Blue Edition (500 made worldwide). The moment I saw it for the first time and holding it in my hands, I immediately noticed the sheer quality and detail of the watch. It was one of the most beautiful watch I ever saw and I didn't hesitate a second to be the owner of it. Didn't regret my decision ever since.
Psyko1233 Now that’s a beautiful watch!
@@Blue_3rd It truly is! Pictures doesn't justify it. You really have to see it in person if you have the chance
Nice. I got the normal version
Congratulations to such a beautiful watch !
@@csnoopy the normal version has that barleycorn pattern on the dial which looks really good. You can't go wrong with a classy silver tone dial and blue tempered hands
So glad you finally did a Longines video. I looked at the local watch shop, and even when happy to spend 4 or 5 times more, I actually thought the longines were the nicest looking - also COSC certified!
Each one looks good. And the writing, as always, is exceptional: “anorak wearing enthusiast.” Pure gold.
Cedrik Zemitis lol
My favourite watch brand. Personally, I would prefer them to stay slightly under the radar so that the prices don't shoot up. for me, they are the best bang for the buck you can get. The standard black dial leather strap Conquest is the most simple and yet perfect looking watch you can buy.
The aged dial reads more like the speckles on an egg shell to me. I like it on a purely visual level.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Longines. Love that diver 👌🏻
Amazing video. Reminds me of "Top Gears" take on Lancia or Saab. Well done, more of this stuff (once in a while).
Do more affordable watch brands in the future thanks mate
This is the definition of affordable, but then again if your budget is low then it’s highly unlikely you’ll see anything on here
Kire the definition of affordable would be something you could afford on a low budget.
$25usd a week and this watch is yours.
Love this! I'd love to see a review of the Longines Master Collection, particularly the moonphase.
The Avigation Big Eye and the new Sector dial are my favorite Heritage pieces from Longines thus far. They are absolutely the best at reissues.
The Longines Master Collection is freaking amazing.
I have the moonphase triple calendar, and it is amazing
I've got a Heritage 24 Hours (1954 re-edition). Absolutely lovely and well put-together watch. And I say that as someone who also has GS, JLC, IWC, and Omega in their collection. Longines is a really underestimated watch maker.
My first “good” watch was a Longines, purchased in the late ‘60’s when I was in high school. I still have it.....and it still keeps time. 😊
@Trap 50 more than he bought it probably, less proprtionally compared to inflation
I have a Longline Conquest VHP quartz . It is my travel watch . I love it.
I would go for their quartz and at least I could relax without fretting over it playing up.Cheers.
My dad Rip always said Longines was the very best watches I never asked him why I wish so much I would have he was a smart man worked on the Sr71 for Lockheed aircraft he used to talk about it and being a smart ass kid I would ignore him
Hush... Let's keep Longines as an insider secret bargain for high quality watches. The public need not be wiser.
HAHAH I am 100% with you on this.
I mean it isnt that high quality relative to some other brands, not nearly as interesting either... take a look at some of longines sports watches - truly awful...
@@omarsaletovicprins9632 Don't expect every model to look good. They still have to cater to the mass market. That said, Longines is doing us, the watch enthusiasts, some good with their Heritage series watches with good quality, lovely Heritage inspired designs for the prices asked, e.g. the recently launched Heritage Classic Sector dial which is a handsome slight redesign of a 1930s Longines Art Deco design watch and comes with a modern silicon hairspring for just a snip above US$2k (with an extra Nato strap thrown-in for good measure). The value is really very good.
If more people buy it produces competitions and bring the overall prices of the high quality watches down.
OmarSaletovicPrins Longines watches being interesting or not is of course a matter of personal opinion. But Longines offering superior quality for money ratio is just a fact.
I recently purchased a Master Collection 42 mm Moon-Phase and am absolutely delighted with it. The value for money is outstanding. A beautiful White guilloche dial with blued hands, and Breguet style numerals. Sapphire crystal case back, and a dark brown alligator strap with a very well made deployent folding clasp. The watch is accurate to within two seconds a day. The finish of the case is as good as that on my two Rolex watches. All this for less than two grand! Longines are back with a bang.
Always been a Longines fanboy! Feel like their decision making and releases are very thoughtful and intriguing.
I used to have a Longines Conquest GMT and for a watch at the £1000 mark, it was amazing. Really well put together and made me wonder why anyone would pay more for a watch.
The watch is nice however I'm not one for fake patina.
then get the 1945
@@henner645 personally think that was the nicest of the 3.
I have been obsessed with these heritage watches from Longines for nearly 2 months now. This video only confirms my reasoning. As a huge fan of restored vintage time pieces, Longines pieces always seem to have a higher value in the vintage world, regardless nearly of condition. I believe they are a brand that does not get the respect it deserves. Styling appeals to those with a more common taste, yet the engineering and solid performance justifies their worth of every dollar spent. Time for me to get off the fence here and own one of these fantastic time pieces. Thank you for a very informative and in depth look one of my favorite brands and styles.
That Heritage 1945 is flat out gorgeous.
Tbh I’m not a huge fan of it for some reason lol the legend diver and the heritage flagship are more my style but I do really like the blue hour and minute hands ! Guess we all have our own tastes and this brand provides 😊 !
Longines has been in my family for years, my grandpa owned several of them. Longines was my first entry to a luxury watches. My mom gifted my a 39mm hydroconquest for my 34th birthday. I am still in love with that watch as the first time I wore it. I’ve had the privilege to own Omega and Rolex, but the hydroconquest is my first love. I also own the longines skin diver, and I’ve been salivating for this heritage 1945 since last year. It will be in my collection this year for sure.
What a priceless channel.
The rigour, humour, love and attention to detail you bring to your work is deeply deeply satisfying.
Across the visuals, the almost lyrical scripting and the music, this is exceptional.
Keep up the amazing work.
I've had my Avigation Bigeye Chrono for over a year now, and it's the crown jewel of my modest collection. Longines make fantastic watches!
Just bought a Legend Diver and am so amazed such a beautiful timepiece could be had for such a price. Feel very fortunate to start my collection with one!
The 1945 is simply beautiful.
yes, that one is gorgeous
That Heritage Military is beautiful.
I sold Longines when I was a Jeweller with J.Weir & Sons in England in the early 80's. Longines always looked so glamorous and classic and because of that I bought my mother one of their gold cocktail watches which she still wears .
I have been stunned by Longines' quality as well. I have a 41mm Hydroconquest ceramic automatic chronograph and the level of fit and finish far exceeds my expectations for this price bracket. Bravi, Longines, molto bravi!
I love Longines! I’ve got Omegas, Tags amongst others and while my speedy is definately my best watch, my Hydroconquest Grey Ceramic comes a close second. Bang for your buck I don’t think they can be beaten..maybe alongside Tudor (but they’re increasing in price) I need to get a watch from the heritage line next.
Get yourself the Flagship heritage. It's lovely: you need to try it
Proud owner of a Longines Heritage Conquest Automatic. Will wear it for the rest of my life. Timeless
Oh my dear brand Longines... The brand that started me in this crazy endless hobby twenty years ago. The brand with so much heritage and history, the brand that should be way above Omega and Rolex for that mater. All dough I went a bit upmarket since then, but my hearth stops beating when I hear and see Longines!!! I still own a Lugrin's Patentent Chronograph which is the first chronograph that Longines ever made and is so dear to me... All your propositions are spot on, but I may ad one more, that would be the "Big Eye"aviation chronograph. Thank you for bringing up this brand. Awesome Video as always!
My wife just gifted me a Longines Conquest. Such a beautiful watch and so glad so be part of their amazing heritage.
Been waiting for this episode 😍 finally some recognition for Longines❤️ could you guys make a comparison between longines hydro conquest and the Tag heuer aquaracer?
Proportions on Longines watches makes them some of the most beautiful out there.
I actually bought a longines diver after I watched this video. I love it so much
Cool, which one did you get? My only concern is that im afraid it will be too big, with the lug-lug distance..
It's so good to see some love for the 1945. I bought one a year ago and am still enamored by it, it's flown very under the radar though. I like having a watch that no one has seen though :-)
Aren’t longines sales 4th behind Rolex, omega, Cartier ?
Neo I remember reading that it’s a very popular brand is Asia, so has been a cash cow for Swatch.
I fell in love with Longines & my love is growing! The quality is superb. The history is amazing. And I just love watching these videos & wearing one of my collection with pride.
I'm lucky enough to own a 1974 Longines Conquest. Simple, classy, and quality. Loving this brand more and more. That Legend Diver is utterly gorgeous.
Yeah a watch over $1k is not 'affordable'. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but it isn't affordable. Check out Just one more watch for REALLY affordable watches.
I got my hydro conquest blue ceramic last year birthday , aiming for a gs this year .... now with this video , you are turning my direction back to longines again ......
I love Longines to death, but they need to do two things:
1. More complications. They have some exclusive ETA movements that only appear in their watches, but we need to see more than chronograph and moon phases. Perpetual calendars, split-second chronographs, rattrapantes, flyback chronographs, etc. Maybe even a tourbillon. Bring complications to the masses, but do so without compromising quality like the Chinese have.
2. *more display casebacks* they might not be appropriate on the dive watches or military watches, but on the chronographs, the display caseback is sorely-missed, and it's enough to convince some buyers to go to other manufacturers (like Tag Heuer, Oris, and others) instead.
Agreed with everything except the tag Heuer part 😂 great comment
I would 100% own the Avigation big eye if it had a display back. The column wheel is too pretty to hide away
Your suggestions will ENORMOUSLY RAISE THE PRICE of the watches out of the price bracket . So they will either sell the watches cheaper at a loss or lessen quality which they wont do anyways.
They are owned by Swatch and they are making watches only into the low luxury prices market. IF you want tourbillon go with Blancpain or Breguet - they are part of Swatch too.
@@SWatchik, I don't own an Avigation big eye for that exact reason. It's not as if there's an excuse for water resistance (of which it has very little anyway). And, that column-wheel chronograph is utterly stunning.
gmt without the silly bezel and a display caseback please!!
I think Longines are beautiful... based on this video, though I’d like to see a video comparing the quality of affordable watches from the old guard to the new. Longines compared to Oris compared to Nomos perhaps? Would love to see the differences between Nomos’ novel in-house movement to something veteran in around the same price point. Great video as always
Tbh the only watch brands i think that are really worth it on both price point and history behind it plus design are Casio, Seiko, Tiesot, Longines and Omega. Everything else is way overpriced imo. Sure Rolex has its advantages and brands like Cartier got their Style statement but dude as a normal person those are not affordable at all. Even Omega is too expansive for my means but still got a few good deals. But Longines is by far my favourite for the value you get out of money only brand Id put next to it would be Tissot maybe. Wonderful Video!
Wasn't one of the three. But I've had my eye on Master Collection Moon Phase. L2.773.4.78.3
I had one (Chrono, full calendar), it was amazing, if a little hard to read at a glance.
Not sure why, but I've never had a desire for a Rolex. There are so many wonderful watches like Longines, Tudor, Grand Seiko, Lange, etc., that I feel a Rolex is the turn-to watch for someone who wants to advertise that they have an expensive watch, but are too unmotivated to really spend the time to shop the beautiful competition out there. Of course, I prefer design and quality, and would prefer to have a watch that some who appreciates watches would recognize. It doesn't have to shout out to everyone, "look at me!"
I love this guy, this channel, and Longines !
Sir, you could probably make the purchase of fertilizer sound refined and luxurious. I enjoy your videos.
That 1945 is a truly beautiful machine.
My gods the blue of the hands....
That Heritage 1945 is lovely. Attention to detail puts a cap on the hour/minute hands. A bit more attention to detail would have done the same for the seconds subdial however.
And not a word about the movement?
The master collection moon phase is on my wish list. Probably my favourite watch maker
I love my Longines watches. My favourite is my Longines military COSD.
Ditto. 👍
The Longines eye for overall design speak to me in a way other Brands just don't.
I really like the legend diver. Looking at the macro shots these Longines watches are better finished than Rolex.
What about oris?
I've had a black automatic HydroConquest (41mm) for the last few years and absolutely love it. I also have a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (39mm) and find myself wearing the Longines every other day in rotation with my O.P.
I bought the spirit and im very happy with the beauty and accuracy.. Plus 1 sec a day after fully wound.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the new Longines Spirit collection, and see some amazing close up photo of the watch of course.
Looking at a longines conquest sport. Including the hydro conquest.
Is that a good choice as my first longines ?
Quartz or automatic? I need robust reliability as due to my job
Longines has style, affordability and good design. They are just very good all round.
I love Longines so much. I love my Dolce Vita automatic and I am proud to own a watch from this brand.
moaz Samy I’m also a Dolce Vita lover, I wear my collection with pride. The quality is superb & each watch owns itself feeling different from the other 🌍
Darn! I still don't know what's better... The timepieces featured in this chanel or the narration...
Thanks for always delivering great revieww of great watches!
Kudos you did amazing justice to longines heritage collection!
other youtube/websites don't tell you so much information and the affordability of these.
As a product photograper and videomaker myself, I just come here to watch some makro porn!
ETA mechanisms are much nicer to work on than the last true Longitude I repaired . T'was simply not nce
I own a hydroconquest in blue best quality for price anywhere. Are you Quinton Wilson by any chance?
Even if I was offered a watch free of charge any of the other leading brands I would probably choose a Longines.
The Legend Diver is one of the best value for money watches available! It pays great heritage to the original models and it feels amazing and it is also a watch that works in every occasion.
That Longines Legend Diver is a show stopper.
Amazing video, I’d like to buy a Longines watch one day, I find a great spirit about this brand.
I'm trying to decide between the Sinn 104 and the Longines Avigation Bigeye for my next watch.
Sinn ftw
I am not aware of your budget, but I would recommend if you are going to buy a Sinn, to look at something with some of their cool technologies, like tegimented steel and magnetic resistances. Take a look at Sinn 836 or Sinn 856 (30 dollars more expensive, but double water resistance, inclusion of Copper sulphate capsule and an additional year of warranty), both more epensive than the 104, but less than the Bigeye, if one compares retail prices.
The longines is nicer - but which one do you want to look at all day ?
Oris should be considered also
Waqas Nasar I’m assuming everything has been considered and the choice is down to one of the specified watches. The RUclips community loves oris, I own an oris I like, but outside of the RUclips community tissot and longines outsell oris by sizable margins. And both have offerings as good if not better than oris.
Longines rocks! I prefer my Hydroconquest with ceramic bezel over my sub. Amazing build quality and feel!
Heritage 1945 are exceptional watches, i´m really impressed.
Beautiful video and beautiful watches. Bravo.
Looks nicer then a Rolex to me. Needs to have an open case back though. If my re-issue Poljot Strela has a saphire caseback a £1000+ watch should.
I like 300 meter diving longines watch .
Thank you! Great video and great expertise. Longines is a true watch brand with great legacy, and it's still affordable and interesting.
I truly hope you can do more reviews of absolutely anything Longines. They deserve no less than your incredible videos. My brother and I have, between us, the heritage bigeye, the conquest, the hydroconquest times two, and the heritage classic 38.5 mm. We’ve always been amazed by your videos and it would be fantastic to see some more along the lines of the more “affordable” brands. Hamilton has an incredible history, and we see that in only a few of these. Can we look into some of that? Truly, your videos are second to none.
