Don Cooper was the one who had to teach Chris Sale to not try and strikeout every batter that came to the plate and too try and pitch into weak contact to get more ground balls and to go deeper into baseball games. He warned Chris Sale that if he relied on his slider too much it would put wear and tear on his arm.
I love Coop. No nonsense guy that knows his shit. Has turned more careers around then u can imagine. Funny is that he has been in a Sox uniform since Ozzie was manager. Goes to show u how good he is.
@@iangaz739 John Garland, Jose Contreras, Estaban Loiza, Freddy Garcia, Bobby Jenks, Jose Quintana. Helped develop Mark Buehrle and Chris Sale. Aaron Bummer and most recently has helped change Lucas Giolito into an All Star. The List goes on. I would bet money That he helps Kuechel become a better player than what people will expect. He has changed alot of peoples careers around and former All Star pitchers who have down years have been quoted saying they came to the White Sox to work with Don Cooper and many have showed positive results. Like David Robertson and others. White Sox have never had a problem developing pitching. That is something the Cubs have never been able to do
@@iangaz739 its funny that you assume that Don Cooper didnt help any of these pitchers. When their have been hundreds of reports that he did and pitchers on interview giving him credit. your hilarious 😂 you sound like a salty cubs fan. I would be too if i was a Cubs fan and had to watch what Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert are doing for the White Sox
They cant hit on every prospect. They have had good luck with the Prospects they traded for. I think Giolito and Dylan Cease will be All star caliber and if Kopech comes back the same. He looks like a cant miss. I think if Rodon stays healthy he will be a pretty damn good pitcher to have as a 4th or 5th starter. Also have to remember they have Kuechel, Dane Dunning etc. Still have the cap space to make a run in FA. it would be nice if Carson Fulmer could develop into a nice bullpen arm like Andrew Miller who was a high drafted player. Fulmer is looking good so far this sping and as someone already said he still is a young player
Giolito, Cease, Kopech, Lopez, Rodon, Keuchel, Dunning, Steiver, They have pitchers they recently drafted that can still develop into studs. Plus future Free agents they could look at if they have too. They really dont need Fulmer at this point but it would be a nice suprise if he breaks out as a bullpen arm.
😂 yeah because the White Sox have really struggled with developing pitching. Chris sale is the Ace of the Redsox, Quintana is the cubs best pitcher at this point. Giolito is an All Star. Aaron Bummer is one of the best bullpen arms in the game. White Sox fans would agree that Don cooper is doing a fine job. If it wasnt for him Developing Chris Sale and Jose Quintana. The White Sox would not have Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jimenez, Michael Kopech or Dylan Cease. The White Sox have always drafted well with pitching too and found diamonds in the ruff with pitchers like Quintana was Rule 5 you can give credit too Don Cooper for that also
Thank god Coop adapted. It was a struggle for our guys because he was too stubborn to adapt to the times. Hell Giolito had to go to his high school coach to get right. Glad he's finally trying to learn the new technology out there now.
Lucas Giolito gave credit to his high school coach for helping him but he has also learned alot from Don Cooper but obviously you only know half the story because your not a fan

Donny Cooper, a long way and many years from New York Tech and Long Island...just outstanding, well done! ⚾️🌟
Yup... Cooper was my pitching coach for a few years at NY Tech back when I was 12 to 15 (I'm 47 now) going to pitching camp there
I was the head coach at Hofstra when Donny was pitching for NY Tech and Rich Tappen/Bob Hirschfield...
@@KenDrPH yeah Bob Hirschfield was at NY Tech forever I went to his summer camps and Pitching camps for years he ran a great program there.

Love these behind the scenes. I am glad Bill Ripken is doing these. I have always liked him. Now MLB get yo' shit together
As Ozzie put it so eloquently..."Kenny's bitch"
