I can drive sometimes 5k miles and only fill up one "tank" of DEF. Idk if thats normal but the truck has been flawless ownership wise.

I don't care if I am towing an empty trailer, I carry DEF as soon as I connect. These trucks can do wild things with consumption and towing.

2.8 duramax here in a colorado 2017, getting little over 1k miles per gallon so looks to be in line.

Makes sense as the newer LZ0 is rated for higher HP and Torque so it would use more. With my driving, I’m not at that level, I seem to use less. Rough estimate is about 1 gallon per 1000 miles. But that’s mostly highway. But when towing it sure eats it faster. But I don’t mind as it’s a towing monster for what I need. Tks for the vid.

Just for reference as 1 data point in the big world My ‘21 (LM2) crew cab Z-71 w 34” 10ply AT’s, canopy, 80% highway at posted speed, over 1,872 miles had a 1.33gal def for 1k miles ratio. And then another window of time with similar conditions it had a 2.5 gal to 1k miles ratio. So, take everyone’s numbers w a grain of salt.

Thanks for sharing. 2-3% rule of fuel used is the norm, I wonder what your mpg was. A solid point that engine load and vehicle use will vary consumption. My LM2's showed your numbers but only when I was towing.

@@DemonWorks never tow, a common “heavy load” for me is 3 adults and maybe 200 lbs of kayaks and gear in the bed. MPG’s are 22-23 since the larger tires (and running 48psi). Less regens since switching to larger tires and Renewable diesel (Costco PDX), was averaging about 320 miles between regens now common to see 400 or more miles between. Probably the combo of cleaner fuel and more consumption due to increased rotational mass issue.

I've noticed roughly 1k miles to a gallon of DEF under normal driving conditions. However I've noticed something recently with my LM2. Fuel quality plays a role. I've stopped using the local station diesel where I regularly get a 30c discount using their rewards app. I've just been filling up with Shell instead. Slightly better MPG and, it's hard to measure accurately, but DEF consumption is down a bit. Seems logical if the fuel is a little bit lower lower quality. Burn more fuel = use more DEF.

Off topic from this video, but could you explain the difference between the Small Quantity Data Reset and the Small Quantity Learning Odometer Reset?

Hi… I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I’m hoping that you will be able to help me since you are a GM mechanic. Do you happen to know where the condensate drain is located on the 2019 - 2022 Silverados? I have a 2021 LTZ Z71 with LM2 diesel and I think my drain tube is clogged. I can’t find it anywhere and a Google search is inconclusive. Some are saying it is behind the passenger side front wheel well liner and some are saying it’s is on to of the transmission. So far I’ve been unable to find it. I let it idle yesterday with the AC on the coldest setting (recirculation on) for probably 20 minutes and I had no drips under it. That’s part of why I can’t find it. I’m starting to get a funky smell when I first turn on the blower at startup. I’ve tried spraying AC system cleaner/deodorizer in the inlet duct in the cowl but it is short lived. I have the Lube Guard evaporator cleaner kit if I could only find it I’m sure I can unclog it and clean it. I really like your channel and content!

have you seen anyone with a dual battery setup on the 3.0? i am wanting to do a 4k inverter on my lm2 with dual batteries. shouldnt be a problem with the hd alternator that comes stock on all the 3.0s

best consinstent mpg will come from the stock box. best sound, in my opinion is K&N Intake with PPE Zilla Pipe.

What really p*sses me off about DEF Fluid, is the limited choices of brands and sizes that you can purchase it. I mean you can't just go to the local discount-store, and find a quart for a dollar. Somebody in our government is pocketing money off of this somehow.

You can always go to a truck stop, you can buy as much or as little DEF there and its cheaper then buying the containers from store.
