In the old days they were called rodeo clowns because the painted their faces like circus clowns and actually entertained the crowd during lulls in the action. They're now called bull fighters because the fight the bull in order to save the riders from serious injury. They are highly respected by all rodeo fans and participants, especially the bull riders. They travel on the bull riding and rodeo circuit just like the cowboys do. That's why you kept hearing Jessie's name (not the annoying part).
@garygemmell3488 there are still Rodeo Clowns. You will usually see a crew of 4. There are 3 bull fighters and 1 Clown. The Clown is also called a barrel man. His responsibility is to entertain the crowd and he is usually stationed at the barrel. The bull fighters also still paint their faces as well.
Getting hand stuck in the bull rope:
The rope wraps around the bull, goes through a slip knot, and then around the bullrider's hand. They also use rosin on their rope to make it sticky.
If they come off on the side of the bull opposite of the hand they are using (away from their hand), the force of the spin can force their hand to stay closed over the rope. So a right handed cowboy coming off the left side of the bull is at higher risk of hanging up. A right hand cowboy coming off the right side of the bull will have his hand jerked open and it will pop out of the rope.
Bulls usually have a pattern and they are well known, so a cowboy usually knows if the bull he's matched up against is a spinner, if it prefers spinning to the left or the right, or if they mix it up. Or they might be a high kicker, or a "trash" bull that will throw all that garbage at you. 😁
Great reaction!
It’s always fun when the bull jumps the fence into the audience. Mayhem!
The clowns are THE most important people in that arena. They throw themselves in harms way to save others...love me some rodeo
Those guys are who we call real men! Fearless!
You raging at that audio is the most relatable thing😂
I agree that audio between clips is annoying af! Thanks for a great reaction!
"Jessie...GETS SNOT ON HIS SHIRT!!! 🤣🤣🤣"
You're quickly becoming my favorite RUclips reactor. Keep up the great work!
Wow, thanks so much.
Those bullfighters are beloved by the riders
The guy who use to live across the street from my Grandpa and Grandma was a bull rider. He had so many metal platesbin his head and body that even on a clear day if we saw him running fast for home we knew there was a bout to be a thunderstorm. He was alddo the nicest guy in the world.
Dude. You have no idea 😂 “protection athletes” (aka clowns, bull fighters) and pickup riders are HEROS. I spent much of my earlier life on the circuit (barrels, team penning) and knew many many guys who rode bulls and busted broncs as their bread and butter. Most of them were hard working, stand up guys that were practically duct taped together going into their rides 😰😵💫. I’ve seen guys dry chew oxy JUST TO GET ON. Sometimes they’re riding with busted ribs, pulled/torn groins, shoulders that have been dislocated over and over… it’s really unbelievable and one of those sports that is SO MUCH WORSE in person than it looks on tv (on their bodies). The risk is almost incalculable. They have balls the size of grapefruits lmao
Love American sports... No matter what we do, we have to have at least one ambulance on standby. 😎✌
The men in the ring are there for the riders, true saviors and heroes sacrificing them selves to save the riders
Cody Webster is a great bull fighter. If you’re interested in watching some behind the scenes or up close bull fighting he has it on his channel. His series Behind the Chutes is behind the scenes of the rodeos but also the bull fighting.
I went to school with the guy in the orange shirt, Frank Newsome. He was next level tough and athletic. Freak of nature.
This is the PBR tour, that stands for Pabst Blue Ribbon, it's a beer brand. I'm not saying beer had anything to do with how this sport got started... I'll let you be the judge
The ride at 4:31 mark is scary. the Bull fighter in the purple ( Jesse) is the blood brother to the rider. that's why he covered him like that.
Jessie's nickname should be "Parkours with bulls." I swear he jumps on the bulls head or jumps off of it some times. I think he does it on purpose. Jessie is Jumping with style onto a bull's face pretty much.
You’re really not ready you really do a good job and that’s coming from a really old American good job
Bull fighters are a different breed. You gotta have a screw loose to slap a bull in the face and get its attention on you. Any rider will tell you those guys save their bacon regularly
My nephew and his stepbrother are bull fighters. They protect the cowboys, but they also compete. They have won many times, but my nephew has been gored, broken many bones and had many surgeries. The bull is fine. Just has a flank strap to make it buck. Need an 8 second ride
Trying to master these beast is half the fun, these Bulls are Super Stars, they're worth Thousands of dollars the best bulls (Bucking fiercely, crazily while fairly gentle when moved and feed, etc..), can be worth Much more. you should see it live to get the real feeling of it.
Jono, if you get away from the city, we'd have you hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, your kids would be watched like family, everyone would be polite to your Missus, and your cheeks would hurt from smiling. We'd wake up and start all over tomorrow. Beautiful places to see, good food to eat. We'd have you looking to relocate. 'MURICA!!
Mate that sounds like heaven. I miss hunting and fishing so much and would love to get my son involved, he has been fishing a few times but never hunting unfortunately, too many strict laws here in Europe that make it very difficult
If you ever want to check out a movie to watch about this sport and one of the greatest bull riders that ever did it check out 8 Seconds.
*8 seconds is how long they have to stay in the bull for points.
They should have just called that the Jesse Burns highlight reel. Dudes the one you want in there if you're riding.
Bull riding and football What more do ya need?!
I was a huge Chris Shivers fan. He was the first rider to earn 1million dollars. A bad wreck had him laid-up. He was also the smallest rider. There have been a couple deaths. Promised Land killed one guy. Those videos are not online as least they weren’t. I’ve been to two professional bull riding events. Very exciting
Also I have been to a few NFL games.
It's too easy to go from "Never getting on one of those things" to "Well... maybe. The kid's version. Not the crazy stuff..." to "I mean, only ~once~ maybe" to "GOD GOD GOD GOD HEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPP" and being tossed and thrown to.. "I WANNA DO IT AGAIN!!!!" It's terrifying. It's BRUTAL. But it's also so much god damn fun. Just, ah. Don't let your little girl or your partner watch, maybe, the first time at least? It's scarier to the watchers during I think. You are overclocking yourself ~before~, trying to get yourself under control and ready, but DURING? The only thought seems universally to be a mix of "Yahoooooooo" and "OH God Oh God Oh God". Sitting, you are getting knocked to hell and back but are also a nice 'safe' distance from the sharp bits. You can't get gored or mule-kicked while ON the bull or horse. It's once you hit the ground.... bulls aren't stupid. They know you are the fly that was bothering them. The clowns/fighter/nutters are, to my weird view, the real brave ones. I'll hop on a horse in almost any circumstance, I've been conned into agreeing to get on the bulls. But intentionally get into a ring with a ROYALLY pissed off bull AND starting out the whole mess on the ground with all your soft bits just there to be kicked/tossed/gored? They don't get to start from the 'safety' of the TOP of the bull. They just go straight to dealing with pissed off cube of meat wanting to smack them around and are at eye level. Those guys? THOSE guys are the absolute nutters. And heroes. Well. Heroic insane people. Once I'm assured all the bits are still attached, I'm fine with friends being the riders. When a friend started picking up gigs as one of the clowns? I nearly snatched him bald I was so upset.
Best wrecks next bro.
You should react to some great American comedy. I strongly recommend Abbott and Costello Who’s on first. Another great one is Abbott and Costello 7×13 = 28. They are possibly two of the greatest comedic sketches of all time. Who’s on first sketch is about baseball, so it is sports related since your channel is mostly sports themed.
Hey buddy really liking your reactions. I don’t want to assume but it looks like you are into doing US sports reactions. If so I have a request. Could you do some NASCAR reactions? A great one to start with is “NASCAR Biggest Crashes.” I think it will blow you away and get you some clicks. All the NASCAR ones are pretty awesome. Thanks and keep em coming.
P.S. Another one that may interest you to continue in MLB is “MLB headshots.” That one will certainly blow you away.
Thank you man, and I will 100% be doing NASCAR in the future, possibly next week
I think you would really enjoy 8 second ride a true story of Lane Frost a great bull rider.
In my day there wasn't a farm boy alive that didn't at one time try and climb aboard the Herd Bull and Hang on.
I got trapped like that one guy in the chute during a HS rodeo. it was unpleasant.
The bulls will sometimes jump the fence into the crowd.
Great reactions!!
Thank you!! 😁
Video clip 6 the rider was tanner Byrne and the bull fighter in the purple jersey is his older brother Jesse I went to school with both of them great people great family they are the top bullfighters in the world people come from all over the world to train at their farm
We grow them a little crazy in the south
I root for the bull 🐂 because it did not ask for this.. 😎
Jesse byrne's highlights are amazing. Also consider watching JB Mauney and the top bull highlights.
cheers, will do
I'm not sure if they will make good reaction vids, but will help you understand the sport.
@@gennaro13 I'd be glad to understand the sport more, that way I can make better reactions in the future so it's a win win..
lol, yeah rodeoing is dangerous stuff but in all fairness so is the Running of the Bulls in Spain.
Yes. getting hung up is common. The riders wrap the bull rope around their wrists, and through the fingers. Called a "suicide wrap". Too many hangups, Those bu riders will hear it from the bull fighters.
That clip between the rides was obnoxious af
Actually, some of the bull fighters who save the bull riders are more fun to watch! Can you imagine how stupid it would be to pick a fight with one of these guys in a bar?! What can you do to them that a full grown bull they have already faced ?!
Jesse is the best bull fighter ever
You could win $500 usd. 8 seconds of thrills and 5bills,boo-yah.
Professional alligator raping, now thats a sport
The 'bull fighters' used to dress up like clowns.
Yeah that sound bite is quite annoying
Not me no amount cant spend money dead
Did you
Christ, I’m so sick of people who make videos and think they’re F’ing music producers
