    Beautiful Mark. The Duduk sounds especially nice with the octaves...

    Looks like a 20th century chromatic nyckelharpa to me, a Bohlin/Sahlström design.
    Who is the luthier?

      Yes, true enough. For clickbait reasons only (mea culpa) I was referring to the earliest depiction of the nyckelharpa. What I'm playing was built by Soren Ahker.

    Is he Mark Korven? He has written some amazing film scores using strange instruments.

    No it's made at the 1900s by August Bohlin in sweden because that is a chromatic harp not a Sierra harp

      True enough. I was referring to the earliest version of the nyckelharpa, for clickbait purposes only. Mea Culpa.

    This is fantastic!
    Yet I'm sorry to say that there is nothing medieval with the nyckelharpa. Certainly not this three row instrument, developed during the 20th century.
    That said, it is a beautiful instrument

    What is the instrument that you show playing side by side next to the nyckelharpa?

    • @indiefilmandmusic
      @indiefilmandmusic  Год назад +2

      That would be an ancient woodwind called the Armenian duduk. It's pitched down an octave for the video.
