I love this song... it's the first one I just learned with my nyk and I'm so happy to tell you that my friends and people in the street love it. Congrats! great song. thank you for posting it!
Jesus Christ the sovereign God loves you :" ) I hope you can personally get to to know the Holy Trinity God miraculously healed me of my chronic breathing issues that plagued me if not most nights then every single night for years God did this healing instantly within group prayer over my health
This is so beautiful! I'm writing a quasi-medieval novel, and this is just the music I'd want if my novel where ever to become a movie. I'll be listening to it while writing!
So this is an instrument that has three courses per tonal string? Sounds beautiful! Wondering if what were his hearing has been filtered through some kind of PA system or what have you? Or does the instrument have an onboard amplifier?
I guess it shouldn’t be too different from a guitar, since you also use your free hand to tense the strings when playing it, the nyckelharpa just makes it so you don’t have to shove your sausage fingers into the strings and hope you reach the right one.
@@eddie-roo As a acoustic stringed instrument player (guitar and mandolin) I have always been so impressed by those that play instruments with a bow, something I failed to learn. and now the Nyckelharpa requiring al of the above.. My hats off to the nyckelharpa musicians.. Bravo!🙂
No harder than a guitar. The luthier did all the hard work for you. The pegs don't drift very much, and there's not much you can do about it if they do. Sticky pegs, on the other hand, are a nightmare.
Just discovered this instrument by accident tonight. I’m in love!! It has that old worldly Celtic folk kind of sound. Kudos to you my friend! You are obviously very gifted playing many instruments. Will follow and listen to you more. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
I had to listen to this for my music class, I really like it tho! It's... different but beautiful! What instruments did you use? Looking forward to more videos of yours!
Awesome! How can we encourage you to create more like this? I’ve been looking for a nyckelharpa for years but they are nowhere to be found in the Netherlands. Thinking of building a boat and set sail to Sweden to get me one...
I love this song so so much! It's a great inspiration for me, since I bought my very first Nyckelharpa recently. Do you by any chance have notes to share? Or did you play it all by heart (as gifted as you are playing all those instruments)? I'm looking forward to playing this song one day myself, but I'm not good enough to play it without notes. I hope, you are going to upload many more videos involving Nyckelharpor! :)
Thanks, I created it in sections, starting with the B section (chorus), then eventually the A section (first melody), then lastly the bridge section... Sometimes playing ideas on a looping pedal, then improvising and recording the improvisations on the looper. I would also try out different ideas on the piano and sketch them out like the canonic section in the bridge, then record layers in the studio until it started to come together. I'll post a lead sheet that has the main melody and chords. John, Thanks so very much for sharing this wonderful piece of music - it’s going to be really fun to play along with you! Very generous, and as beautiful as your other works. Cheers! Kim Z. 😊
Hey thanks ! I just try to play what ever I can get my hands on: keyboards, guitars, drums/perc, flute, and just started a few years ago on the Nyckelharpa and cello.
Hmmm.....could be a nifty made up word. Are you familiar with Paldin? The Holy knights of Charlemagne's court and many fantasy mythos? Or perhaps it linked the germanic Palatines, which in my opinion, are link to one another. Both from Germanic lineages.
Well I wish the answer was more exotic but I since composed the tune in a place call the Palisades and it is Dorian minor, the name Palidorian had a nice ring to it 😁

Simple AMAZING Performance..! Watching from São Paulo, Brazil..!
My most beloved nickelharp song!
C'est tellement beau comme musique et comme son d'instrument
Una maravilla,saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
Wow, very impressive playing and production! Hats off! I love the Nykelharp, first time I’ve seen one!
I've never been to Sweden, but this really resonates with me. It makes me feel nostalgic.
Swedish folk main emotion is the melancholic sweetness of inevitable loss.
Thank you for letting me know!
Magnifique, bravo from France 💙
I never tire of hearing this!
This is an amazing song, and it fits the instrument perfectly. The sound is distinct, but that adds to the beauty of the sound overall.
Truly a piece of art, wish you keep making these videos. Greetings from Türkiye.

Beautiful! I just learned about this instrument today, and wanted to hear some Swedish tunes on it, as it speaks to my Swede ancestry :D
This was a lovely listen, amazing composition. Well done.
Fantastic
Wooooooow. Incredible😯😯👏

I think this may be my favorite Nyckelharpa tune! My sister plays - I'm the tuning engineer and sticky-key fixer.
Thnx Andrew. Regarding sticky keys this video from Viki Swan was helpful for me: ruclips.net/channel/UCLHcLQFkIaHuhFYBrym9u4g

What a unique and great sounding instrument. Looks like a nightmare to tune.
The four big tuning pegs under the headstock are a bear. The rest is easy!

I have never heard one of these before and have to say this music is outstanding and moves me, I can feel my Irish coming out in this!
Beautiful, feels like a happy walk through the woods, you could add an electric guitar to make it super powerful, great job, congratulations

Who made your nyckelharpa?
The 3 row was made by Ake Ahlstrand, the 4 row nyckelharpa was made by Johhanes Mayr
