    To this day my favorite "Dumb Blonde" Joke is so: A blonde woman requests a $1,500 loan from a bank and offers her Lamborghini as collateral, the bankers think she's a dumb blonde for offering such a luxury car for a relatively small amount and upon researching her, discover she's a multi-millionaire. She returns the next week ready to pay back the loan in full plus around $15 of interest built over the week and they ask why she needed the loan if she was so wealthy. She replies, "Where else can you park your car and ensure its safety for a week while on vacation for only $15?"

      My favorite blond joke:
      3 blonds are walking down a beach when the find a genie bottle. the genie pops out and tells them they each get one wish.
      The first blond says she is tired of the jokes and wants to be 20% smarter. The genie turns her into a brunette.
      The second blond wants to be smarter but not that much more so asks for 10%. Genie turns her into a redhead.
      The third blond is disgusted at her friends. She loves being blond and if nothing else, wants to be 20% dumber. Genie turns her into a man!

For instance, the part where Elle attends her very first class and did not know that there were readings assigned for that first class. That same thing happened to me lol. • @mustlovebooknerd
      @mustlovebooknerd 3 года назад +12

      I didn’t necessarily see this as an example of Elle’s confidence (though it could be). At this point in the movie, she’s not interested in pursuing a career in law. She’s interested in chasing Warner, who is going to Harvard. So she wouldn’t need backups. She either gets into Harvard and can get her man back or she doesn’t and she needs to come up with a new plan.

  • @trevorlange
    @trevorlange 3 года назад +256

    They do fashion merchandising majors so dirty. How they gonna look down on a 4.0 in a BUSINESS degree. Although as someone who went to school for pastry arts, I can relate to having a subject like "History of Poka Dots" because it was always a little weird saying that I had finals in things like cakes, cookies, pies, chocolate, and bread when juxtaposed against some of friends who had finals in something like human anatomy

    • @blandface9957
      @blandface9957 3 года назад +5

      Hey, sorry if this seems like a weird question but did your degree end up being useful? I am about to go into college and I've been trying to think of what major I should do and I'm really passionate about anything to do with culinary arts :)

    • @trevorlange
      @trevorlange 3 года назад +18

      @@blandface9957 A culinary arts degree can be useful but you can sometimes get the same skill based knowledge if there are good restaurants in your area with chefs willing to train you. I went to Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI. They offer bachelor's programs in culinary arts and in baking/pastry arts. I did learn quite a lot but I probably could've done alright with just the associates. JWU is the only school in the US, at least the east coast, to offer a bachelor's in just baking and pastry or a bachelor's in baking and pastry/food service manage or food service entrepeurship. The P4 program (the four year pastry degree) is rather competitive requiring recommendations from your chefs as well as a portfolio of what you made in your associates program. On the culinary arts side for bachelor's you get to choose between culinary arts/food service manage, entrepreneurship, sustainability (which is a new program created by an amazing chef that I got the pleasure of working with while at school), and also nutrition/food science which you could then take the skills from that and become a registered dietician or go on to develop new food products (think about whoever made pop rocks or hot pockets or any new kind of food) also with food science you get to play around with molecular gastronomy and serve food in unrecognizable ways that wow and astonish. JWU also offers a sommelier minor if you are really into wine. Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, NY is also a highly recommended school for people really into cooking. From the people I've run into that went to CIA they enjoyed their time there but it is a little more competitive. If you haven't worked in restaurants before I would recommend trying it out for a summer or up to a year, I personally worked in a restaurant the first year after high school and then went to college. I won't sugar coat it, the industry can be really tough. It can be physically demanding, long sometime irregular hours (including weekends and holidays) and at times it can get absurdly repetitive if the restaurant you work at does change up their menu every once in a while. Cuts, burns, and body aches are common but they are manageable. To end this rant, a culinary degree can indeed be useful, my baking degree has gotten me into most bakeries I've applied for and also into some restaurants. In the end the degree is only as useful as the amount of effort you put into the degree and how much effort you continue to put in after graduating. Practice and skill will always beat scholarly knowledge but you can get both out attending a school. Also, don't think you have to consider either of the two schools I mentioned they just happen to be my alma mater and another highly ranked school, but some community colleges and trade schools offer great programs as well. As you consider colleges for culinary arts make sure you know what level of degree the school offers many of them will only go up to an associates degree (which again is absolutely fine) or even just a certificate, especially for baking. Certificates in the long run don't get you very much. Feel free to ask any more questions, if you want a more private conversation I can give my Instagram (there's nothing to look at on it but good for messaging). I hope this was informative and not just long-winded

    To be honest I think Brooke not wanting her alibi getting out there in public is because if I remember correctly in early 2000's plastic surgery/ cosmetic surgery was still taboo and not as open like today. Like today we are aware celebrities get surgery and are more open about it.
    Back in 2000's, I can recall celebrities denying getting surgery done on them and would defend themselves against the tabloids. So, Brooke had a right to fear that her reputation would be destroyed if she gave her alibi. Just wanted to share my perspective. Also from California and yes lawyers here aren't that pretty.

    Stumbled on your react video to Bussy/RuPauls Drag Race Contract and enjoyed it so much I went on a binge. I appreciate how you make the law and the parts of life where we experience law, easier to understand. And your kinda funny too so there’s that.
    While I am still mid binge and might not have come across it yet if in fact you have already done it I would REALLY enjoy your reaction to A Few Good Men.

    I have to say I'm not to thrilled about the homophobia and pretty aggressive bi-erasure (Lack of acknowledgement that bisexuality exists and some individuals identify as such) in this movie. Like it's a kind of sweet, naïve homophobia and Elle looks just adorable when she talks about it, but it's pretty cringe.

    I love this film. Your reactions and explanations were great. I agree that it's obviously unlikely that this high powered partner would let an associate from his own firm supervise a law student in a murder trial but isn't part of the assumption that if he makes a fuss that Elle will bring him up on sexual harassment charges? Even if she is just an intern, he still can't go around pawing up junior employees at his firm. Anyway, great job!!
    As for your suggestion that we leave requests for other movies for you to react to, one of my favorite court room thrillers is an under-rated 1987 film called SUSPECT, starring Cher and Dennis Quaid, and featuring Liam Neeson, John Mahoney (RIP), and Joe Mantegna. It's really great but I don't want to spoil anything about it. Hopefully you can fit it in.
    Thanks for the content and keep up the great work.

    best blonde joke ive seen:
    "The man is very excited by this prospect of sitting next such a beautiful woman but is displeased when she turns onto her side, facing away from him to fall asleep. So he says to her, "Let's play a game. I'll ask you a question and if you can't answer it, you give me $5. Then you can ask me a question and if I can't answer it I'll give you $5." The woman says she doesn't want to play any games. "Tell you what, I'll ask you a question and if you can't answer it you'll give you $5. And then you can ask me a question and if I can't answer it I'll give you $500!"
    This causes the woman to sit straight up and pay attention. Pleased with himself the man asks his question. "What is the capitol of Indiana?" The woman shrugs and give the man $5. Then the woman asks the man her question. "What goes up a mountain on 3 legs and down a mount on 4?" The man is stumped. He has no idea. He brings out his laptop and searches the internet but is unable to find the answer, so he give the woman $500. She takes the money puts it in her purse and turns over to fall asleep. "Wait, what is the answer to the question?" The woman hands the man $5."
    good shit lol

    Although we all know Chutney is guilty of murdering her father, when Ellie accuses her of the murder because her curls were still intact despite Chutney claiming she was in the shower, potentially that accusation would not hold up in court because Chutney could argue that she was wearing a shower cap to protect the perm whilst she was supposidly in the shower. More solid evidence would be needed to secure above all reasonable doubt that Chutney was guilty of the murder and Brooke was innocent.

    I think that the writers intended to juxtapose Callahan with Elle. Callahan comes in believing that Brooke was guilty. He was never interested in getting Brooke off the charges, simply mitigating her Prison time. Elle on the other hand trusted her gut, gained her clients trust and kept it. It may not be entirely accurate but it strengthens Elle’s character.
