Yeah because walking is the most valuable part of a robot. The autonomous part is what is valuable. You can put it on wheels and it can still move around. Infact if you look at Amazon fulfillment centres the packet doesn't need to move. The products come to it.
How do you know though HOW it was pre- rehearsed. That would tell us a lot in its self. Was it the actor and the robot talking in nature language like 2 kids rehearsing a play? I’d like to see that part..

I don’t think that was true acting. It didn’t actually remember the script. I believe the bot simply recorded the audio from the films and played them at the demo. I think so because if you listen closely, the background music can be heard along with the voices played.

I think he's right about the "Cambrian explosion." If you look into robotics there is so much more than the humanoid form factor, although imo that is the most impressive one. They also have this incredible robotic dolphin that I honestly couldn't tell was a robot. I would love more realistic robotic animals like tigers, or monkeys, or exotic birds. I would also love mini humanoids, perhaps that could fly. If you've seen Chobits they do a great version of showing a hypothetical reality in which humans and robots live together in all sorts of ways. As someone who has been following this topic for over 20 years I'm so excited! So many people have worked so hard for this, his relay race metaphor is perfect.
I want to see a walking talking emoting humanoid robot that's powered by AI operating in real time. Not a scripted C3Po, gimme a real one. It's 2024 already!
When the robot can't stand on its own... you take us back like ten years. The fact they think this should have been presented publicly shows they aren't paying attention to the market.
I think the cost to make these bots should be under $7,000 USD. What they will charge is another question all together. There will be a lot of money made on these if they can cook, clean and help around the house for sure.
"...and it feels like we're really just getting stared"..... Yeah. you can see here he basically says that they're just getting started...... LMFAO, no fricken S... we can hear and read, yet you repeat exactly what he said like we don't understand it.
Redistribution has never worked. AI is redistribution. If it's as capable as a person, it can do everything you can do. It will be able to do the job of CEOs, better than CEOs. AI will be the super rich, it'll do everything for the equivalent of pennies. This is the Star Trek post scarcity society. Not because government, AI and cryptos will make government obsolete.
Sorry to say but this did not impress me in the least. Sound bites from films and the kind of movements you get from a toy robot. Give me 1 billion dollars and I'll build you the same and still have enough left over to live an amazing life style.

How is this good? They’re just playing sound files from films through the robot. The robot doesn’t mimic the moves of Baymax from Big Hero Six and it definitely doesn’t copy Anthony Daniel’s moves as C-3PO for Star Wars.
The aesthetics of this bot is good, though I see the "end game" design will start with organic-like looks and transition to fantasy/godly-entity concept.
who gets to make these rules and how do you make sure everyone follows them? I think the only way forward will be putting an AI in everybody's pocket that way we're all accountable to the system and no group gets to victimize another without directing a spotlight towards themselves.
